Chapter Text
The day before Adriana is set to head back to New York, he tells her about wanting to go to El Paso to speak with Chris and tell him everything. She fully supports this— telling him she’ll help in whatever way she can.
“I was thinking of calling him first— letting him know I’m going to book a flight to come see him because we need to speak,” he tells her and Buck— the three of them are lounging in the living room before they need to get ready and head to dinner at Maddie’s. They invited them over before Adriana leaves and so she could meet everyone else— and likely for everyone to interrogate Buck and Eddie about their new relationship.
“And if he tells you not to come?” Adriana asks.
“That’ll hurt like a bitch but that’s why I wanna call him now so that you can both be here and maybe help encourage this for me?” Eddie asks them.
“Of course,” Buck tells him, rubbing his shoulder. “Whatever you need.”
“Yeah— I’ll put fear in him if he dares to test me,” Adriana tells him.
“Oh my God,” Eddie says, shaking his head.
Adriana rolls her eyes and says, “Just call him.”
Eddie turns his head to look at Buck who squeezes his shoulder. “It’ll be fine,” he says softly, smiling— trying to reassure him.
He takes a deep breath then faces forward. He brings his tablet up to his face and hits the video call with Chris.
Buck pulls away from him— sitting on the other end of the couch since Adriana’s sitting in the arm chair.
Chris answers the call— he’s sitting at his desk and looks like he was playing video games with his headphones on. “Hey Chris,” Eddie says, grinning.
He answered the call during video games— that’s a good sign.
“Hey dad,” Chris says. “What’s up? I’m playing video games with my friend.”
“Oh yeah—“ Eddie stutters. “I wanted to talk to you about something.”
“What is it?” Chris asks, giving him the time to do this now.
“I want to come to El Paso soon so we can talk,” he says quickly so he doesn’t back out. “I know you— you need your space and time away— but we really need to speak in person, mijo— I have things I need to tell you and they can’t happen through a screen. So I wanted to let you know that I plan on booking a flight to come and see you.”
He watches Chris, waiting for him to process everything he just said. He hears him sigh and says, “Okay— just text me which day you’re coming. I gotta go.”
The call ends and Eddie’s looking at a history log on FaceTime. He looks up at his sister who says, “Well that couldn’t have gone better.”
Eddie chuckles, putting down the tablet back on the coffee table. He looks over at Buck who’s smiling and scooches back in closer to him, wrapping his arms around him— pulling him into his side— a big smile on his face. “This is great,” Buck tells him.
“Yeah—“ Eddie grins, hugging Buck back, his face in his chest.
“When are you gonna leave?” Buck asks, pulling back to look at him.
“I should start looking—“ he says, reaching back for the tablet and opening a search for flights from LA to El Paso— one way. He’s coming home with his son, he can book their tickets later.
Buck cuddles up close to him on the couch, watching him look through flights and his calendar to see what he can make work without waiting too long— he doesn’t want to give Chris enough time to tell him not to come or think that he isn’t really coming.
It’s Tuesday and tomorrow is his last day off for five days. He sees a flight that isn’t too expensive leaving on Sunday— he’s doing a twenty-four hour shift the night before so on Sunday at eight am he’ll be done work for that day— it’s just that he’s supposed to work on Monday then he’ll be off for a few more days so he’d need to get someone to cover him for a day. Thankfully he’ll be seeing everyone shortly and can see who can cover him— or if Bobby can find someone if Hen or Chimney can’t.
He saves this flight information so that he can book it as soon as he has the okay. He looks over at Buck and kisses his birthmark since he’s laying his head on his shoulder, and says, “We should probably get ready to head for dinner.”
Buck groans, “I’m comfy,” he says, putting his face into Eddie’s arm, kissing him softly.
Eddie giggles— he brings his lips down to Buck’s ear and asks, “Wanna shower with me?”
Buck perks up right away— grabbing Eddie’s hand as he shoots up in his seat then up onto his feet, pulling Eddie with him.
Eddie laughs as Buck pulls him easily down the hall towards the washroom.
“You guys are gross,” Adriana calls out after them.
Ignoring her, they stop quickly just to grab some towels before they’re both in the washroom with the door locked and Eddie pressed up against it, Buck all over him.
Eddie moans into the kiss as Buck slots himself between his legs, his hands roaming down his body so he can hoist Eddie up a bit, his ass in his hands.
“You feel so good, baby,” Eddie moans, his hands coming up to his chest to push him back a bit. “Let’s get inside,” he tells him.
They strip down and as Buck turns the water on, making sure it’s hot, as Eddie turns the fan on. Buck steps into the tub and moves over a bit to let Eddie in. Eddie closes the shower curtain and is met with Buck turning him carefully in his arms and pressing him into the shower wall.
He dips his head slightly down so that he can kiss Eddie, his hands holding him up against him. Eddie slips his tongue into Buck’s mouth as he grabs his ass then runs his hands up his back, feeling the hot water hitting his hands.
Buck pulls back slightly, looking into Eddie’s eyes, his lips parted as he takes a breath. Eddie says, “You’re so hot, Buck— need you so bad,” as he slides his hands back down to his ass, grabbing it and pulling him harder against him— their hard cocks sliding against each other.
