Work Text:
Growing up in a house of only boys and one girl sucked. Ok she was over exaggerating just a tiny bit.
It was better when they where kids. Before they learned about gender roles and how different she was.
Militsa or just Milly really did have a good childhood. She whould geek out over space heros with Leo. Help Donnie in his lab and play dolls with raph and spike. She would sometimes even get all three brothers to play with her.
She loved her brothers and they loved her. She was their only sister so they where obviously over protective of her but on top of it she, at an early age had been declared the youngest. (Even though they where all the same age.)
The protectiveness had become almost crushing. They acted like if she stubbed her toe she whould shatter into a million peaces. She loved them but God did she hate it.
The gender roles thing was also annoying. The TV had taught them that cleaning and cooking was for girls.
Splinter had been no help in taking down that assumption even enforcing it a little bit. Constanly telling her to make food and pick up around the lair.
When they had started their training sensei had declared that Milly would become a kunoichi and not a ninja. She was fine with it at the time not realy knowing the difference.
But now she hated it having to beg and plead to their farther to let her learn more attacks and different ways to take down their opponents instead of run away from them.
When choosing weapons their sensei had originally given Milly a tessen.
He had retracted the weapon when she immediately almost broke it.
She had begged her father to give her the nunchucku. He had denied over and over again, saying that 'The nunchucku is not a kunoichi's weapon'. But Milly never gave up. After a week of refusing to cook for them he finally gave in.
Milly was ecstatic finally able to train like her brothers did.
Lost in thought she had not realized splinter was talking.
"Militsa!" Splinter shouted in frustration.
"Oh uh yes sensei?" She croaked out. She hated how high her voice was compared to her brothers.
"Have you not been listening at all?" Her father sighed out. "Donatello can you summerize for you sister?"
"Yes sensei." He chirpped "Milly sensei wants us to spar-."
"That's all? Don't we do that like every day?" Milly said with a small giggle.
"Milly you gotta let me finish. Sensei wants us to spar blindfolded." Her brother finished pinching where his nose whould be.
"Militsa, maybe you should sit oit for this lesson." Her father said with a sigh.
"What? But sensei I can do this!" She pleaded sitting straighter. "I can focus I promise!"
"No, Militsa. I believe this exercise might be to... difficult for you. Why don't you go prepare lunch for when we finish."
"Sensei I-"
"No" her father cut her off. "I have made my decision go. We won't be long."
Standing she walked to the door. At the door she looked back to her brothers Leo looked straight ahead. Raph looked away and shook his head almost... disappointed. Donnie gave her a look of pitty. She hated it when he did that.
Sulking back to the kitchen she sat down on the table not wanting to cook.
Picking up her t-phone she called the one other girl she knew.
"Hey Milly, how are you!" April said once she picked up.
"Hi April I'm... living" Milly responded to her friend.
"Milly, what's wrong? Isn't right now when you have training?" April questioned.
"Yeah but I'm uh making lunch and I need ideas." She said trying to deflect the question.
"Milly why are you making lunch and not in training?" April persisted.
"Um sensei kicked me out cuz i wasnt paying attention and told me to go make lunch." To be truthful this wasn't the fist time this had happed. To be relay honest it probably won't be the last.
"WHAT?!" April practically screamed into the mic. "No way he told you to go back to the kitchen? Hold on Mimi I'll be right there." April yelled something about going to a friend's house presumablyher dad then abruptly hung up.
Milly was left standing in the middle of kitchen. She was in shock of what had just happened. The phone still next to her ear buzzed a few time then fell still. She looked down to see a few quickly written texts from April.
April:Dont you dair make ANY food
April:I'll be right ther
April: i swear you dads borderline sexist.
She sent back a thumbs up and sat down.
She realy hoped April would get here before her brothers where done
