Jason is dangerous and insane, Tim reminds himself. Jason is a walking mass casualty event. Jason is just-–a fucking nuisance. It doesn’t matter how entrepreneurial he pretends to be, or how good he looks in a three-piece suit. Tim’s the only one who cares about what Jason’s doing in the Iceberg Lounge, the only one who knows what he’s capable of. Tim’s the only one who can stop him, which means it’s absolutely imperative that he does not get distracted.

Maybe this is their problem, summed up nice and neat: Tim has divided himself up into so many pieces that he can’t remember where he put the reality. Jason is so overwhelmingly real that he can’t bear to divide himself to begin with. Presumably, there’s a middle ground. Practically, they’re just going to eat themselves alive.
