Work Text:

“Are you ready to go?”

“Nearly,” Lucy shouts.

Tim is waiting for her to finish getting ready before they leave. He eventually hears the clacking of her heels on their marble floor.

“Sorry babe, I messed up my makeup.”

He looks up to where Lucy is walking towards her. She looks absolutely stunning. Her hair is down and sitting over her shoulders in loose curls. She has a dark navy-blue pleated dress that goes down to her ankles. It has long sleeves, a crossed V-neck, and a thick belt around her waist that accents her beautiful figure. Her heals give her an extra three inches in height, yet she is still shorter than him.

“You look…” he lets his gaze trail over her as he tries to find the right words, “…So beautiful.”

She smiles at him. “You don’t look so bad yourself.” He is wearing a black suit and a black tie. It’s not anything special, but Lucy does not seem to mind. When her gaze reaches his face, her eyes fill with fear. “What happened to your face?”

He huffs out a laugh. “Some German was roleplaying with Nolan’s half-brother’s girlfriend or something and lost Bailey’s ring.”

“What? How does that relate to your beautiful face getting scratched up?” She lightly touches the small scratch above his left brow.

“Well, they asked me to get it back, and it turns out it ended up in the hands of this known criminal who calls himself ‘The Hammer’.”

“Again, what?”

“He is a felon who has a knack for fighting cops. He said I could have the ring back if I beat him in a fight.”

“How could anyone want to harm this cute face?” Lucy chuckles as she cups his cheeks.

He shakes his head with an amused expression. “Are you ready?”

She nods as she wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him.

They get into Tim’s truck, and he drives them to the beautiful venue that Thorsen had managed to secure for Bailey and Nolan.

They walk in, arm in arm and go over to where Angela, Wesley, Nyla, and James are talking. They chat with them until the wedding starts where they sit side by side in the front row.

Tim rests his hand on Lucy’s thigh as they watch Bailey and Nolan say their vows with so much adoration on their faces.

Later at the reception, they mingle around and chat with other officers and friends of the married couple.

“Luce, do you want something to drink?”

She nods. “That sounds amazing.”

He gives her a quick kiss on the cheek. “I’ll be right back.”

He goes over to the drinks bar and orders two drinks. He turns back to where Lucy is waiting and sees that someone is approaching her. Her back his facing him and he cannot see who it is that is now talking to her.

He turns back to the bar to grab their drinks when he hears someone calling out his name.

“Bradford?”

Tim turns around and sees one of his old friends talking to his girlfriend.

He walks back over to where Lucy is holding a polite conversation with none other than Emmett Lang, a firefighter.

“Lang, what’s up?” he greets as he reaches Lucy’s side.

“I was just talking to Lucy here.” He nods over where she is standing. “Lucy this is Bradford. We used to play pick-up basketball together.”

“Oh, I already know Tim,” Lucy replies as she takes her drink from Tim’s hand.

“Are you friends with the cops?” Emmett asks with confusion on his face.

Lucy nods. “They get coffee from where I work.”

“How do you know Lang?” Tim asks Lucy as he takes a sip from his drink.

“Umm…” She turns to face Tim. “We used to date a few years back.”

“Have you dated anyone else I know?” Tim jokes.

“I didn’t know you knew Chris or Emmett,” she replies with a smile.

“Oh, are you two dating?” Emmett asks, looking between the two and they both nod. “Really?

Tim wraps an arm around her waist and pulls her slightly closer to him. “There a problem with that, Lang?”

He shakes his head. “No, I just never would have expected it.”

Lucy’s brows furrow. “Why?”

“Are you sure you know Bradford that well?” he asks with an incredulous expression.

“Of course I do,” she frowns.

“I’m not trying to say anything, but I just don’t think that Bradford is the kind of guy you look for.”

“Lang, stop trying to get in the middle of our relationship,” Tim grumbles as his grip tightens around Lucy’s waist.

“Emmett, I’m happy with Tim. When you broke up with me you told me that you wanted me to be happy,” Lucy says softly, moving further into his side.

