Paris Auto Show 2024: The Electrifying Future of Mobility
Last week, my colleague Sabrina-Monique Schimitz and I from go-e were at the @Paris Auto Show 2024. It was held at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles and brought the future of transportation into sharp focus.
This year's edition stood out with a strong emphasis on electromobility, showing that the automotive world is fully committed to a sustainable, electric-powered future. Alongside electrifying reveals from Chinese and Japanese newcomers (at least for me) carmakers, the debut of the Citroën C3 electric variants was groundbreaking to me, and the very nice BMW Group prototypes were my key highlights.
⚡ Electromobility: The New Normal?
Electrification dominated the show, as automakers vied for attention with their latest electric vehicle innovations. But it feels, not fully, to be normal. With a bit of fear, many brands clarified that their future is all-electric. The most impressive booth, from my perspective, was Renault.
🥐 Citroën C3: A BEV highlight
The new C3 EV is aimed squarely at urban drivers, offering an affordable and eco-friendly solution without sacrificing the quirky, fun design that the C3 is known for. A big brother to the charming little AMI.
🥨 BMW: We are electric!
The brand continues to push the boundaries of design, technology, and performance, and this year, it wowed crowds with various futuristic prototypes that encapsulate the future of both electric and autonomous driving.
One of the standout concepts was the BMW Vision Neue Klasse, a prototype that previews the next generation of BMW’s electric vehicles. It reminds me of the design language of the old days, with a transposition in our digital time. Well done, from my perspective!
🥇 For me: Citroën and BMW, Champions of Electromobility
Both Citroën and BMW used the Paris Auto Show to underscore their visions of the future of electromobility but in distinct ways. Citroën’s focus was clear: making electric cars accessible to the masses. The C3 EV encapsulates this philosophy with its practicality, affordability, and range, making it an attractive option for urban dwellers.
BMW, on the other hand, aims to define the premium electric driving experience of tomorrow. Their approach highlights how electromobility, when combined with cutting-edge technology and sustainability, can shape the future of high-performance driving. We are electric, they claim.
🎢 This year’s show proved that the electric era is no longer on the horizon—it’s here, and it’s charging full speed ahead. Let's go!
A little trend: plenty of outside displays of nearly all the new prototypes. Some of them animate the logo or can write a message on the grill. Very funny.
Very frightening: the wracks of the VINCI. It was a shocking reminder to drive safely all the time. Take care!