“Fuuu—,” Buck moans out, leaning in to kiss Eddie again, biting his bottom lip. Eddie reaches between them and takes both their cocks in his big hand and Buck moans into the kiss again. Buck pulls back, resting his forehead against Eddie’s and looks down between them watching Eddie stroke them. “Your hand is so big— God, Eddie—” he pants.
Buck kisses him again, his left hand grabs onto his ass and the other moving up his body to hold onto the side of his neck, his thumb caressing against his cheek and down to his jaw.
Eddie strokes their cocks in time with their thrusts and grinds against each other and the friction mixed with the heat from the shower is so overwhelming in the most intense and insatiable way. “I’m so close, baby,” he moans against his lips, his head pulling back to lean against the shower wall.
“Me too— cum for me, baby,” Buck tells him before attaching his lips to his neck, sucking low on his collarbone before dragging his teeth across his neck.
“Fuuu—” Eddie moans out as he starts to cum between them and in his hand. Buck kisses him hard and he finishes his moan into the kiss.
Buck’s coming hard between them too— can feel his cock pulsing as he comes hard in his hand and all over his cock.
They pull apart enough to rest their foreheads against each other, panting. Buck pulls back and steps back into the water, pulling Eddie with him so they can clean themselves off in the shower. Eddie smiles up at him when Buck grabs the loofah and body wash. He tells him to turn around so he does and lets Buck wash his back, his legs, then his front as well. They wash each other and it feels intimate and special— he’s never felt this taken care of by another person and it’s not just anyone— it’s Buck. His best friend and his partner— the love of his life.
Once the three of them are ready, Buck drives them over to Maddie’s. Adriana’s sitting in the back holding the basket of baked goods Buck made for Maddie since the last time she baked for her she couldn’t eat any of it but Buck didn’t know she was pregnant yet.
They’re all welcomed in— everyone’s already there— and Jee comes running over and hugging Buck’s legs. He picks her up and hugs her. “How’s my favorite girl?” he asks her.
“Good,” she giggles.
“I had so much fun with you yesterday,” he tells her. “We both did,” he adds nodding over to Eddie beside him.
“Yes, we did,” Eddie tells her, poking at her stomach, making her giggle more.
Buck puts her down and she goes back to playing with Mara and Denny. They hug everyone and Eddie introduces Adriana to everyone properly— apologizing he didn’t do it sooner but didn’t think there would be any time or that anyone cared this much.
Adriana brings the basket of baked goods into the kitchen, following Maddie in there showing her where to leave it. Buck and Eddie sit at the table with Bobby, Athena, Hen, and Karen, accepting the wine that Karen hands him and pouring him and Buck a glass each.
The second Chim, Maddie, and Adriana join them— they all start asking questions— to him and Buck.
When did this officially start? - Hen
Did what start? - Athena
Buck and Eddie are a couple. - Maddie
What? Since when? - Bobby
So you were faking a relationship instead of just saying you weren’t dating and telling your sister no to dates? - Hen
When did you realize your feelings, Eddie? - Karen
And you, Buck? - Karen again
Telling them everything— to an extent— is a lot of attention Eddie doesn’t really want— but this is how this 118 family is. Always there, through it all.
Buck rubs Eddie’s back and says, “Alright, that’s enough of us— Adriana,” diverting the spotlight of them and onto his sister— genius. “Tell everyone about the scenes you filmed on Hotshots,” he nudges.
Adriana leans her elbows on the table and says, “Oh my God, it was so fun.”
“So you met Brad? He’s something huh?” Bobby asks her, going with the new conversation.
Eddie tunes them out and looks at Buck sitting beside him, his hand still on his back, moving up and down soothingly. Buck winks at him, an easy smile on his face— Eddie feels like he melts a little inside.
He loves him so much. He just doesn’t think he should yet— not when he hasn’t told Christopher about it yet.
Eddie puts his hand on Buck’s thigh and smiles at him. He focuses back into the conversation— listening to his sister and his 118 family getting to know each other. Happy that they’re all together— almost.
After dinner, Eddie finds a moment to ask Hen and Chim if either of them could cover one of his shifts so he could go see Christopher in El Paso. Chim tells him that he could cover for him— they basically swap shifts, Eddie will take one of Chim’s when he gets back.
Eddie books the flight on his phone before the price changes. He texts Chris telling him he’ll be there Sunday in the late afternoon. Chris puts a thumbs up reaction to the message and doesn’t reply. He hopes Chris doesn’t mention anything to his parents yet— he’s planning to tell them closer to leaving so he doesn’t have to deal with them trying to talk him out of it.
Eddie puts his phone away and leans into Buck kissing him on the cheek. Maddie and Karen bring out the desserts and Hen follows out with some decaf coffees for whoever had said they wanted.
This was a great last night to spend with his sister and the rest of his family— the people who feel more like a family than his parents ever did. He can’t wait for Chris to come home so he can be with them on evenings like this.
*
Adriana leaves and they spend their last full day off running errands, cleaning Christopher’s room and the house, doing laundry, and Eddie packing for El Paso.
