Summary:

“…Why…” Someone whispers sorrowfully causing Kurona to stop dead in his tracks.

The boy continues to quietly sob.

Kurona isn’t sure of who this person was. But knows he wants to help.

(Kurona finds his mind preoccupied with thoughts of Ness, despite the fact they've never interacted.)

Work Text:

“Here, here!” Kurona pants as he sprints across the field passing the ball over to Isagi.

He slows down coming to a halt and immediately leans over, sweaty palms cupping his knees. His eyes watch Isagi as he shoots the ball directly past the Blue Lock Man’s head.

The both of them are practicing out on the field in order to sync up better for their next game. Kurona would quickly dribble through a carefully planned obstacle course of cones that represented other players to help improve his sharp turning ability. Every few attempts they would both assign a different player to the last cone, which would determine the type of pass Kurona would make to Isagi. Isagi would then improvise shooting a goal.

Isagi jogs back to Kurona who jolts up and fixes his posture. He wipes his sweaty forehead with the back of his hand which was also slick with sweat.

“Why did it have to be so humid today…” He mentally complains as Isagi stops beside him.

“Should we rotate the last player?” Isagi asks, much to Kurona’s internal dismay. More sprinting.

“Sure, sure. Do you have anyone in mind?”

“How about someone from our own team… Maybe someone like, Ness?” Isagi shrugs, Kurona nods. Isagi passes him the ball running to his position on the field.

Kurona thinks of how Ness would defend as he moves to his own position. He wasn’t really sure as to why Isagi chose him. He assumes that it is because Ness is slightly obsessed with Kaiser and may pose a threat to Isagi. Ness was almost never seen without being by Kaiser’s side. He was extremely loyal.

Kurona sighs and shakes his head, now wasn’t the time.

He steels his gaze to the cones beyond and kicks the ball forwards.

Each tap of the ball sharply arches the direction of the turns he makes around the cones, his movements grow sloppier due to his fatigue. Kurona notices that he’s nearly finished passing all the checkpoints and picks up the pace - deciding to give the rest his all.

After a few strides, realisation suddenly hits him.

He hasn’t actually thought about how he would make a pass if he were to be stopped by Ness.

In his peripherals he sees Isagi begin to run to receive the pass.

“Ah shit, shit.” He mutters through his jagged teeth as he approaches the final cone. Hopefully Isagi won’t be disappointed in him.

He slows his dribbling down, giving himself time to think.

He imagines Ness is standing there with his typical polite facade, lips upturned into a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. When Kurona approaches, Ness’ stance grows wider, ready to defend. The hazy magenta tips of his hair gently blow in response to the force of the wind. To him, it was a colour of passion and mystery. Kurona notices the way it waves and frames his face, intensifying his deep magenta eyes.

Kurona feels his heart flutter.

With wide eyes, he averts his gaze from the too-vivid apparition he created and abruptly kicks the ball to Isagi who shoots him a confused expression. Great. He scores another goal and begins walking up to Kurona.

“You okay? You were really slowing up at the end there. Not to mention that pass probably wouldn’t have passed Ness.” Isagi raises his eyebrow in concern whilst trying to cheer up Kurona with his pun.

“I think I’m just tired, tired…” Kurona responds ducking his head apologetically.

“It is getting late... You were also running quite a bit today… Lets pack up the cones and head off.”

“Yep, yep.”

They both proceed to clean up in silence.

The sound of rain that had gone unnoticed can now be heard faintly battering against the steel roofing of the Blue Lock facility. Perhaps that’s why it was so humid today. Kurona finds his mind wandering again.

Why was Ness so obsessed with Kaiser?

From what Kurona has seen, all he does is treat him as if he’s not human. Tossing him around like he’s nothing - using him. Yet Ness still sticks around trying to seek validation from Kaiser. Maybe their past wasn’t so bad. Maybe Kaiser is pushing him away because of some sort of guilt from his own past and wants to move forwards.

But Ness is still hung up on the past.

‘It must be really lonely…’ Kurona empathises, despite the fact Ness hasn’t been the kindest either.

Noticing there are no more cones on the grass, he snaps out of his trance and walks over to Isagi carrying the cones he accumulated.

“Kurona, are you sure you’re ok? Here, I’ll take your cones so you can rest…” Kurona passes Isagi his stack of cones.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry…” Kurona says turning to the side. Isagi pats his shoulder and Kurona looks up.