“Lucy, I’ve known Bradford for a long time, and he isn’t going to be the one that makes you happy.”

“Butt out, Lang.”

“I’m just looking out for Lucy,” Emmett shrugs.

“Emmett, we literally live together,” she sighs. “Tim respects me and we are both happier than we have ever been. Nothing you say is going to change that.”

Emmett sighs. “Okay then… I guess I’ll see you around.”

Lucy nods and as soon as Emmett leaves, she turns to face Tim. “You okay?”

“I’m fine, baby.” He offers his hand out to her. “Do you want to dance?”

Lucy takes his drink from his other hand and puts them down on a table before she takes his hand. “Always.”

Tim leads her to the dance floor and wraps his arms around her waist as she places one hand on his chest and the other at the nape of his neck.

“I’m extremely sorry about that,” she sighs as they slowly sway to the music.

He places a kiss on her forehead. “It’s not your fault, Luce.”

“I got in a car crash a few years back, and Emmett was the one to arrive at the scene,” she explains. “We dated casually for a couple of months before he broke up with me over text. This is the first time I have seen him since.”

“That’s a dick move,” he scoffs, “And he thinks he has the right to judge our relationship.”

“I’ve never been happier than when I’m with you.”

“I’ve never been happier than when I’m with you,” Tim echoes as he leans down and presses his lips to hers.

This kiss is slow, yet passionate, and entirely not very appropriate for their setting.

Lucy is the one to pull away first, but she does not go far. A smirk is planted on her lips and a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Do you reckon there is a bathroom here?”

Tim shakes his head and chuckles with amusement. “This is a wedding venue. It would be pretty shitty if there wasn’t a bathroom.”

“Shall we go find it?” she asks while pumping her eyebrows suggestively.

“Why not?”

“Do I look okay?” Lucy asks as she smooths her hair down and fixes her makeup.

“You look beautiful, Luce,” he chuckles as readjusts his tie and buttons his blazer back up.

He presses one last lingering kiss to her lips before he goes to open the door.

“Wait.” Lucy grabs his arm and pulls him back. She grabs a wipe out of her purse before she wipes at his lips, cheeks, and neck. “As much as I would love to let everyone know that you’re taken, that would be entirely inappropriate.”

Once Lucy deems that they are good enough to be seen in public, they walk out hand-in-hand. As they walk up the stairs, they can hear Grey.

“This is Grey. I have an officer in distress. I need a dedicated airship and a citywide alert pending locations.”

Tim’s arm immediately finds its way around Lucy's waist. “What’s going on?”

“Celina went to meet a CI and she’s in trouble,” Nyla frantically explains.

“We have to get changed,” Angela states.

James and Wesley offer to get their go-bags from their cars and quickly leave.

“Luce, are going to be alright?” Tim asks as he turns to face her and places his hands on her hips.

She nods. “Yeah, just find Celina.”

“Go home and I will meet you there, okay?”

“Just make sure you come home safe.” She leans up and gives him a quick kiss.

“Hey, I heard something happened to Celina,” Aaron slurs as he stumbles into the room. “Is she okay?”

“We don’t know,” Angela answers. “We’re going downtown to find her.”

“Okay, I’m coming.”

“No, you’re drunk,” Tim clearly states. “Sit your ass down and do some praying.”

“I’ll take him home,” Lucy says as she walks over to him and holds him upright.

“I’ll be home, Luce.” Tim places a kiss on her cheek before they leave. “Take my truck and get home.”

“I love you,” she calls out as he walks away.

He turns around. “I love you too.”

Once he is out of sight, Lucy turns to Bailey. “Are you okay?”

Bailey takes a deep breath and sighs, her shoulders dropping. “Yeah…”

“Do you want me to take you home?” Lucy asks, placing a hand on her arm in comfort.

“No, no, you have to take care of Aaron.”

“How will you get home then?”

“I’ll just wait here,” she shrugs.

Lucy immediately shakes her head. “We don’t know how long they will take. I can’t just leave you here.”