The next few days went by quickly but yet they still felt slow because Eddie just kept thinking about his son and wishing he was there already so he could bring him home.
Buck drops him off at the airport on Sunday soon after their shift— neither of them having slept all that much since they were at work and they had a couple calls throughout the night so they didn’t sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time.
He comes inside with him, wanting to be there inside with him as far as he could go so that he could kiss and hug him and say goodbye.
Eddie does everything he has to do before he’s walking to his gate. He’s got about an hour before his plane is going to start boarding so he goes to grab something to eat and bring with him on the plane.
Chris managed to not tell his grandparents anything until yesterday when he was on FaceTime with him. He asked him what time he was going to be here when his mom was in the room. It was a whole thing— it’s never nothing with them.
She was dramatic which isn’t surprising but what felt nice was Chris telling her that Eddie had asked him first days ago and he said it was fine. Eddie felt so good about that— Chris having his back against his grandmother and acknowledging that he’s fine with seeing him.
They quickly said their goodbyes after that so Eddie didn’t have to keep dealing with her for much longer— that is until he gets there today and has to stay for who knows how long— hopefully not long at all.
He gets to his family home in El Paso by three o’clock— thankfully he was able to sleep most of the flight.
He rings and after a few moments his dad opens the door. “Good to see you, son,” he tells him, stepping out of the way to let him inside.
“Yeah— uh, you too,” he says, patting his shoulder. He walks in and doesn’t see anyone.
“Your mother is in the kitchen and Chris is in his room,” Ramon tells him.
His room is in LA.
Eddie nods and heads straight for Chris. He sees that he’s set up in his old bedroom and even though he hates that he’s even been living here for three months and he hated living here growing up— it still makes him smile to see him in his old bedroom.
He knocks on the open door and says, “Hey,” when Chris turns around at his desk to see who’s there.
“Hey, dad,” he says, a quick smile appearing before he schools his emotions.
Eddie walks in and drops his bag on the floor. He closes the door, wanting to have privacy when discussing this with his son. He walks over to Chris and kisses his head. Chris is just on YouTube so he pauses what he’s watching— someone playing video games— and turns around. Eddie sits on the edge of his bed and pats the space next to him.
Chris gets up and Eddie helps him over to the bed, moving over to give him his spot closer to the chair. “How are you? Everything’s been going okay for you here?” Eddie asks once he’s seated beside him.
“Good— I made a few friends,” Chris tells him.
“What about staying here with your grandparents?” he asks.
Chris shrugs, “Fine— they’re kinda strict— worse than you,” he tells him.
Eddie chuckles— and that is on breaking generational trauma. “Yeah, I— uh— I know they are,” he says. “So I came here to talk to you about some stuff that I didn’t want to discuss over the phone.”
Chris nods, turning himself halfway so he can look at Eddie. He takes a deep breath and finds the courage and strength to get this all out— it’s now or never and he needs his son back home with him.
“I think I should start by saying that I love you so much, Chris,” Eddie tells him. “I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes throughout your life like not being there for you and your mom when you were a baby and when she passed away— I’ve been struggling with that since it happened and it hasn’t been fair to you. I should have been there more for you— been there to listen to you and to grieve with you— instead I shut it all out and didn’t handle all the feelings I had about it.”
Chris stays silent— listening— playing with his hands in his lap.
Eddie continues, “What happened with Marisol and— Kim— that was a huge mistake. I just want you to know that what happened with Kim will always be the biggest regret of my life. When I saw her— I thought it was your mom— the resemblance was just so uncanny and something in me told me to get to know her and I think that my subconscious wanted me to talk to her to be able to resolve my grief and my guilt I feel towards your mom and her death.”
“Guilt?” Chris asks. “It was an accident— that’s what you said.”
“Yes, it was an accident—” Eddie sighs. “I feel guilt because of how I treated her during our marriage. I left her alone a lot and then I punished her when she left and wanted to come back into your life. I didn’t trust her and I should have— I never should have tried to keep her from you and I feel guilty about that all the time.” Eddie fights the tears but some slide down his cheeks.
“That— that’s not your fault, dad,” Chris tells him.
More tears fall and he takes Chris’s hand in his, squeezing it. “Thanks, buddy,” he tells him, more tears falling.
“I— was upset because she looked a lot like mom,” Chris tells him. “I wish— she was never at our house but— I— I understand why you were hanging out with her.”
“I’m so sorry, Chris,” he says. “I didn’t ask her to come over— she just showed up and I kept telling her no, that I didn’t want to do this but she thought it would help me to get my feelings out and tell her everything I never got to say to your mom.”
“Did it help?” Chris asks.
“A little,” Eddie says. “It wasn’t until I spoke with a priest that a lot of things became clear to me.”
Chris giggles, “A priest?!” he asks, confused. “Why would you see a priest?”
Eddie chuckles, “Honestly? I don’t know— I think that there’s a lot of unresolved Catholic guilt that I have because of my parents and when I tried therapy— I didn’t find it helpful so I ended up in confession with a priest.”
“That helped?” Chris asks.
“At first, no,” Eddie tells him. “But I saw the priest a few days later and we had a really good conversation. It happened randomly— he saw me at a juice stand and— I guess he recognized my voice. He said he felt like he was being drawn to that juice stand.”
