Work Text:
Nick and Charlie could not wait to spend the holiday season together. Sure, they spent holidays together in the past, but this season, this season was special. Why? Because Nick and Charlie had a baby girl with them. Their Daisy. Daisy came into their lives not long after Nick was in his last term at Leeds University. Nick thought it was a good idea to get Charlie a dog to help him with his mental health and to finish uni. Plus, Nick really wanted a dog of their own, or as Nick described, “Char, I want us to have a doggy daughter.”
When they brought home Daisy, Tori thought it was a baby and she almost freaked out. Nick and Charlie were not ready for an actual human baby. But for now, they have their Daisy. Daisy brought smiles and laughter to Nick and Charlie among their family and friends. Daisy knew when Charlie was having a bad day, along with an overload of uni work. She would snuggle up against him and give him all the kisses she could.
When Nick tried giving Charlie a haircut, since Charlie only likes it when certain people touch his hair, and Nick got distracted to get his lover distracted, he buzzed Daisy’s head. Whoops.
But now that Charlie is on uni break until the next semester, Nick and Charlie can spend their holidays with friends and family. But mostly, their Daisy.
This was Daisy’s first Christmas and Charlie knew Nick was going to go all out. He bought her
“This is my first Christmas,” puppy sweater and he bought him and Charlie dog Dad sweaters. Charlie stared at the sweaters and immediately fell in love.
Mission accomplished, Nick thought.
Daisy was playing with her toy, snuggled up against the two men as Nick was on the laptop. He was looking at things to do for the festive season. Charlie sipped his peppermint bark tea as he heard his boyfriend’s gasp of delight.
“What did you see?” Charlie asked, as he took another sip of his tea, eyeing Nick’s laptop.
“A Christmas Village! Oh, Char! We can take Daisy! Have her all extra adorable with her first Christmas sweater! We can get our picture taken with Santa! Our first Christmas holiday family photo!” Nick exclaimed in a voice that reminded Charlie of when they were younger, except it was deeper.
“A Christmas Village? Sounds fun! When is it?”
“This Friday.”

When Friday arrived, Daisy knew something was going on when she saw her human dads getting ready and packing a bag. She started whining and going around, jumping on them, trying to get their attention. But she started whining more with excitement when she saw her bag packed with food, treats, and water.
Charlie went to put Daisy’s new Christmas sweater on and her leash, while Nick grabbed the bags and what they needed for the Christmas village— since it was approximately an hour or so away, depending on traffic.
They got in the car, Daisy on Charlie’s lap, a Christmas playlist flowing through the car speakers. Nick and Charlie sang along as Nick drove off.
Daisy stuck her head out of the window, her tongue flying as she smiled with the wind.
Their Daisy was happy.
“I can’t wait! We are totally getting a hot chocolate!” Nick said, as he turned the music down a notch. Charlie smiled, his dimples showing as he agreed. Charlie has gotten better around the holidays. Since he started living with Nick, he started loving Christmas.
Charlie looked out the window, holding Daisy tightly, along with her leash.
“I think you’ll like where we are going, princess.”
Daisy wagged her tail as she licked Charlie’s cheek. Oh, how Nick wishes he was able to record or take a picture of that— but eyes on the road, Nick.

Daisy got excited when she saw where they were going, when Nick pulled into the car park.
“We’re here, Daisy! Your first Christmas village!”
Daisy’s tail was going 100 miles per hour as she barked with delight. Nick got out of the car to be a gentleman, going around to open Charlie’s door. Daisy jumped out of the car to the ground, sniffing the new ground.
“Thank you, sap.”
Nick grinned with pride, “Your sap forever.”
Daisy barked, tugging her leash, wanting to explore. The couple laughed as they got their stuff and locked the car, heading towards the Christmas village. Daisy waddled along as she sniffed what she saw was interesting– such as a pile of dirt mixed with snow.
“No, Daisy– gross!” Nick said as Charlie lightly tugged her leash back. What can they say? Daisy was a curious golden retriever puppy who did not look like a puppy! As they walked through the village, they got many compliments with awe of how precious Daisy was. Daisy was happy as she went to go sniff people who came to her. Even strangers love Daisy! Nick and Charlie’s Daisy was loved.
Charlie sat down as Nick went to get their hot chocolates, and a pup cup!
“Daddy’s getting you a pup cup, Daisy! Yum!” Charlie said as his lover returned with their hot chocolates and Daisy’s pup cup.
“Here you go, Dais! One pup cup for our dear daughter!” Nick said as he kneeled down, giving access to the pup cup, Daisy devouring the whipped cream, tail wagging. Charlie took a picture and a video, adding it to their shared album Nick and Charlie created on their iPhones when they got Daisy. She was their baby.
They continued walking through the village, visiting mini stores that allowed dogs, and lastly, Santa. Nick’s excitement was that of a little kid. Charlie giggled as he held Daisy, who was sniffing the cold air. When their turn came up, Santa held Daisy as Nick and Charlie were on either side of the jolly man, dressed in red and white, with a matching hat and long white beard. Daisy wiggled in the man's arms.
“Ho, Ho, Ho, what a joyful excited pupper!”
Nick and Charlie smiled as the photographer got the camera ready and steady.
“Three, Two, One– Say Merry Christmas!”
“Merry Christmas!” the couple said along with Santa’s deep voice, and Daisy’s bark.
Once the picture was printed out, the photographer handed the picture in a Christmas decorated frame to the couple. The couple fell in love as they looked down at Daisy, who was looking up at her human parents, smiling with her tongue out and tail wagging.
They loved their Daisy
Daisy was theirs.
Their Daisy.
‘Tis the Season Daisy.
