Work Text:
Twas the night before Christmas, and everyone was invited to Justice headquarters for a Christmas party! (Yippee!)
Advent and Justice stood on equal grounds with a truce. “ONLY because it's Christmas…” Shiori could almost hear the embarrassed Exardian’s voice in her head as she remembered the leader of Justice handing her the party invite.
Speaking of Advent, Mococo and Nerissa both stood with drinks in their hands, leaning against either side of the dining room entrance.
They were chatting, and just as Shiori was about to walk over to join them, Nerissa pointed up to a hanging ornament above them and said,
“Ooo, Mogo John, look, you know what that is?”
Mococo tilted her head in confusion as she looked up, and when it hit her, her face turned beet red. The dog looked up at the mistletoe, hanging above them, and then back at Nerissa in disbelief.
Nerissa closed her eyes and leaned close, “C’mooon Mococœ. Aren’t you going to give me a kiss?” She teased.
Shiori feels an awful but familiar emotion claw at her chest as she hears the words.
The puppy's tail wagged in excitement immediately when Nerissa closed her eyes. Her realization settled in, and the pup decided she wasn’t going to lose her chance.
Suddenly, to Nerissa’s surprise, she actually feels the dog’s lips against hers; she spills her drink, but the dog doesn’t notice as she deepens the kiss.
Mococo’s lips were soft, and the heat radiating off Mococo’s face just made her even warmer. Nerissa was melting.
Then they parted.
Nerissa's eyes fluttered open.
“U-uhm, thanks…” Nerissa says, a big goofy smile on her face. “You didn’t actually have to ... I was just messing with you.”
Blue eyes met hers, half-lidded, and she swore she could see them sparkling with excitement.
The puppy did not respond and just stared at Nerissa, tail wagging, as if she was in a trance. Nerissa decided to break the silence.
“We should get out of the way—“ she says, as she starts to walk away from the entrance and makes eye contact with Shiori. Shiori’s face seemed calm and collected, but the red cup she was holding was crushed in her hand. Before she could say anything to her though, Nerissa felt someone grab onto her wrist and mumble.
“What did you say, Mococo?” She questions the pup as she turns to face her.
“Again, please?” Mococo says again, loud enough for Rissa to hear this time. Nerissa leans down to kiss her forehead, getting Deja Vu.
“Not like that…” Mococo whines.
‘Oh, Mogojohn, you’re too cute…’ Nerissa thinks. She can’t help but give the dog what she wants; she tilts the demon dog's head up by the chin and leans down to give her another chaste kiss.
“Again”
And another
“Again!”
And another
“Again!”
And another,
“Ag—“
“Alright, lovebirds, if you don’t clean up this mess, I’ll let justice capture you.” They both turned to Shiori. They were too busy kissing to notice her approach them prior. She had her arms crossed and an unreadable expression on her face.
They both looked at Shiori, faces shocked then apologetic. Both women were beet red. “I’m so sorry, Shiori; I’ll clean that now,” the doggo ran to the kitchen to find paper towels, leaving Shiori alone with Nerissa.
“What’s wrong, darling?” Nerissa questions, genuine love and concern dripping from her voice.
Shiori tried to continue looking indifferent, but the longer the raven’s wet, pleading cat eyes stared down at her, the less she could resist.
“I’ll talk to you about it later.” Her eyes softened but persisted in avoiding meeting Nerissa’s own.
That's when, suddenly, something clicked in the raven’s head.
The crushed cup.
The interrupting of the kiss.
Shiori’s jealous voice.
The same jealous voice when they did the same thing in Minecraft a while ago.
Except, now, it must be worse for Shiori. This time it was the real thing.
‘Oh, Shiori.’ Nerissa felt awful. Stupid. Sad.
It’s not like they were dating, but…
‘I don’t know.’
Nerissa truly did not know where that thought was going to go. All she was sure of was the feeling of her chest tightening with guilt.
Shiori could sense her wet cat getting soggier and soggier, so she snapped out of her own brooding. “There, there, Rissa, I promise I'm okay, really. It’s not serious, and I’ll actually tell you later, okay?”
At this point, Mococo finished cleaning up the spill and approached the two girls again.
“Uhm...” Mococo pointed at the mistletoe. “Does that mean Shiori has to kiss Nerissa?”
Shiori’s breath hitched at the suggestion.
The Raven pitches in, “Well, there are three of us under here now, so—“
Before anyone could say another word, the goth had pulled the fuzzy dog close, “Shiori!” Mococo squealed, a bright red blush spreading across her features.
“I’m going to kiss you now; is that okay?” Shiori whispers, and it makes Mococo shudder with anticipation.
She couldn’t speak, so all she could do was nod frantically enough in hopes Shiori would get the hint.
Nerissa stared in absolute bafflement as Shiori passionately kissed the girl she thought Shiori was jealous of.
A string of saliva connected them as they parted. Mococo was flushed down to her shoulders and out of breath, still processing the deep kiss she shared with the advents leader. Shiori lovingly admired the dog's features from up close before giving her another kiss on the cheek.
“What’s happening right now…” Nerissa questions, growing flustered herself at the sight.
“Mistletoe.” Shiori points at it above them.
“Yeah, but weren’t you just—“
“Jealous?” Nerissa doesn’t know if Shiori was answering her or accusing her.
Before the Raven could respond, the archiver wrapped her arms around Rissa’s neck, pulling her down.
She gives her a short, sweet peck on the lips before leaning in to whisper in Nerissa’s ear.
“Maybe... I was jealous of the both of you...?” She sounds as surprised as Nerissa is hearing it.
‘Oh.’
Nerissa thinks she gets it now.
Then, remembering the moment she shared with the very same demon dog minutes before this, butterflies filled her own stomach.
Oh she definitely gets it. She understands a little too well now, actually.
“Anyways, tootaloo ~ thanks for cleaning up your mess, good doggy, and for the kisses!” She blows Mococo and Nerissa one last kiss as she practically skips away.
“Wait, what! Why didn’t I get a real kiss like Mogo John did?!” Nerissa's cries fall on deaf ears, however, as the archivist has already disappeared into the crowd.
Nerissa’s head falls in defeat as she sulks… “Aw man…”
Mococo stands next to her, tugging at her sleeve. Nerissa’s attention averts to the doggo. The cute, adorable blonde doggo with pink highlights standing in front of her. Mococo with her beautiful baby blue eyes and soft, squishable cheeks. Her own fuzzy, cute Mococo.
“Nerissa... maybe I can try repeating what Shiori did to me when she kissed me to you... To make it up to you. I mean,” her ears flattened shyly against her head, “I know Moco-chan isn’t Shiori... So I get if you don’t want me to…” Nerissa perks right up and puts her hands on the doggo's shoulders.
“NO, YOU'RE A GENIUS! PLEASE KISS ME LIKE SHIORI KISSED YOU!”
A smile spreads on Mococo’s face as her tail wags excitedly.
“Okay, wait—“
A familiar German accent is heard from behind them. Cecilia is standing there with an annoyed expression on her face. She’s wearing a Hawaiian shirt for some reason with a green Santa hat and has Kool-Aid in a wine glass in her left hand.
“If you guys are going to keep being disgusting,” Cece continues, gesturing to the walkway of the kitchen the two girls are standing under, “…can you do it somewhere else?”
“…”
“…”
The automaton sighs.
“Please?”
