Drunk On Jealousy
1.
“Relax, Princess,” Mitchell chastised.
“I am,” she bit out through clenched teeth. “You relax.”
Her C.O chuckled. “I’m not the one glaring daggers at my boyfriend while he talks to another woman,” he teased. “You have nothing to be jealous of. Jackson would never do anything to hurt you,” he added in a serious soft tone.
Vala’s glare shifted to Mitchell. “I’m not jealous,” she denied bitterly. “And I know Daniel would never be unfaithful, but you have to admit, that hussy is all over him.”
“Hussy?” Samantha interjected. “Vala, come on. Let’s not get nasty,” she berated lightly.
Vala huffed. “But just look at her!” she continued, refusing to let any of her insecurities get the better of her. “She’s beautiful, intelligent, and shares his passion for old, dead things. Let’s not forget that she’s way too close to him – no one needs to be that close to look at a standing piece of rock.”
Okay, maybe some of her insecurities were rearing their little heads.
“Colonel Mitchell is right. Daniel Jackson is quite devoted to you, and would never jeopardize that,” Teal’c tried to soothe, but it wasn"t hitting the spot today.
The Jaffa was right, and at some point, she’d need to admit to herself that she was jealous. That she was having issues with her boyfriend being around another woman – especially one who had so much in common with him. Someone who could match him on that particular intellectual level. She would never care about languages or dead civilization the way he did, and she was starting to worry it would become a problem in the future.
When the woman she"d been eyeing laid an arm on her Daniel, she literally growled lowly – like some animal. Claiming she wasn"t jealous was getting harder by the second. “How does he not see what she"s doing?” she muttered to herself. Why was he allowing another woman to touch him?
“Oh for crying out loud!” Samantha snapped. “Go mark your territory already like any other animal.”
Vala twisted around. “What, like pee on him or something?”
Mitchell choked on water. “No peeing on anyone,” he ordered once he cleared the water out of his throat. “But Sam has the right idea.”
Her eyes shifted between her friends and the woman was way too comfortable with her Daniel. Fine. She was jealous. She snatched the canteen Mitchell had just choked on and stormed off in a huff to mark her territory.
Gods, she was losing it.
She couldn"t believe she was actually doing this but she was too far gone to stop. “Darling,” she greeted in a friendly voice that also told him she wasn"t happy. She slid between the two, not caring if she was rude. “You should hydrate. You"re looking a little red.” She held up the canteen.
Daniel"s brows furrowed a little but accepted the water. “Thanks,” his voice was warm and he had a small smile.
Vala softened just a smidgen. The fool didn"t even know why she was upset. He couldn"t even see that the woman was obviously into him. For someone so smart, he could be ridiculously daft. It just made her love him more. She lifted herself up on her toes, grabbed his face, and planted a big one on him. She smiled into the kiss when she heard a noise of surprise behind her.
“Don"t work too hard,” she allowed her voice to go all husky in the way that drove him crazy before stalking off.
Daniel would probably chastise her later for her behavior and how smug she felt, but she didn"t give a damn.
“Okay, that was kinda awesome,” Samantha admitted once she was back in the group. “You should"ve seen her face.”
Vala arched her eyebrows. “She knew he was taken and didn"t care?”
“Yep.”
“Bitch,” she muttered darkly. Well, at least she knew Vala was no pushover and she had control over Daniel.
Because he was hers.

New people were the worst.
They were all bright eyed and bushy tailed, as Jack liked to say. They had no knowledge of the SGC or its dynamics and would often make the wrong move unless otherwise directed – and that’s exactly what happened with the latest batch of newbies.
Vala was off world when they showed up and hadn"t been able to correct any undesirable behavior, so imagine her surprise to see the newest female anthropologist shamelessly throw herself at Vala’s fiancee – in their office, no less. It wasn’t just jealousy that attacked her. Oh no, possessiveness seized her.