“It’s alright, you seemed to be spacing out… I’m here if you ever need to talk about it…” Kurona thanks him for the offer but knows he shouldn’t. Talking to Isagi about anything that relates back to Kaiser always seems to agitate him. The both of them needed to sort something out… But that’s their issue not his.

Isagi steps forwards towards the goal.

“I think might practice a little bit more. I’ll see you soon.” Kurona waves to Isagi and proceeds to exit the field. He was too kind.

All the running made him feel gross and sweaty.

The grey hallways were always quiet at this time of the day. It wasn’t quite time for dinner yet, so most players in the Germany stratum kept practicing until then.

Kurona decides to head to the changing rooms and bathe himself before the rush. His eyes travel along the cement wall as he makes his way to his destination.

He finds himself lost in thought again.

Ness and himself had never really interacted with each other, but for some reason Kurona still felt something towards him. He feels his face grow warm and his heart quickens in response.

Something?

He was one of their enemies.

’It’s probably just because I feel bad for him… There’s no reason for me to feel this way…’ He fiddles with his braid, deep in thought.

His eyes notice the door opening to the change rooms. Finally! Getting to places took ages, the Blue Lock facility was massive.

Cool toned fluorescent lights flickered on in response to Kurona’s movement. It gives the room a sterile feel. He briskly makes his way to his locker.

His ears pick up the sound of a running shower and with curiosity he looks over to the door to the bathroom. The light was on, indicating that someone was already in there - Kurona pays no mind to it and proceeds to get ready.

He pulls out his towel before lifting each leg up on the bench to untie his cleats, placing them in the locker. He pulls apart his braid and pulls the lacky band over his wrist. His arms cross-over, hands grabbing and lifting either side of the sweat drenched training uniform over his head. He then wraps a towel above the hem of his pants and removes them along with his underwear. Reaching over, he prepares his clean pyjamas for afterwards, grabbing some soap and hair wash. He decides to keep his micro-translators in and shuts his locker.

The sound of his footsteps are faint against the bathroom tiles as he enters. He scans for an unoccupied shower and chooses one furthest from the door.

He further advances, holding his towel loosely around his waist as he makes his way there.

“…Why…” Someone whispers sorrowfully causing Kurona to stop dead in his tracks.

The boy continues to quietly sob.

Kurona isn’t sure of who this person was. But knows he wants to help. He pushes past his anxiety and situates himself closer to the occupied shower.

“Hey…” He says to the mystery person.

The other gasps.

“H-huh?” He croaks out nervously.

“I’m sorry... Are you doing ok, ok?” Kurona asks softly whilst leaning on the tiled wall that partitions his shower from the occupied one.

“Ah…” He sniffles again, “I’m fine.” He breathes out shakily.

There’s a sudden shift in his energy.

“Pardon me, but… You’re one of the Blue Lock guys? Am I correct?”

‘It’s as if he was never upset to begin with… And that polite demeanour…’ Kurona’s breath catches in his throat.

Ness.

Kurona decides to stay by him, his hand grabs the shower faucet turning on the water and he sets aside his towel.

“Yes, yes. It’s Kurona.” He says while lathering up his shampoo in his hands. “You are?”

“Alexis Ness…” Kurona massages the shampoo into his scalp. He was right.

They mutually choose to focus on washing their bodies in silence for the time being.

Kurona glances to the wall obscuring Ness as he washed his back. He wanted to know why he was in here so early compared to the others.

On the other side Ness washes his torso, head face down under the running water,  plastering his hair to his face. He stares at the ground, despite the shower water trickling into his eyes.

He feels incredibly uneasy. Nobody should witness him like this. Nobody should even be here. He grabs the side of his head with his hand and digs his nails into his scalp. It stung.

Why did he always cry so easily? Why was he always so worthless?

Why couldn’t things just be like old times?

“Ness, Ness.” The sound of his name snaps him out of his thoughts. He loosens his grip. “Do you want to talk about it?”

He panics and looks up to the tiles that separate them with wide eyes.

“Nothing is wrong.” He bites back.

Kurona wasn’t sure of what to do. His heart is hammering hard in his chest. Ness is upset, he feels terrible for prying, but he still wants to relieve Ness of the pain he’s experiencing. Kurona suspects that this isn’t the first time he’s cried since he arrived in Blue Lock either.