Chris scoffs, “Okay.”
“Yeah— I thought the same thing,” Eddie smiles. “But uh— it really helped actually— talking to him. He made me realize a lot about myself.”
“Like what?” Chris asks.
Eddie lets out a deep breath, “Like I’m gay,” he says, just letting it out.
“Oh—” Chris says, taken aback.
“Are you okay? Um— is that weird for you or—” Eddie asks, worried now.
“No,” Chris says quickly. “It’s not weird to be gay, dad,” he rolls his eyes. “I always thought you loved Buck like— like you were supposed to love mom so this makes sense.”
Eddie chuckles. “For the record— I did love your mom— I still do. She’ll always have a big piece of my heart,” he tells him.
“But you weren’t in love with her, right?” Chris asks. “Not like with Buck.”
His son is way too perceptive.
Eddie nods, a small smile on his face. “Yeah— I love your mom but I’m in love with Buck,” he confirms.
“Is that why he and Tommy broke up?” Chris asks him.
“No,” he shakes his head. “Well— not directly. I think Tommy realized that Buck is a part of our family and would always choose us first— you especially,” he nudges him on the shoulder with his.
“Are you and Buck together now?” he asks him, looking into his eyes.
“Would that be okay with you?” he asks instead. “I don’t want to do anything that will upset you ever again— not like this. It’s been hard being without you for so long, mijo.”
“I know— I shouldn’t have come here. I was— just so mad at you,” Chris tells him.
“You’re not still mad?” Eddie asks cautiously.
“I was for a while,” Chris tells him. “Not anymore— this helps.”
Eddie hugs him tight and feels Chris hug him back. He’s crying again but they’re happy tears.
He pulls back and Chris adds, “And yeah— it’s okay with me if you and Buck wanna be boyfriends.”
Eddie grins, “That means a lot to me, kiddo— but what would mean more is if you would come home with me.”
“Okay,” Chris says. “I miss it anyway— this house is kinda creepy.”
Eddie laughs, pulling Chris into his side. “Don’t I know it— but don’t ever tell your Abuelita that,” he tells him.
“No shit,” Chris says.
“God, I missed you,” Eddie says, his arm wrapped around him.
“I missed you too, dad,” Chris tells him. “Just— stay away from women— I think it’s best for everyone that way.”
Eddie bursts out laughing, shoving Chris softly. “Smart ass,” he says through his laughter.
There’s a light knock on the door before it opens, Helena popping her head in. “Sounds like things are going well in here,” she says— but why isn’t she smiling?
“Yeah— good,” Eddie tells her. “Hi, mom— sorry I didn’t come say hi, wanted to see Chris first.”
“That’s okay,” she tells him. “I’ve set you up in your sisters' old room while you’re here— how long will you be here anyway?”
Nice, mom .
“Didn’t book my return flight yet but—” he starts to say and looks down at Chris.
Chris turns to look at his grandmother and finishes Eddie’s sentence, “I’m going home with dad— I want to.”
Eddie smiles at him and looks up to see his mom trying hard not to rage out right now. She asks him, “Are you sure, mi amor? Your father—”
“What are you doing?” he interrupts her. “Are you really trying to talk my son out of coming home with me? You’re unbelievable.”
“No fighting— please,” Chris tells them before Helena can respond.
“I’m sorry,” Eddie tells him.
“I want to go home,” Chris says, looking up at her. “Dad apologized and explained everything— it’s good enough for me so it should be good enough for you.”
God, he loves this kid.
Eddie kisses his head, he’s so proud of him and doesn’t know how he lucked out with such an amazing, sweet, and empathetic son— none of the things he was growing up— his parents made sure of that.
Helena puts her hands up then back down to her sides in defeat. “Okay— if that’s what you want, Christopher. You can always come back if you want to, okay?” she tells him.
Eddie bites his tongue, not saying anything ‘cause he knows it’ll start a fight.
“I know,” Chris tells her.
She nods then leaves the room. Eddie pulls Chris into his side again and says, “Thanks for that.”
“We got each other’s back, right?” Chris tells him. “That’s what Buck always says— the three of us gotta have each other’s back.”
Eddie smiles at him. “Exactly right. We will always have your back,” he reassures him. “I promise to do better for you— and for me— for our family— me, you, and Buck.”
“Good,” Chris says simply, smiling. “Speaking of Buck— we should prank him.”
“What did you have in mind?” Eddie asks, a big smile on his face.
It’s a good day when Chris wants to involve Eddie in a prank against Buck.
*
Since Eddie is off the next few days, he doesn’t just book anything to get back home— though, he doesn’t want to spend all his days off at his parents house.
But to properly execute this prank on Buck, he can’t come home right away.
The next day, Eddie calls Christopher’s school in LA to find out what the process is to get him back in for this year. They said there’s no issues since he’s only going to have missed about two weeks before he comes back. They said he might need to do some extra hours with a tutor to catch up but that he’s very bright and should catch up quickly.