She tried not to overreact – the woman was new. She didn"t know Daniel was hers. The new female scientists fawning over Daniel wasn"t new but this time, Vala had been sent on a mission aboard the Odyssey for the last week and hadn"t been able to show all the newbies that he was off the market. You’d think the multiple photos of them littering their office would’ve been a dead giveaway, but she obviously wasn"t the sharpest tool in the shed, and Daniel was, as always, completely oblivious.
“Hey, you’re back!” Daniel noticed her moments after she arrived in the doorway of their office. He eagerly came over to hug her, which she turned into a kiss. He hesitated only for a second before kissing her back. They typically kept the PDA to a minimum while at work but they’d been separated for a week. “I missed you,” he murmured lovingly to her.
Vala smiled and pecked his lips. “Missed you more.” She tapped his chest. “Ring, please.”
He chuckled and went for the chain around his neck that kept her engagement ring safe while she was away. “How’d it go?” he asked as he slipped the ring from the chain.
She allowed him to slip it onto her ring finger. “Boring,” she stated bluntly. “I don"t think it was necessary for me to be there, but duty calls and all that.”
“I’m sure that’s not true.”
She wasn"t going to debate the value of her skills – not when there was another woman in her space. “I see we have company.” She peeked over his shoulder and preened at the woman’s discontented expression.
Daniel jumped as if someone poked him with a needle. “Oh!” He spun them around. “Vala, this is, uh, Dr. Autumn Forniss,” he introduced. “She’s new in the anthropology department.”
Vala did the polite thing and held out her hand but that’s where it ended. “Vala Mal Doran. Daniel’s teammate, lab partner, and fiancee,” she left no room for interpretation and couldn"t resist adding, “Last I checked, this wasn"t the anthropology department and Daniel’s an archaeologist.”
Dr. Forniss’ eyes narrowed. Good, the message came across. “Both specialties often overlap.” It was like the woman was challenging her and her position. “I needed Dr. Jackson’s help.”
Vala barely held in a scoff. Gate travel had been light and the likelihood of something anthropological coming up wasn"t very high. She grabbed the file from the desk and quickly found the planet’s address. “We’ve already consulted on this file. See Dr. Lofvenborg for the notes and any additional questions,” she handed the file back and dismissed the woman before turning to Daniel. “Now, the wedding is rapidly approaching and unless you want to get married at Jack’s cabin –”
“Hard pass,” he interjected.
“ – we need a venue, and more importantly, a theme. I was thinking something like ‘Among the Stars’ since it’s where we met.”
“What, no glitz and glam?” he teased, his hands settling on her hips. “Very unlike you.”
Vala’s arms slinked around his neck. “Oh, I can make stars glitzy and glammy,” she assured him. “Stars glisten, which opens the door for sparkly, shiny things to mimic them. Dark setting with twinkle lights and maybe candles, but enough to bounce off my very sparkly dress Samantha and I found last week.”
Daniel looked intrigued. “You found a dress?” His hands tightened on her hips. “Can I see it on you?”
She knew he didn"t register the small huff from Dr. Forniss or her abrupt exit but she did. “Absolutely not,” she denied instantly. “Not until the wedding.”
He groaned in displeasure. “Fine,” he reluctantly accepted. “But maybe we should think about moving up the wedding.”
Vala slapped his shoulder. “Impatient,” she muttered.
“Very,” Daniel admitted without shame. “Can you blame me?”
Staring at him and feeling the intensity of love she held for him, she completely understood. “No, because I feel the same.”
The wedding may not have been as well put together as it could’ve been but the tradeoff was more than worth it.

“Vala, it’s Daniel,” Samantha said urgently as came up on her.
Vala dropped the sample tube and sprung up. “What happened?” she demanded. “I left him in a fucking library.”
She was about to run off when the Colonel stopped. “He’s not hurt!” she blurted out, looking guilty. “Sorry, I didn"t mean to imply that, but you should go to the library.”