“I’ll be fine.”

“No. I’ll drop Aaron home and make sure he’s okay, then we can wait for the others at your house.”

Bailey looks reluctant to agree, but she eventually does.

Lucy drives to Aaron’s place first and makes sure he is going to be alright before going to Bailey and John’s house.

She sends a quick message to Tim telling him where she is, and she helps Bailey inside.

The first thing Bailey does is collapse on her bed.

“Do you want help getting out of your dress?” Lucy offers as she sits next to her.

Bailey shakes her head and closes her eyes.

“Are you sure? Those trackies over there look comfortable.” Lucy nods over to where a pair of, presumably John’s, trackies are sitting.

Bailey lifts her head to look, and she nods.

Lucy helps her undo the lace at the back of her dress then leaves her for some privacy to change.

She sits at the dining room table and takes her phone out. She has notifications but she opens her messages with Tim anyway. She scrolls up to reload it like a new message will appear, but it never does.

She knows that Tim does things like this every other day, but knowing in the moment it is actually happening makes the whole entirely more nerve-wracking for her.

She goes back into Bailey’s room when she calls out that she is changed, and she is in exactly the same spot collapsed on the bed.

Lucy notices the empty suitcases set out. She knows that the newlywed couple were leaving for their honeymoon in the morning because Tim was taking over Celina’s training while he was gone. “Do you need help packing for your honeymoon?”

Bailey yawns and looks up. “No, I should do it myself.” She drops her head back and makes no move to get up.

“Just tell me what you want to pack. It will just be something less that you need to worry about.”

Once again, Bailey is reluctant to agree, but when she does, Lucy neatly packs the suitcase with everything Bailey can think of.

Eventually, Bailey falls asleep, still in the same spot on the bed.

Lucy walks out of the room and quietly closes the door behind her. She settles herself on their couch with her phone clutched tightly in her hand so she can be alert whenever she gets a message from Tim.

She constantly has to blink her eyes open, so she does not fall asleep, but after a few hours, she lets her eyes close.

“Luce.” It’s a whisper but it’s enough to rouse her from her sleep.

She groans as she opens her eyes. She curses herself for falling asleep when she was supposed to stay awake.

“Morning sleepyhead,” an achingly familiar voice chuckles.

“Tim?” She forces her eyes to focus on the figure in front of her and she smiles when she sees his uninjured body.

“You wanna go home?” He reaches his hand out to help her stand up.

She nods and she melts into his side, and they start to walk to the door, but John stops them.

“Thank you, Lucy,” he says, stifling a yawn. “I really appreciate someone looking out for Bailey.”

Lucy smiles at John. “Happy to help.”

John nods before he goes to join Bailey.

Lucy feels Tim’s arm wind around her waist and rests on her hip as they exit the house.

“Is Celina alright?”

Tim nods and helps Lucy into his truck. “We found her, and everyone got out with minimal injuries.”

She lets out a sigh of relief as she buckles her seatbelt. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah… I just wish that we could have danced together more.”

Lucy chuckles. “We can always just dance together whenever we want.”

“Mm, I guess.”

“It’ll be good practice for our wedding.”

“Let me propose first, baby,” Tim says feigning shock.

By the time they arrive home, the sun is fully out, and the streets are slightly busier.

“Carry me,” Lucy demands with a pout on her face.

Tim shakes his head with an amused smile across his features as carries her out of the car.

“Is this what will happen after we get married.” She has her arms wrapped around Tim’s neck and she buries her face into the crook of his neck to stifle a yawn.

“What’s with all the talk of us getting married, Luce?” he asks as he brings Lucy inside and closes the door behind him. He walks into their room and lightly places her on the bed and takes her heels off for her.

She just shrugs as she snuggles into the quilt. “You want to marry again, right?”

Tim takes his shoes and belt off before joining Lucy on their bed. He wraps his arms around her smaller frame, and she immediately curls into his embrace. “Only if it’s with you.”

She hums in agreement, but it is muffled by his chest. “Definitely.”