Eddie brings Chris to his new school in El Paso— his dad lent him his car for the day as he wasn’t planning to go anywhere— and informs them that tomorrow will be his last day at this school because he’s moving back to California with him. They make the necessary changes to his file and Eddie heads to a coffee shop nearby— he doesn’t want to spend extra time with his parents if he doesn’t have to.
Eddie opens up the tab he left open on his tablet last night with flights from El Paso to LA. He had noticed a flight on Wednesday that wasn’t too expensive and it still isn’t so he books that one for him and Chris.
Once he’s done and is just sipping his coffee and scrolling on his tablet he gets an incoming call from Buck. He picks up his phone to answer there since it’s a regular voice call.
“Hey, baby,” he answers.
Buck giggles softly into the phone. “Well that’s a great way to be greeted,” he says. “Hi, how are you? How’s it going with Chris? Is he good?”
Eddie tries not to laugh, schooling his emotions. He sighs, playing it up. “I don’t know, Buck,” he says. “We talked but—”
“What happened?” Buck asks, when he doesn’t continue.
“He still seems mad about everything,” he tells him. “Doesn’t help that my mom isn’t encouraging him either. She’s always wanted a re-do at being a parent and now she has that with Chris—”
“Hey, Eds—” Buck says, “It’s okay— it’ll be okay. He just needs time to process everything. Did you— uh— tell him everything?”
This is gonna hurt but he has to do it for the prank— for his son. He doesn’t want to ruin this when he just got him to forgive him.
“I did— baby, I—” Eddie sighs.
“Oh,” Buck says softly, he can hear the hurt in his tone just from one word.
“He has a lot of issues because of me— and his mother— I don’t think he has a lot of trust that this will work and he’s afraid you’ll abandon us too. This isn’t anything against you, Buck,” he tells him, wanting to make him feel better but also knowing he can’t be completely honest without ruining the prank— though, this is a concern for Christopher. Late last night before bed he asked if Eddie was sure Buck won’t abandon them too.
“Eddie, I would never—” Buck tells him. “I lo— I would never abandon either of you, you’re both way too important to me.”
“I know, baby,” Eddie says, reassuringly. “He just needs time to adjust but— I honestly don’t know if he’s going to come home with me.”
“You still have some time, don’t give up hope,” Buck tells him, always trying to be positive. “He wants to come home— I just know it— he’s just scared.”
“Yeah— you’re probably right,” Eddie says softly. “He did let me bring him to school today.”
“That’s great, Eds,” Buck says, he can hear him smiling. “Baby steps.”
“Yeah— anyway, how are you? How is it being there without me? Miss me yet?” Eddie teases.
“It’s so nice,” Buck teases. “No, honestly, I missed you the second you left. It sucks being here without you— both of you— this house doesn’t feel like home when you’re not here.”
God, I love you so much.
“You’re such a sap,” Eddie teases.
“Shut up,” Buck chuckles.
“That was really sweet, baby,” Eddie tells him. “I miss you too— a lot.”
“Oh yeah?” Buck flirts.
“Mhmm,” Eddie hums. “But we are not about to talk like this right now— I’m at a coffee shop.”
“Talk like what?” Buck asks, teasing him. “By telling you how I can’t wait to see you and get you under me so I can hear those perfect whimpers and moans as I suck your cock?”
“Buck—” Eddie warns, shifting in his seat.
“That doing it for you, princess?” he teases before moaning softly into the phone— the sound going right to Eddie’s dick. “I want you so bad, baby— fuck.”
“Buck—” he tries to warn again but it’s too late— Eddie’s jeans are starting to feel tight. “I can’t do this here.”
Buck groans, “Fine— just get home soon. I miss you.”
Eddie smiles, “I miss you too— coming home as quickly as I can, baby.”
“Good,” Buck says. “Talk later?”
“Yeah— have a good day, princess,” Eddie teases.
Buck chuckles. “I know you’re teasing but that was kinda hot,” he tells him.
Eddie smiles, shaking his head. “Goodbye, Buck,” he says finally.
“Bye, sweetheart,” Buck says before they both hang up.
*
At dinner, Eddie tells Chris and his parents that they’ll be flying out on Wednesday morning and everything is settled with his schools. His parents— mom mostly— try to convince him and Chris that this is too soon and they haven’t thought about it enough.
“I did think about this— I had a good talk with dad yesterday and— I want to go home,” Chris tells them. “You— you said I could stay as long as I wanted and now I want to go home with dad.”
“Okay, alright,” Ramon tells him. He looks over at Helena and says, “He wants to go home— that’s it.”
“But—” she tries to argue.
“This conversation is over,” Eddie says with finality. “Christopher is my son and he’s ready to come home. You can think whatever you want about me and how I raise my kid but that won’t change the fact that he is mine. You’re both great grandparents to him but you are not his parents— you do not have a say in this.”
Helena looks upset as she stands and leaves the table in the middle of dinner. Ramon follows after her leaving Eddie and Chris at the table.
“Sorry— I didn’t mean to ruin dinner,” he tells Chris.
“You didn’t,” Chris says.
Eddie smiles at him, watching him continue to eat. “Should we call titi Adri? She missed getting to see you when she came to stay with me,” he asks him.
“Okay,” Chris says around a mouthful of spaghetti.
