Well-proven reliability meets new impulses – change in the management of GAW technologies GmbH   The worldwide active and rich in tradition industrial plant engineering and construction company GAW technologies GmbH (based in Austria), announces a change in the management active since July 2024.   After more than 21 years with the company, including eight years in management, Wolfgang Senner is leaving GAW because he is centering his life back to his native country Germany. Together with Nina Pildner-Steinburg in the lead and the entire staff, the generational change has been effectively managed in recent years and the company has been prepared for a furthermore stable future.   And GAW technologies will not stand still in the future either, because from now on the newly established dual leadership in the management will set the direction: Alexander Rinderhofer has taken over the management agenda from Wolfgang Senner and will drive the further powerful development of the company in a sustainable way.   The polymer/plastics technologist, who was trained at the Montanuniversität in Leoben/Austria, began his professional career in the research and development departments of well-known large corporations, with a focus on plastic rheology and steel-plastic composite materials. In addition to his job, he completed an MBA at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz with a focus on strategy development, strategic marketing, technology sales and management. Further engagements as CEO in companies with a strong need for change and restructuring in the plant engineering and electronics industry segments expanded his technical and economic range of skills in the following years. Since 2017, Alexander Rinderhofer has been responsible for the management of GAW Beteiligungsgesellschaft, where he was responsible for innovation, technology and sales. He now manages GAW technologies GmbH alongside Nina Pildner-Steinburg.   In addition to the traditional core market in paper and board production, GAW has also been investing strongly in the area of plastics recycling for several years. GAW technologies and the sister companies of the GAW Group are working on numerous projects that help customers achieve their sustainable development goals and reduce the carbon footprint. One example is a groundbreaking recycling solution in the area of plastic packaging made from mixed plastics and plastic composites: "CreaSolv® is a solution-based recycling process that opens up completely new ways because valuable plastics are recovered in pure form from supposedly inseparable plastic waste. Recently, GAW technologies GmbH started up the new coating colour preparation at Mondi Jülich (part of Mondi Group).   It was the first order for GAW at this plant located in the border triangle of Germany, Belgium, Netherlands. Mondi is one of the world's leading suppliers of release liners (siliconized release papers), with almost 150 years of experience at its Jülich plant, including 80 years in the production of release liners. A team of 130 employees is consciously working towards a more sustainable future of the packaging and paper industry.   The project had some complex requirements as well as very limited space conditions: everything had to be planned and erected in an already existing building that was not initially designed for such a unit.   Martin Faustmann, responsible Project Manager GAW: “It is very rare, that you have such a great collaboration with the entire team from the customer. Everybody involved was committed and so it was very easy to solve problems and overcome challenges. It really was a pleasure working on this project!”   The responsible Senior Project Manager Functional Paper & Films – Release Liner at Mondi, Norman Van Egten, adds: “We would like to thank to the entire GAW team, both on-site and off-site, as well as all colleagues involved in the start-up phase, for their outstanding collaboration. Sappi has awarded GAW technologies GmbH with an order to increase the efficiency of production processes – in detail to expand the storage of starch as well as a retrofitting / boosting of efficiency for pigment tanks at its Ehingen mill in Germany. 💪 The order also includes several safety technical audits of existing silos. The equipment deliveries are scheduled for the end of this year and beginning of 2025.   Health, Safety and Environment are very important factors in the strategies and within the success of Sappi. Just recently, Sappi has again achieved Platinum, the highest rating in EcoVadis' sustainability assessment across all three of its manufacturing regions - Europe, North America, and South Africa. 👏 With this rating, Sappi continues to be among the top 1% of the companies worldwide in the manufacture of pulp, paper and paperboard category. 🌍   GAW is a proud and long lasting partner when it comes to helping our customers reach their sustainability goals and to reduce the CO2 footprint. Last week the management teams from GAW technologies GmbH and GAW Paper Coating Systems got together at the headquarters in Graz to discuss upcoming actions and next steps. These periodic meetings and the agreed upon strategies play an important part to ensure the further sustainable and successful development of GAW technologies and its subsidiaries.   The visit also gave our colleagues from both continents the chance to clarify issues from day-to-day operations for a change directly face to face - instead of the usual way by phone/email or video conference.   And the summerly get-together in the evening with cuisine and drinks from local Styrian specialties framed the welcome prolongation of the meeting.   #GAW #team #strategy

In the thick of things - GAW employees climb the Alpentour Trophy!   The 25th edition of the Alpentour Trophy (a four-day mountain bike adventure race) recently took place in the Schladming Dachstein region in Styria/Austria.   GAW technologies GmbH is one of the sponsors of this sporting event, which is located in a truly amazing and beautiful landscape. Traditionally, professionals as well as amateurs and hobby bikers take part in this race. Around 450 participants rode up and down a 200-kilometer route and mastered 8,570 meters of altitude - sometimes in close contact with some of the usual native animal inhabitants of the mountain meadows.   For the first time, there were also three new one-day marathon routes with the ONE DAY Alpentour/Medium/Light races. Michael Stermschegg and Johann Illmaier from GAW took the opportunity to climb the mountains on their bikes and reached the finish line on the famous Planai with excellent personal best times. A real highlight - Michael is even considering taking part in the overall race over several days next year.   In the pros, the German Adelheid Morath (in the GAW jersey) took the overall victory in the women's category, while in the men's category it was the previous-year winner Colombian Hector Leonardo Paez.   The anniversary edition of the race also featured the popular City Sprint for children - great athletes of tomorrow who raced through Schladming's city center on their tricycles, children's bikes and mountain bikes and had a lot of fun.   Congratulations to all participants and of course especially to the winners! Great honor for GAW! Our customer Liansheng Pulp & Paper (Zhangzhou) Co., Ltd in China has awarded GAW technologies GmbH again with a large order: The supply of the Coating color preparation system, Surface sizing starch preparation system, GCC wet grinding system as well as Wet end chemicals system for the new PM2 in Zhangzhou City/Fujian province.   PM2 will be another impressive coated board machine with 8,100 mm web width at reel and 1,400m/min operating speed – the start-up is scheduled for 2025.   Liansheng Pulp & Paper (Zhangzhou) Co., Ltd was founded in 2020 and is one of the leading producers of wood pulp and virgin fiber-based paper and board in China. Its sister company Liansheng Paper (Longhai) is already a long-established recycled packaging board producer.   The customer appreciates the good performance of previous GAW deliveries (the latest in 2023 for their successfully operating PM1), especially the good result of our wet GCC and wet cationizing plant – in this area of expertise, other competitors fall far behind.   As matter of fact, it is already the third order for GAW of such a large package to this customer, because in 2013 we also delivered this scope of supply for PM8 at their sister company Liansheng Paper Industry (Longhai) Co. Ltd.   We are proud and fortunate to have earned our customer´s trust in our technology and expertise.