He hears Ness turn off the water.

‘It’s now or never.’ He thinks to himself turning off his own tap.

Kurona quickly wraps his towel around his waist and secures it there with one hand. His head whips around and Ness comes into view. With his free hand he reaches forwards and grabs Ness’ shoulder tightly. Ness looks at him with wide eyes.

He knows this is weird, who was he kidding, they’ve barely talked with one another up until now. They were supposed to be enemies. But something in Kurona told him to not let go.

They both stare at each other. Kurona’s gaze lifts upwards. He gulps.

‘God, his hair was even more gorgeous in person…’

Kurona once again has no idea where he is going with this, and looks away bashfully.

Ness’ shoulder feels tense to the touch. Kurona wasn’t sure if it was because of his sudden actions, so as not to seem rude, he loosens his grip. This causes his hand to slide down Ness’ shoulder, slippery with water. The adrenaline coursing through his veins causes him to feel sick - he has to say something. He didn’t want Ness to leave. His eyes teared up a little, he didn’t want to be rejected.

Using the determination within, he looks up again.

Ness is also looking away, face down to the tiles below, lips pursed attempting to smile. He looked troubled.

“I can tell you’re upset… Please…” Kurona says quietly, releasing Ness from his grasp.

Ness feels his tears start well up again. It was as if Kurona was gently removing the stitches to his unhealed wounds, painlessly.

Magical . No…

He looks down to Kurona who looks up at him with a tender gaze. Nobody had looked at him like that in a while…

“I’ll, I’ll be in the bath if you want to talk, Ness.” Kurona steps forwards and glances back at him before  continuing to walk towards the bath.

Ness is left standing there, face relaxed, contorting into its true emotion. A single tear falls from his face. It was a tear of sorrow and of relief.

Most of the people in his life disregard his feelings. It is unbecoming, pathetic even, to cry or be upset. Right?

That is why he should just leave. Kaiser already finds his negativity painful. He shouldn’t subject Kurona to it.

He places his hand where Kurona held it not long ago. Ness didn’t expect him of all people to find him here like this and attempt to console him, they are supposed to be enemies. His hand slips down his shoulder just as Kurona’s did and his nerves tingle in response. It snaps him out of thought.

His chest tightens.

He wants more of that feeling.

His eyes then dart to the side where Kurona had originally stood. He recalls how his face looked remorseful, eyebrows downturned, averted eyes glossy with tears that were not ready to fall.

He shivers.

Kaiser would not approve of this. Kurona is one of Yoichi’s close teammates.

‘Ah… No. He doesn’t even seem to care anymore. He doesn’t need me.’ With that thought, Ness looks back to where Kurona had walked off to, the bath.

***

Kurona rests his towel across his shoulders, waiting. Every passing second fills him with doubt. His nose begins to tingle and tears begin to prick the corners of his eyes. Rejection was imminent and Ness is a loyal person. He would probably feel as though he is betraying Kaiser and his own teammates by associating himself with him.

Suddenly Kurona picks up on the sound of footsteps against the bathroom’s wet tiles causing his breath to catch in his throat. He wanted to look back, but didn’t want to be let down.

A foot descends into the water followed by the another, creating ripples in the water. A towel shifts in Kurona’s peripherals and the person’s entire body submerges itself in the water beside him.

It was Ness.

Kurona looks beside him, gazing up into Ness’ dark magenta eyes. Ness adjusts himself.

“I want to apologise for earlier… For lashing out…” He says, ashamed.

“It’s alright, it’s alright. Do you still want to talk?” Kurona offers.

“…If you’re still up for listening.” Ness responds. Kurona nods prompting Ness to look forwards and begin speaking.

***

Ness lived a harsh life back in Germany.

Kurona listens to him intently, watching as his emotions shift from frustration, relief and lastly sorrow. He begins to resonate with Ness’ fluctuating feelings, taking them on. He desperately wants to hold him, to let him know that he isn’t alone

His hand moves under the water and rests itself on top of Ness’. He flinches at the contact.

“Ah, I’m sorry!“ Kurona retracts his hand quickly in response, lifting it out of the water. There is a sinking feeling in his gut.

Ness was surprised. The touch had sent goosebumps rolling up his arm to the side of his cheek. It felt electric. As if it is meant to be.

He finds himself craving more.

His head dips closer and Kurona’s eyes widen.