“Maybe after we’re done eating,” Eddie chuckles.
They do call Adriana after on FaceTime and she quickly responds.
“There he is!” Adriana says when she sees Chris’s face in the frame.
“Hi,” he says, smiling.
“How’s my fave guy doing?” she asks him.
“Good, you?”
“I’m good— you giving your old man a hard time?”
“Adriana—” Eddie warns.
Chris chuckles. “No— we’re good,” he tells her. “I’m coming home.”
Adriana grins, “That’s great news,” she tells him. “And would I maybe have been right, Eddie?” she asks cockily.
Eddie groans, “Yes— you were right,” he admits.
Adriana starts doing an evil laugh which gets Chris to laugh. Eddie loves hearing him laugh.
Eddie asks her how her trip back was and how things are going. Sophia gets home quickly after and joins in on the call. Ramon returns alone and steals Eddie’s tablet from him so he can talk to his girls.
Eddie hands Chris the remote and says, “Pick a movie since our video call was just hijacked.”
“You talking about me?” Ramon asks, over the tablet.
Eddie and Chris both laugh as Ramon goes back to talking to the girls.
*
Buck doesn’t know what to do.
Eddie told him that he’ll be home on Wednesday without Chris because he isn’t ready to come back yet even though he tried hard to get him to come.
He wants Chris to come back because he misses him but mainly because he knows how badly Eddie needs his son back— and to get them away from Eddie’s awful parents.
Buck doesn’t know what to do that could help so what he does is pick up a nice bouquet of flowers on his way to the airport to pick up his boyfriend. Hopefully they will make him smile even though he’s sad.
The thought that Chris isn’t happy with him and Eddie dating is weighing heavily on him though. It makes him worry that Eddie won’t want to continue the relationship if he doesn’t have his son’s approval and— Buck can’t even be mad about that. He understands how important Christopher is to him and that he’ll always be his number one priority— he doesn’t want to change that in any way— he just— doesn’t want to lose Eddie now that he finally has him.
He parks in the lot of the airport and makes his way inside— the bouquet of flowers in his left hand as he looks for which way to go. He finds where he has to wait and checks his phone.
He’s early— Eddie just got off the plane.
So he waits.
After about twenty minutes, he gets a text. It’s from Eddie telling him he’ll be out in a minute or so.
Buck stands from where he went to sit on a bench to wait and walks closer so he can see his man walk out.
It’s not long before he sees Eddie coming out of the doors rolling two big luggage’s with a backpack on as well. He then sees Chris by his side, both of them grinning when they spot him.
Buck has chills all over his body and he breaks out into a huge grin and walks over to them.
“Look at his face— I think we got him,” Eddie tells Chris.
Buck laughs, “Yeah— you definitely got me.”
Chris reaches his hand out to give Buck a fist bump to which he meets and asks, “Did— did you think I wasn’t coming back?”
“I really didn’t think so— your dad sounded so sad when he told me,” he says and looks over at Eddie. “I can’t believe you lied to me!”
“I had to! For the prank— you know the drill,” Eddie shrugs.
“Fine, okay— I can’t believe I got replaced as your pranking partner,” Buck tells Chris.
“Just this once,” Chris says, making him laugh.
“Hey!” Eddie says, which makes Chris laugh.
He just realized he didn’t get to really greet Eddie yet but first he just needs to make sure— “So everything you said wasn’t true?” Buck asks him.
Eddie smiles at him fondly. “No— we spoke the moment I got there and told him everything and he’s good,” he tells him. “Right?” He taps Chris’s arm.
“Right,” Chris answers. “I— am here, aren’t I?”
Buck chuckles, watching them fondly. “So you’re okay with me and your dad—“
“Being boyfriends?” Chris asks. Buck blushes slightly and nods once. “Yeah— just don’t leave us, okay?”
Buck’s heart aches for him— for both of them. He understands why Chris is nervous about that— why Eddie might be too— and he’ll show them every day how much he loves them both and won’t ever leave them.
“I promise I won’t ever leave you— both of you,” he says looking at Chris then over to Eddie.
He nods at Eddie hoping he’s really hearing him on this. Eddie nods back, his brown eyes so soft and doe like. He steps closer to Eddie and says, “I got these for you by the way,” showing him the flowers. “Wanted to make you smile since I thought you were sad.”
Eddie smiles at him sweetly. “Thank you,” he says. “I love them.”
Buck blushes slightly, feeling shy all of a sudden. He’s so down bad for this man.
“Let’s go, shall we?” Eddie asks them— they were off to the side talking.
Buck springs into action and grabs one of the luggage— Eddie must have packed all of Christopher’s things in them since he left for El Paso with just a backpack, saying he didn’t need much.
Buck leads the way to the parking lot— now he knows why Eddie suggested he bring his truck and not Buck’s jeep— he thought that was random but didn’t think anything of it.
When they find the car, Buck unlocks the doors— he opens the back door for Chris and he gets inside, Eddie is putting the first luggage into the trunk so after putting the flowers on the backseat next to Chris, Buck brings the other to him.
Eddie looks at him and smiles— Buck melts inside. “Hi,” he says softly.
“Hi,” Buck says back as Eddie puts his hand on his face and pulls him into a kiss.
