🔑 Key Insights from SIAM President Shailesh Chandra on EV Subsidies: 🚗 The right time to phase out EV subsidies is once market penetration reaches 20%. ⚡ Government is likely to end demand incentives on purchasing electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers starting from FY 2027. 📉 Gradually reducing subsidies could boost market self-sufficiency and pave the way for sustainable EV growth. 🌱 As adoption grows, the focus will shift toward creating an ecosystem that encourages organic demand for EVs without heavy government intervention. I fully agree with Mr. Shailesh Chandra’s viewpoints. 🔍 According to the Diffusion of Innovation principle: 🧑‍💼 Providing subsidies is crucial in the early stages to make EVs affordable for consumers. 🎯 Once the diffusion reaches 16%, it crosses the critical mass, leading to a domino effect. 💡 At this stage, the diffusion becomes self-sustained, reducing the need for incentives. 📈 With economies of scale kicking in, EVs will naturally become more affordable, further accelerating adoption. When discussing software-defined vehicles (SDVs), the primary focus of the global conversation today is on in-vehicle technology. Major topics are: - Software Abstraction - Hardware Consolidation While it’s straightforward to take a Linux-based or Android-based system and call it SDV, making automotive core functions SDV compatible is a bit more challenging. But in my view SDV is more than that. SDV isn’t just a technology or architecture - it’s a software mindset. SDV is feature-driven, not system-driven. SDV is continuous integration and testing at the vehicle level. SDV allows for dynamic allocation and deployment of software across different hardware. SDV means managing not just S or E/E, it is when you manage S/E/E as one system. Do you agree?