Ness takes back his withdrawn hand, intertwining their fingers together before squeezing tightly. Kurona’s breath hitches, they were so close.

“Can I?” Ness asks softly, Kurona raises his other hand and threads it into Ness’ curly hair.

“Yes…” Kurona whispers.

Ness drags his fingers lightly over the side of Kurona’s torso, stroking it. Kurona’s back arches in response as a shiver runs along his spine, pressing their chests together. Ness holds him there and leans in.

Their lips connect, melting into one another.

Initially the contact is gentle, as if both were testing the waters. Kurona grows more desperate. His hands reach over Ness’ shoulders and his arms hook around his neck to support himself. He feels Ness press into him further, tongue dragging slowly over his lower lip. He parts them and Ness’ tongue slides into him, tracing the underside of his tongue, savouring Kurona’s taste. His warmth.

Kurona feels Ness’ hands delicately snake down his spine, tracing up again the sensation causing heat to pool right to his core. The motions stop, Kurona rubs his back against Ness’ palm, a silent plea for him to continue, but he doesn’t. Instead, Ness removes one hand and places it gently on Kurona’s knee, feeling up Kurona’s inner thigh which tenses at the sensation.

Both of them break the kiss and stare at each other, eyes half lidded with lust.

Ness brings his lips to Kurona’s ear and traces his tongue across the lobe.

“Ah-!” Kurona brings a hand to his mouth, flustered. Ness smiles to himself.

“Adorable…” He whispers, lips brushing against the sensitive spot causing Kurona’s cheeks to heat up.

He rests his chin on Kurona’s shoulder, nose pressed against the crook of his neck. Ness can feel Kurona’s pulse, it’s stable rate soothing him.

There is a comfortable silence.

Ness suddenly feels a wave of emotions wash over him. Relief, happiness, love and desire. He wonders how Kurona and himself got here. They hadn’t even talked up until this evening. It was weird… This outcome should have been impossible.

No.

Nothing is impossible.

“... Ness?”

“Kurona… Thank you.” He tightens the embrace, and the other does the same.

Kurona presses his lips on Ness’ damp hair and they both lift their heads. Peach eyes meeting magenta ones.

This time Kurona moves in, finding himself intoxicated. His lips connect to the other’s, desperately searching for the same feeling. He flicks his tongue over Ness’ lips in-between kisses countless times, begging for entry.

The desperation arouses Ness as he presses a hand to Kurona’s chest, nipple between his middle and ring fingers. He deepens the kiss, finally allowing Kurona entry. Ness drags his two fingers over the other’s nipple in an arched motion, lightly pinching the bud with his index and middle finger before brushing over it again.

Kurona’s breath stutters against Nes. His dick twitches.

“Alexis… More…” His first name.

Ness obliges.

He traces his other hand up the side of Kurona’s toned thigh. Kurona feels the fingers lightly proceeding further and further towards his groin, abruptly stopping. Without warning, Ness brushes his fingers softly against the underside of Kurona’s length catching him off guard. The action elicits a moan from Kurona that he attempts to stifle by biting his lip.

It feels good .

Ness ghosts his fingers bringing them upwards towards the tip and back down again causing the smaller one to buck his hips forwards against his palm.

Ness can feel himself growing flush seeing Kurona unravel at his light, teasing touches. He feels his cock stiffen in arousal.

Ness leans into Kurona’s ear nipping his earlobe causing him to grip harder onto him as his pace quickens.

It feels so good .

He wants Ness to feel the same way. He wants them to feel this together .

His hand reaches below the water and the tips of his fingers meet and feel up something rigid. Ness presses into his touch responding with a small hum. He stops moving his hand up and down, pressing his thumb against his tip and leans back. Kurona whines.

“We should get to a shower cubicle. I don’t think others would be happy bathing in…” Kurona mentally fills in the words and nods.

They both walk to a far end shower cubicle and turn the hot water on, creating steam. Kurona is painfully stiff and can’t help but steal glances at Ness’ unsubmerged and unobscured dick as he hooks his towel somewhere. It was larger than his own, after all Ness is taller than him.

He can’t help but want to know how it would feel pressed up against his.

“You sure you want to continue this?” Ness asks, lowering his gaze.

“Yes.”

Ness leans down and kisses him deeply pressing his groin against his. They both inhale sharply at the contact. With one hand he grasps them both and holds them together, pumping up and down at a gentle and even pace. Kurona clenches his teeth. Fuck. It’s like Ness read his mind.

