Summary
With Sherry and Jake expecting their first child together anxieties rise on Jake's part when he questions if He'll be a good father.
"I didn't ask if anything was going on." Sherry points out, "I asked what this is all about. Jake, come on, talk to me."
Jake doesn't say anything at first; he simply walks over to the armchair and sits down. Jake can't bring himself to look at Sherry knowing that she'll see right through him—that it takes just one damn look from her for his secrets to come pouring out.
Sherry, in turn, places her mug on the bookshelf before pulling the footrest closer to sit in front of Jake.
"We agreed to tell each other when we're feeling overwhelmed and scared." She reminds us as Sherry takes her husband's hands. "Please. Talk to me."
"What if—" Jake takes in a breath, "—what if I fuck up?" He still can't bring himself to look at Sherry as he continues. "I don't know what the hell a father is supposed to do. It's not like I ever had one to begin with, and my mom—she did her best, but when she got sick, I had to raise myself."
