Welcome back to the #DiscoverRobotics Series! This time we decided to test how some of the Unitree Robotics #robot dogs handle overcoming obstacles, a skill that is important for legged robots when climbing stairs, navigating unknown terrains & challenging environments in a real life setting. We started with #A1, the first robot in the consumer grade robot series, renowned for its agility and intelligent features. A1 has no obstacle avoidance out of the box, and you can see it in the video. It can, however, be equipped with additional 2D/3D #lidar #payload to upgrade its performance. We then moved on to Go1, a more advanced version equipped with a greater range of sensors, including a SSS Super-sensing 10-view Detection. Go1 struggled to overcome an obstacle, although it has an obstacle avoidance feature installed in it. The last test with #Go2, the most recent addition to the lineup featuring enhanced characteristics in #agility and #mobility as well as a 4D spinning LiDAR on board. Go2 nailed the task like a champ! General Laser has recently exhibited at the United Nations Office at Vienna’s International Conference on Nuclear Security #ICONS2024 with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). We used this as an opportunity to make a #colorised #pointcloud of one of the corridors with a #Trion P1 #Laser Scanner from our partner FJDynamics. P1 is a compact yet mighty solution, with scanning range of 40m, sampling rate of 200.000 point per sec, and relative accuracy up to 2 cm.