Or maybe he longed for the same thing.

The sensation causes Kurona to begin rolling his hips against the other doing the same, feeling something build up in his core that needs to be released. His chest tightens and his heart rate increases.

“Ness…” He shakily whispers, eyes tightly shut as his nails drag along Ness’ shoulder blades. Ness’ breaths become rugged.

The sting felt good. But the gesture only meant Kurona was nearly at his climax. Ness wasn’t quite there yet. He needs something more, something to push him over the edge.

“Fuck- bite me.” He needs this .

Kurona’s eyes open wide and soften with hesitation. He slowly leans in towards his collarbone and drags his sharp teeth along his neck biting down. Ness groans, he is getting close.

Kurona suddenly gasps and his head is thrown back. Ness responds quickly, wrapping a hand tightly around the base of Kurona’s length, and with the other, digs his thumb into the tip.

“Ah!” Kurona sees white, throwing his head back as pleasure wracks through his entire body.

But nothing comes out.

Tears prick the corners of his eyes as the hand that holds his base begins to pump them again. Kurona struggles to hold himself up, legs shaking. To stabilise himself, he wraps his arms around Ness.

Each time Ness drags his fingers over both of their cocks he trembles. A tear falls down his cheek, hypersensitive to Ness’ intoxicating touch.

Ness notices this and feels himself grow harder. The tears that fall are like crystals that adorn Kurona’s beautiful rosy eyes.

Their chests both grow tight and Ness finally releases Kurona’s cock using that hand to press their chests together as his hand pumps faster bringing them to their climax.

Kurona’s legs give out and Ness catches him before lowering him to sit against the tiled wall, kneeling beside him.

Ness leans in and kisses him on the cheek.

“Thank you… For being here for me… I’m so sorry about earlier.” Ness whispers. Kurona giggles.

“You were upset, upset. It’s ok…” Though he was still pleasantly surprised about how on earth it progressed to them doing… This .

He wasn’t complaining, they seemed to fit together.

Ness smiles, genuinely. He stands up and grabs the shower head, bringing it down to Kurona’s stomach, washing their mixed semen off. He caresses the other’s abs getting rid of all the stubborn, sticky bits. Kurona makes a small noise. He looks up.

Kurona’s face was flushed. Maybe next time he’ll…

He goes on to washing his own stomach before standing up, setting the shower head onto its handle again.

He lends Kurona a hand, lifting him up and passing him over a towel.

“Thank you…” He says shyly. Cute.

Ness turns off the shower and the two of them walk towards the changing rooms side by side.

A creak of the door can be heard, as well as the sound of voices. Everyone must be washing up for dinner. Thank god they had finished before then. Kurona glances towards Ness who stares back, smiling softly.

They both enter the changing rooms together, their paths diverging towards their lockers on opposite sides of the room.

Kurona can’t help but feel anxious around all these people - especially after they both…

Face warm, he reaches for his Blue Lock facility pyjamas when a blur of cyan approaches his peripherals.

“You’re simply glowing Kurona! Now how come you still have your micro-translators in? Last time I checked, showers don’t speak German…” Hiori teases in a quiet tone amongst the commotion in the change rooms.

“Gah Hiori! Stop it, stop it…” Kurona whisper-shouts cupping his hands on his cheeks. He quickly shifts his eyes over to Ness who returns his gaze.

Hiori chuckles, placing a hand on his hip.

“I think I know who it was too…” He grins glancing over at Ness before removing his clothes, proceeding towards the showers.

“Hey, hey, where’s Isagi?” He asks bringing Hiori to a halt.

“I have no idea…“ Kurona nods in understanding and Hiori is off.

Kurona looks towards Ness, flicking his eyes towards the door and back, trying not to be obvious. Thankfully, Ness receives the message and the both of them leave the change rooms.

As soon as the door shuts behind them, Ness takes hold of Kurona’s hand squeezing it. A small gesture that reassures him.

He squeezes back.

Ness can’t help but finally feel understood by someone. That someone would be there to listen and talk to him when he needs it most.

He hopes that he can also be there for that someone too if they ever feel troubled. To be a person to lean on, a shoulder to cry on.

Moving from the past will be hard. But he believes that as long as Kurona is there getting past it might not be so daunting.
