Work Text:
A December wedding was cliché, Alex had complained to Jack. But Jack told him that December was his favorite month.
“It’s the month you were born!”
And Alex was so overcome with joy that he could not speak; how could he say no to Jack? He never could.
The wedding was in Baltimore, naturally. Indoors, because it was below freezing outside and their parents couldn’t take the cold. Their color scheme was a romantic mix of red and black and green, but Jack was adamant it was not Christmas-themed.
Alex had never considered himself to be the marrying kind, but falling in love with his best friend had changed that quickly. Now, he couldn’t imagine a world where he wasn’t walking down the aisle toward Jack. Jack, in an all black tuxedo, grinning from ear to ear, tears in his eyes, as bells rang around them.
Both of Alex’s parents were crying as they ushered him down the aisle, but they were happy tears. Jack had been like a son to them for many years. Now, it was becoming official and they knew no one would take care of Alex like he would.
Jack’s mom and dad sat in the front row, along with May, all three crying and smiling.
As Alex’s parents handed him over to Jack, Alex took a deep breath, Jack’s familiar cologne settling his nerves. Their eyes locked and Alex’s face broke into a huge grin.
“Hey there, handsome.”
This was the beginning of their forever.
