Chapter Text

“Here you go, you little brat,” Yoongi grumbles as he slides a plate of Jimin’s all-time favorite raspberry chocolate cake in front on him. The blonde acts annoyed, but Jimin can see the fond glint in his eyes as the younger boy claps his hands together excitedly.

“You’re the best, hyung!” Jimin chips happily before digging into the cake. Yoongi just watches him with a soft smile pulling at his lips. Taehyung, who is sitting across from him next to Jungkook, glares at his best friend.

“I’m still pissed at you for not telling me,” he says moodily, as he does every single fucking day, fixing Jimin with a disgruntled look. The redhead just rolls his eyes and continues eating his dessert when Taehyung grumbles, “Some best friend you are.”

“How many times do I have to tell you I’m sorry? It was months ago, get over it already.” Taehyung splutters indignantly at Jimin’s sassy retort. His crosses his arm as his gaze flicks to Yoongi, eyes narrowing.

“And you, don’t even get me started on you! I should still kick your ass.” Yoongi just sighs and looks at Taehyung in exasperation. This time, Jimin does react, looking up at the brunette with a dangerous expression on his face.

“Do you want to die?” He asks in a quietly threatening voice, and Taehyung’s mouth actually drops open at the redhead’s tone. Jungkook snickers at his Soulmate’s scandalized expression, earning him a glare.

“He’s right, hyung, get over it already.”

“Jeon Jungkook, you fucking traitor,” the brunette bites hotly, making Jungkook laugh and pull him into a hug. Taehyung grumbles in annoyance but still rests his head against the younger boy’s shoulder grudgingly. Hoseok, who is sitting on Taehyung’s other side, eyes the boy’s half eaten cake intently.

“Are you going to finish that?” He asks, already snaking a hand out to pull it towards him. Taehyung, not even lifting his head from Jungkook’s shoulder, slaps it away sharply. The older boy snatches his hand back and cradles it, looking offended. “Yah!”

Just then, Namjoon arrives at the table, his hand clasped with Jin’s, who follows him with a warm smile as he sees the others. “Hyung!” Taehyung grins, pulling back from Jungkook to greet Jin. “You came!” Jin slides in next to Namjoon as they set their trays down.

“I had today off so I thought I’d come eat lunch with you guys,” they all beam back at him, and even Yoongi looks vaguely pleased.

They eat for a while, all chattering—save for Yoongi, who just quietly holds Jimin’s hand as he listens— amiably and catching up, occasionally groaning at Hoseok’s bad puns and Jin’s dad jokes. Namjoon rests his chin in his palm and gazes at the oldest lovingly.

“My Jinnie is so handsome,” he coos, earning a groan from the entire table, Jin included, though he is trying to hide a pleased smile. Jungkook snakes his arm around Taehyung’s shoulder once again and pulls him close, whispering something in his ear that has the other boy giggling.

Jimin finishes eating his cake, leaning back in his chair with a satisfied sigh. He sees Yoongi watching him in amusement out of the corner of his eye, and turns to the blonde with a frown. “What?” The older boy bites back a smile as he leans closer to Jimin, making the other’s breath hitch when Yoongi lifts a hand to his face.

“My Jiminie is such a messy eater,” he murmurs, copying Namjoon’s mushy tone, his thumb wiping away a smudge of chocolate frosting on the boy’s full bottom lip, sending tremors of warmth through Jimin. The younger blushes slightly, and Yoongi’s smile widens as he watches his beloved chubby cheeks turn pink.

Yoongi now visits his father in the nursing home once a month, taking a train out to Daegu and staying overnight at a motel. The man never shows any response, but Yoongi has told Jimin that he feels like his father is still in there somewhere. He also speaks to his mother on the phone about once a week, though it’s awkward and the calls never last more than two or three minutes. He is slowly repairing his relationship with the woman, although grudgingly.

Through it all, his Soulmate is by his side.

He and Jimin have moved into an apartment in downtown Seoul together, and spend every waking moment with each other. The only times they aren’t together are during the classes they don’t share, and the short time apart is suffocating for both of them.

Jimin gazes softly at Yoongi as the blonde, after wiping off the chocolate, brushes his fingers over the younger’s soft, full cheeks tenderly, the adoring expression on his face releasing butterflies in the boy’s stomach.

Hoseok looks between Jin and Namjoon, who are staring at each other with sappy expressions, the giggling Jungkook and Taehyung, and the oblivious-to-anyone-but-each-other Jimin and Yoongi.

“Oh my god,” Hoseok announces suddenly, leaning back in his chair with a dazed expression. “I’m surrounded.”

Notes:

Finally this damn story is over, omg. This was such a bitch to write ahhh. I'm probably going to be writing a cute little fluffy one shot next to make up for all the angst in this fic, so keep an eye out!
