Info
The Energy Community is an international organisation which brings together the European Union and its neighbours to create an integrated pan-European energy market. The organisation was founded by the Treaty establishing the Energy Community signed in October 2005 in Athens, Greece, in force since July 2006. The key objective of the Energy Community is to extend the EU internal energy market rules and principles to countries in South East Europe, the Black Sea region and beyond on the basis of a legally binding framework. The Energy Community has nine Contracting Parties - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, North Macedonia, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine. The European Union is a Party to the Energy Community Treaty. Represented by the European Commission, it serves as a permanent Vice-President of the organisation. Any European Union Member State may obtain the status of a Participant. Armenia, Norway and Türkiye take part as Observers.

🙌 Enhancing Distribution System Operators (DSO) Roles in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine! On 25-26 July, the Energy Community Secretariat, in collaboration with the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER), is hosting a two-day Regional Training on the New Roles of DSO under the Clean Energy Package in #Berlin. Part of the EU4Energy Programme "Promoting the Clean Energy Transition in the Eastern Partnership Countries," the training brought together representatives from regulatory authorities and DSOs in the Eastern Partnership Countries. The focus was on enhancing knowledge of DSO functionalities to integrate renewables and new market participants, supporting the goals of the Clean Energy Package. Funded by the European Union, the EU4Energy programme is a collaborative effort between the Energy Community Secretariat, Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER), and the International Energy Agency (IEA) . #EU4Energy #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #EnergyCommunity #CEER

Earlier today, Director Artur Lorkowski participated in a panel discussion on Ukraine at the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation (P-TECC) meeting in Bucharest. He emphasized that with sufficient funding, the Energy Community's Ukraine Energy Support Fund, in cooperation with G7 partners, can secure critical energy equipment for Ukraine to rebuild its infrastructure before winter. "Utilising windfall profits from frozen Russian assets to support the reconstruction and repair of Ukraine's energy infrastructure would also hold Russia accountable,"stressed Mr. Lorkowski. #SupportUkraine #SupportUkraine #UESF #EnergyResilience

💡At the Foreign Affairs Council meeting earlier this week, the focus was on the devastating impact of Russian aggression on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Much of Ukraine's electricity generation capacity is destroyed, damaged, or out of government control. High Representative Josep Borrell urged ministers to bolster Ukraine's power generation and contribute to the Energy Community's Ukraine Energy Support Fund. Let's support #Ukraine in rebuilding its energy infrastructure. #SupportUkraine #EnergyResilience #EuropeanUnion #ForeignAffairs #UkraineEnergySupportFund #UESF
