The only acceptable casting for a remake of “The Birdcage”
The Birdcage is one of my absolute favorite films, I use its dialog in my daily life and, until this very moment, I would have said a remake should never be attempted.
You get Pedro Pascal and Andrew Scott to play the roles done by Robin Williams and Nathan Lane though?
This painting is located in the Church of the Nativity in Prague, and is dated to 1663. It is also the basis of at least 3 D&D character concepts that are stuck in my head now.
there is a judge in Seattle who does the weekly name change hearings, and who says it’s her favorite part of the week. she says she doesn’t read out previous names, or ask about the reasons why people want to change them. she says it’s a beautiful moment, and a celebration; a claiming of a new identity, or a reclamation of an old identity. she encourages the room to clap for folks. then she welcomes everyone up, one by one, by last name and with warmth; she shows them the court order where nobody else can see, asks them to double check the spelling, and then they’re done! do they want a picture? do they want their friends and loved ones who came with them to be in it too? do they want the court order in the photo? she helps everyone pose, shakes hands and stands with them for as long as they need to take it, recruits the clerk for help taking photos of the folks who came alone. then she tells them where to go next, congratulates them, and claps along with the rest of the room.
probably three quarters of the people there were trans, and she centered their experience quietly, with love and joy.
I think I’ll be thinking about her a lot this January, and for a long time after. it’s good to know she’s there.
When I was a very suicidal trans activist in Texas, Benjamin Sisko saying “sure, you would [die for your people]. Dying gets you off the hook. The question is: are you willing to live for your people?” changed and possibly saved my life. It’s up there with “if we are going to be damned, let us be damned for who we really are” from Picard. Star Trek not only shows us a better world, it teaches us how to make it there
Over 10 years ago I drew this mother naga with her kid and a bowl of gulab jamun, and I was blown away to see people still reblogging it and saying kind things here. I decided to draw a sequel, the PTA (People That are Anacondas) meeting is over, and she finally gets to have some gulab jamun. c: I really hope this cheers you up some.
My first reaction: she finally gets to have some!!
My second reaction: oh gosh they’re holding tails in the second picture okay I need to reblog this.

• won’t necessary be a lonely old lady
• “a lonely old crazy cat lady” is a patriarchal asshole stereotype:):):):)
• doesn’t necessarily hate kids
• doesn’t need to give you an explanation
Change it to “a man who doesn’t want babies” and all those “reasons” read like someone with the brain development of a five year old said them.
Which is to say they’re jokes. Unreal reasons. Dumb as bricks and if they were bricks it’d be lovely to lob them at the bare feet of anyone saying even one of them.

You’re allowed to not like any of that. Go figure. And go to hell if you tell anyone what they should want or do with their one single life.