Vala frowned. “Why?”
Samantha winced. “The librarian, she’s…very blatant.”
Her frown deepened. “What, like she’s coming onto him?” she guessed. “She knows we’re married.”
Her friend looked uncomfortable. “I don"t think she cares about that,” she tried to put it delicately. “Look, we both know Daniel would never do anything like that, but I wouldn"t be here, warning you, if I wasn"t concerned about her.”
Samantha had a point. Daniel had proven to be blind to women taking an interest in him. Most backed off when they discovered he was taken, but if this woman didn"t care, who knows what she might do. Just the thought alone of someone not acknowledging the bond of marriage made her blood boil.
“Thanks. I’ll take care of it.”
She made it to the library in record time. The building was massive for the size of the village so it took her a minute or two to find them, and when she did, she stayed in the shadows to watch before she reacted like a lunatic.
Vala could hear their conversation and she could definitely see why Samantha was worried. The woman wasn"t even subtle. She could see Daniel teetering on the edge and beginning to doubt the woman was just being friendly – he really did want to give people the benefit of the doubt and not jump to conclusions. Too bad he was often wrong, but he refused to give up that side of him – probably for the best.
Something primal surged forward when the librarian made her move and propositioned Daniel. If she wasn"t so furious she’d find his reaction hilarious – the sputtering, coughing, squirming under the librarian’s gaze. The only thing stopping her from bitch slapping the woman was Daniel telling her he was married.
“I know,” the librarian said slyly and pressed herself up against him, “but I won’t tell if you won’t.”
Annnnd with that, Vala lost her shit.
“Get your fucking hands off my husband!” she growled and she stalked over.
Daniel knew her well enough to recognize the gravity of the situation and quickly moved away from the alien and crossed the room. “Vala,” he warned as he stopped her midway. “Nothing happened. Let it go.”
“No, you let me go,” she gritted out and glared daggers at the other woman. “She needs to be taught a lesson not to fuck with people’s marriages.” She tried to break free of his grip, but he held fast.
“Is it my fault not every marriage is perfect?” the woman taunted.
Vala tried to lunge forward but Daniel’s grip remained unbreakable. “I’m gonna kick your ass!”
The librarian scoffed. “I’d like to see you try.”
“Okay, you –” Daniel pointed to the home wrecker, “ – are not helping. Get out of here before I let her go. And you,” he met her eyes, “need to stop acting like a lunatic. You’re being completely irrational.”
“Of course I’m irrational! I’m pregnant!” she blurted out. She registered his grip loosening. “I’m being flooded with an ungodly amount of hormones that’s making it hard to see straight. What else would I be?”
Daniel twisted her in his hold so they were flush. “You’re pregnant?” he breathed out, his face between bewilderment and pure joy. “We’re having a baby?”
Like the flip of a switch, she was no longer homicidal but instead all gooey. Probably helped that the librarian scurried away after her announcement. “Yeah,” she bit her lip nervously. “Is that okay?”
He laughed incredulously. “Sweetheart, it’s more than okay.” His hands slid down to her waist, resting on her hips, and he touched their foreheads together. “We’re gonna be parents,” he whispered in awe.
She smiled at the thought of him being a daddy. “Yeah, we are.”
Daniel pulled back. “How long have you known?” he inquired curiously.
Vala squirmed in his arms. “I took a home test two days ago,” she confessed sheepishly before shrugging helplessly. “I didn’t know how to tell you.”
He kissed her forehead. “I get it. I’m not mad,” he assured her. “But next time, maybe not tell me while threatening to kick another woman’s ass.”
She arched her eyebrow. “Who says there’ll be a next time?” she questioned. “You want more than one?”
Daniel glanced down to her belly before covering it with his hand. “I’ll take as many as you’ll allow me to put inside you.”
“Even if it"s twelve?”