Buck kisses him softly, his hand reaching out for him, holding onto his side. Eddie pulls back slightly and says, “Needed that.”
Eddie kisses him once more then pulls away completely. Buck smirks at him, “Tease.”
Eddie winks at him as he puts the other luggage into the trunk. Buck walks around Eddie to get to the driver’s seat and as he passes him, he smacks his ass— Eddie turns to look at him, blushing and a shy smile on his face.
Buck drives them home— finally.

Having Christopher home feels like all of Eddie’s prayers have been answered.
In some ways they have but mainly— he knows it’s because he was finally honest with himself about who he is and was able to accept that before he was able to speak to his son and confess everything to him.
He couldn’t do the confession with the priest at first but then seeing him face to face— it was easier— he was able to talk about himself more openly and unload some of the things he had been feeling about himself.
Being able to start choosing joy and be his authentic self and finally admit to feelings he was holding in, it was what he needed to finally be able to go see his son and tell him everything. He’s fourteen— he’s still a child and will always be his baby— but he’s a teenager with complex emotions and he’s brilliant and kind and empathetic— he needed to trust himself and his son to be able to have this kind of conversation with him.
Without everything before that moment— he doesn’t think he would have ever been able to do what he just did. He’s proud of himself for getting to this moment— putting himself first sometimes by choosing what makes him happy without harming the two people he loves the most in this world.
Chris has been home for almost a month and it feels like nothing has changed with him being home. They easily fall right back into how things used to be but now they’re a lot more open and honest with each other. Especially now with Buck living with them— he needs to find a way to ask Buck to stay permanently. He wants Chris to feel comfortable and start to trust him again— to trust Buck also with him being around all the time.
It’s been great— being able to come home and be with his two favorite people every day. Eddie has never been this happy in his life.
Chris has a big field trip coming up with his entire grade before the holidays come. They’re taking them overnight on Friday and the parents and guardians need to pick up the students Saturday by noon at the school. It’s educational and he’ll be away for a night safe with his teachers, chaperones, and other students— Eddie is very much looking forward to this.
Eddie and Buck have not had any real privacy since they got back and he doesn’t want to do it for the first time with a man— with Buck — with his kid home so a night away is just what they need for this to happen.
They’ve been doing other stuff in bed most nights trying to be as quiet as possible— or whenever they can try and sneak around at work when it’s not busy and they have an overnight shift— but they haven’t been able to be really intimate yet or without fear of traumatizing their child.
Buck and Eddie are off on Friday and for the weekend so they bring Chris to school on Friday— they’re leaving right away for the trip so they’ll have the day for all the museums and other educational things they have planned.
Eddie takes Christopher’s overnight bag onto the bus for him as Buck talks to him, standing by the bus. He walks off the bus and sees them— watching them for a moment. Buck doesn’t have to crouch down as much now to be able to look in his eyes to talk to him— his baby growing so quickly.
Eddie walks over to them, putting his hand on Christopher’s shoulder. “You gonna be okay?” he asks him.
“Yes— you don’t have to worry,” Chris tells him.
“You’re right— I know,” Eddie says. “But I do— always will.”
Chris shakes his head, rolling his eyes. “It’ll be fun,” he tells him.
“Yes, it will be,” Buck says. “You’ll have a great time, you’ll learn a lot, and you’ll be back tomorrow.”
“Right— yes, exactly,” Eddie agrees, nodding. “Have fun and call me if you need anything— or even just to check in.”
“Okay— that’s enough,” Buck tells him.
Chris gives Eddie a hug and then Buck one and says, “Bye— I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Bye,” Eddie says softly watching Chris walk over to a small group of his friends before they make their way onto the bus. Eddie spots one of Chris’s teachers and waves— the teacher waves back.
They get everyone onto the bus and they watch it leave before heading back home.
Buck drives them home and he’s got his hand on Eddie’s thigh the whole way and Eddie’s hand on top of his. It feels so good being able to be touchy with him— they always have been but now it feels different because he can actually do something about those touches. Eddie looks at him often, watches him smile and looks over at him. When they get to a red light, he’ll lean over and kiss him which always makes Eddie smile into it.
They get back and go about their day as they would a normal day off— they get groceries, they do laundry, they go to the gym, shower, Buck cooks for them, and quickly it’s after dinner and they’re lounging on the couch in their sweatpants and tank tops— Eddie’s is gray and his pants black and Buck’s is black and his pants gray— unintentionally matching but opposite.
They’re lying on the couch— well, Buck is and Eddie is between his legs using his body as the couch. They’re watching a movie but Eddie isn’t really focused on it— all he can think about is how Buck feels underneath him. He has his head on Buck’s perfect chest— so soft and so strong and muscly all at once— and his arms around him as he rubs his hands up and down his back.
Eddie looks up at him— catching him staring at him— and smiles softly. He leans up and kisses him softly on the lips, Buck kissing him back. Eddie kisses him harder, his tongue slipping into his mouth and Eddie moans into the kiss. Buck grabs his arms and pulls him— Eddie easily climbs up his body and straddles him.
