𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 - 𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Our first technology takes us back to Egypt, to the year 7000 B.C. Even then, people were dependent on comparable length measurement. As body measurements were common at that time, the length of a foot was defined precisely for the first time in Egypt. Thanks to countless technical developments, however, we don't have to wriggle our bodies along the components. We have access to numerous tactile measuring technologies. Anyone who has ever held a caliper gauge in their hand or stood at a coordinate measuring machine will realize that these devices can hardly be integrated into an automated production process. The advantages are obvious. The technology is easy to use, reliable and inexpensive. Even simple 3D measuring machines offer accuracies in the thousandth of a millimeter range. Measuring machines also have a very high repeatability. I have summarized some of the advantages and disadvantages in the slideshow. See you next time.