He coughed. “Uhh, not sure if that’s possible, but yeah…sure.”
Vala pushed at his shoulder. “You’re wonko.”
“And you love me for it,” he retorted. “Speaking of wonko, I didn"t hurt you, did I?” he asked cautiously as he gently brushed across her stomach.
She smiled at his concern. “I’m fine,” she promised. “Still getting used to the intensity of these hormones. They’re already a bitch and they’ll just get worse.”
Daniel pulled her flush to him. “Yeah, but in the end it’ll be worth it since we’ll have a baby – something we made.”
He was right. It was so worth it.

Daniel tended to view himself as more evolved than most people. He didn"t cave to his baser instincts. He wasn"t the jealous type. He liked to think he was above that and felt secure in his relationship. Yeah, sure, Vala flirted a lot but he always understood it was harmless and just in her nature. It never once bothered him.
Yet, here he was, crushing the plastic cup he held into pieces as he watched Cameron Mitchell kiss his wife. Who cares if it was mistletoe? Who cares if the man was one too many drinks in. There was no need to kiss her on the lips – the cheek would"ve sufficed.
Before he even realized what he was doing, he was already pushing Mitchell off his wife. “What the hell, Cam?”
The Colonel stumbled more than he usually would if he’d been sober. “What I do?” he mumbled.
Daniel made a move towards him but Vala stepped in front of him and began pushing him from the room. “Vala, stop!”
“No, you stop!” she snapped and with one final push, shoved him outside. “What is wrong with you?”
He gaped at her. “What’s wrong with me?” he repeated bitterly. “What’s wrong is one of my best friends just frenched my wife!”
Vala punched his shoulder and he held a wince. “He did not french me,” she argued. “He gave me a polite peck under the mistletoe like most people do at this time of year!”
“And what was wrong with your cheek or forehead?” His eyes shot daggers into the house.
She growled. “It’s a Christmas party, Daniel!” she pointed out. “He indulged a little too much in the eggnog like he does every year. What makes him kissing me this year different from the others?”
“You’re my wife!” he repeated loudly. “You’re pregnant with my child. I have a right to be upset!”
Vala tilted her head and she fought a smile. “You"re…you’re jealous,” she stated almost gleefully. “Dr. Daniel Jackson is actually jealous.”
Daniel grunted. “What, you"re allowed to be but I"m not?”
This time, she did more than smile, she giggled. “You"re never jealous. You think it"s an ugly emotion.”
He crossed his arms defensively. “It is, but I am nonetheless.” He was thankful to the darkness for hiding his blush.
She stepped closed and cupped his cheeks. “What’s going on, Daniel?” she asked in concern. “This isn’t like you. What’s so different about tonight?”
What indeed ? He huffed. “You’re pregnant,” he blurted out.
Vala raised an eyebrow. “Yes, I’m quite aware of that.” She gestured to her protruding belly.
Daniel felt a small smile fall on his face as he stared at his child growing inside her. “This pregnancy is triggering a caveman part of me I wasn"t aware existed,” he confessed sheepishly and cupped her belly. “Ever since I found out about the baby, I’ve felt possessive and jealous over you. It’s like a primal switch was turned on.”
When she didn’t respond, he assumed she was mad and decided to keep his eyes down. He probably should apologize, but at the same time, he felt like he had nothing to apologize for. Cam crossed a line – a line Daniel would’ve never done if the situation had been reversed.
“Daniel,” she started firmly and he tensed, waiting for her chastising to start, “you have two options. You either take me home and have your way with me or I could start yelling about how stupid you are, amongst other things. You have ten seconds to decide.”
“What?” he asked as he reared back to get a better look at her face.
Vala shrugged innocently. “What can I say, your insane jealousy is quite a turn on,” she smirked. “Now, are you going to fuck me or do I need to start shouting?”
Daniel didn"t waste a second before dragging her to the car.
Maybe jealousy wasn"t so bad.
The End.