Buck grabs onto his ass, squeezing it between his hands— massaging it as Eddie’s hands are in his hair, pulling at his curls, trying to kiss him harder, deeper — needing more. He trails his lips down Buck’s jaw and moans into his ear, “Need you so bad, baby— want you inside me.”
Buck moans, thrusting his hips up into him, grinding against him. “Fuuu—” his lips back on him, kissing him— tasting him. “Gonna fuck you so good, baby.”
Eddie grinds down against Buck, his hands pulling at his hair before kissing him again. He pulls back, panting, before getting up— he reaches his hand out for Buck who takes it instantly. They make their way to the bedroom and once inside— they’re all over each other. Their hands pull each other’s clothes off. Their lips on any part of each other they can get while they tear each other’s clothes off.
They’re in the dim lighting of their bedroom— just the lamp on his bedside table casting light into the room— as they get onto the bed and Buck immediately gets on top of him, kissing him softly.
Eddie wraps his legs around Buck’s waist and his arms around his neck as he pulls him into him closer, deeper— wanting to feel every part of him. Buck thrusts his hips into him, their hard cocks sliding against each other.
Eddie moans, pressing his head back into the pillow. Buck kisses down his neck, his chest, down his stomach and to his hips. He sucks a small mark into his hip before looking up at him through his lashes. He leans back over his body and kisses him softly on the lips before he reaches into the bedside drawer for some lube.
They both got tested before Eddie left for El Paso and they’re both clean so they decided to forgo condoms since they’re in a committed relationship with just each other.
Eddie plants his feet onto the mattress as Buck opens the lube and pours some onto his fingers. Since they started hooking up— Eddie has been fingered by Buck twice before this and it was unlike anything he’s ever felt before.
Buck presses his finger against his hole and Eddie takes it, moaning softly. Buck soon adds a second one when he can sense Eddie’s ready for it. Eddie moans louder, remembering he can be as loud as he wants tonight.
“You sound absolutely sinful already,” Buck teases, licking up his neck and then kissing him hard on the lips. Eddie moans into the kiss as Buck’s fingers brush over his prostate. Buck pulls back slightly to say, “ God , I can’t wait to see how you sound when you have all of me inside you.”
“Yes, please — need you inside me, baby,” Eddie moans, his nail scratching down Buck’s back as he continues to rub his fingers against that spot inside of him. “ Now,” he adds when Buck doesn’t stop.
“You’re such a cock slut for me— you’re so hot, fuck,” Buck says, kissing him again before pulling his fingers out of him.
Eddie whines at the loss of contact before Buck is putting more lube on his cock and pressing the head against his hole.
“Fuuu—” Eddie moans, feeling Buck slowly start to fill him up with his huge cock.
“Oh my God, you’re so tight, baby— so perfect, you feel so good,” Buck moans, kissing him sloppily, his tongue deep in his mouth.
Eddie grips onto Buck, holding him close as he feels him bottom out. He adjusts himself to the feeling before Buck starts to move slowly— thrusting in and out of him. “You okay, baby?” Buck asks him softly, looking into his eyes.
“Yeah— good, so good,” Eddie tells him, pulling him into a kiss. “You feel so good, baby— so big, so deep , need you to go harder for me, princess.”
“Fuck,” Buck moans at the petname, snapping his hips into him harder, making Eddie moan loudly. “Yes, fuck, Eddie— need to hear you. Wanna hear how good I make you feel, baby.”
“So good, baby— you make me feel— fuck—” Eddie moans, his back arching, legs wrapped tightly around Buck’s waist. “Make me feel better than I’ve ever felt before mi amor.”
“Jesus—” Buck moans, kissing him deeply, fucking him harder, faster, deeper.
Eddie didn’t mean for that to slip out but the reaction Buck just had to that makes it worth it. Buck slams into his prostate and Eddie moans loudly again— giving Buck exactly what he wants— “Right there, baby, Oh God— don’t stop,” he begs.
Buck attaches his lips to Eddie’s neck, fucking him harder in the same spot. “I’m so close, baby— wanna see you cum for me,” he says into his ear, nipping at his earlobe.
Buck brings his hand between them and strokes Eddie’s cock and keeps up the pace and Eddie is quickly coming hard between them and feeling Buck following right behind him, coming hard inside of him.
Buck lets him go slowly and gently before doing the same to himself— pulling out slowly and gently. He plops down on the mattress beside Eddie— both of them panting, trying to regain their breaths after the intense orgasm.
Eddie turns his head to look at Buck and smiles seeing his dopey grin and messy hair. “I love you so much, baby,” he finds himself saying. There is no perfect time to say it and why not say it now when he feels it so intensely. “I’ve never loved someone this much.”
Buck smiles at him fondly, moving closer to kiss him softly on the lips. “I love you so much, Eddie— you mean everything to me,” he says softly.
Eddie pulls Buck back into him, kissing him harder and holding him close. They stay like that for a few moments before they feel gross and sticky. They take a quick shower to wash themselves off before getting back into bed and back into each other’s arms.
Eddie cuddles up close to Buck, feeling the warmth and safety and love as he wraps his big arms around him, holding him close.
“Now this feels like home,” Buck whispers, kissing the top of his head.
That it does.
