Work Text:
The first thing Colin thinks when he wakes up goes along the lines of “damn, it’s hot”.
But once he realizes why he’s feeling so hot this morning, it suddenly doesn’t seem all too bad.
It’s not an uncommon occurrence, either.
For someone so fragile one wrong movement could hurt them, Ryan sure is a tactile sleeper.
No matter what position they fall asleep in, Ryan’s long limbs always end up wrapped around Colin at all possible angles. Even the seemingly impossible ones.
Colin doesn’t try to untangle himself, because he doesn’t want to cause that one specific movement that would hurt his partner, but he also doesn’t really want to get out of his embrace, no matter how impractical it might be.
So he doesn’t.
Instead, he nuzzles into Ryan’s body, enjoying the way it feels to be so close to his partner and not have to think about anything.
He can pinpoint the moment Ryan wakes up by the change in his breathing. He waits for him to make the smallest movement – which consists of Ryan nuzzling deeper into Colin’s body – and only then speaks up.
“You’re like my own personal furnace, Ryan.”
“Mgh.”
Colin chuckles at the muffled sound his partner makes, melting into him further which makes the taller man tighten his grip.
Ryan then says something again, but Colin can’t identify a single word in that sentence. He tries to pull away to his best ability.
“What was that?”
Ryan does some shuffling of his own before replying. His voice is still hoarse from sleep, so it sends a pleasant sensation down Colin’s spine when he hears it.
“I could make you warm in another way, too.”
Colin takes a deep breath in.
That sure is inviting.
But he’s got other plans for the day.
When he voices that to his partner, he’s met with disapproving grumbles.
“I know,” Colin sympathizes. “But those errands need to get run. C’mon.”
So they go.
Ryan is still grumbling when they arrive at the mall, but nothing compares to the look on his face when Colin drags him to the ice rink.
“What in the hell.”
“That’s one way to react to a date idea.”
“I thought we were supposed to run errands.”
Colin shrugs. “We’ve got time.”
Colin watches his partner look around the rooftop ice rink a bit helplessly, but then he looks back at Colin, and something about his expression changes.
“If I get hurt, you’re carrying me to the hospital.”
“Don’t threaten me with a good time,” Colin says, and it makes Ryan crack a smile. “C’mon, let’s get our skates.”
Yeah.
That proves to be the problem.
Colin finds his size just fine but Ryan’s 15-sized feet weren’t something Colin took into consideration. He goes to sit on the bench with defeat. He soon feels Ryan’s hand on his shoulder.
“Don’t feel bad. It’s not your fault I’ve got giant feet.”
“It happens to the best of us.”
Both of them look up to find the source of the voice which happens to be a smiling man, waving his huge skates in front of his head.
“Wow, um, those are some big skates you’ve got there,” Colin eventually comments.
“Size fifteen,” the man says, smiling even wider for some reason.
Colin and Ryan immediately exchange a look.
“Are you just leaving the rink?” Colin asks the man.
“I am, yeah, gotta run those Christmas errands, if you know what I mean.”
“This might be a weird question but would you mind if we borrowed the skates while you run your errands? If you’ll be staying at the mall, that is. You see, we haven’t really thought this through,” he points at Ryan sitting next to him.
The man looks down at Ryan’s feet and then back at the skates he’s holding.
“Oh yeah, I’ll be at the mall! Sure! You might wanna get my number, so that you can call me when you’re done.”
Colin catches Ryan’s slight frown at that suggestion but he perseveres, typing down the man’s number with a polite smile.
His finger hesitates when it comes down the “name” column.
“Charlie,” the man says. “And you are…”
“Colin,” Colin replies quickly, saving the contact and putting his phone away. “And this is my partner, Ryan.”
The man’s smile falters for a second, and Colin has to hold in a chuckle at the way Ryan’s lips immediately form a small smirk.
Colin focuses on the man, Charlie, instead, taking the skates from him.
“Thank you so much for this. You’ve saved the date.”
“My pleasure,” the man says with a smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes. “Have fun,” he then adds, turning at Ryan to give him a quick nod, and then he’s gone.
“Unbelievable.” Ryan says as soon as he’s out of sight. “Giving your number to strange men.”
“Yes,” Colin says, placing the skates in front of his partner. “To get you skates.”
“Which was your idea in the first place.”
“Touché.”
He suddenly feels Ryan’s breath in his face as the younger man places a soft kiss on his cheek before starting to inspect the skates.
“Let’s get this date started.”
~
See, Ryan had a reason to be wary when Colin dragged him into the ice rink.
It had nothing to do with Colin, hell, he’d follow that man anywhere, and gladly, but an ice rink?
That might be pushing it a bit too far.
“It” meaning Ryan’s capabilities or rather lack thereof.
It becomes clear the moment Ryan tries to step on the ice with the borrowed skates on and almost falls on his face right there, because it’s so slippery.
There is a good reason they’ve never been skating in the long years they’ve been together for.
Ryan braces himself and tries to move along so that he doesn’t block the entrance and-
He feels a pair of hands gently maneuvering him to a safe spot by the boards. Once he catches his breath, he looks up and-
Okay.
That was probably to be expected.
Colin looks extremely comfortable on those skates, moving with ease and smiling widely doing so. Ryan, on the other hand, feels like a fish out of water.
Colin, however, doesn’t seem to mind one bit.
“If you need a moment, I can do a few laps and then come back for you.”
Ryan gives him a relieved nod, not managing much else because he’s fighting for his life here.
He tries and move along the boards but he’s going rather slow because-
Colin.
The man is skating around the rink like it’s all he ever did.
Looking so free, so effortless, so… Ethereal.
Ryan can’t help but smile.
And he’s still smiling when Colin comes back for him.
“You seem to have found your footing.”
Ryan wants to say something flirty in response because he’s weak for his partner, but he doesn’t get the chance.
He looks down at the hand Colin’s offering him.
“Wanna try and skate with me?”
And while the rational part of his brain hesitates because this could easily end in a disaster, his body reacts on instinct. If Colin offers you a hand, you take it, no matter where it might lead you.
Turns out, the result isn’t that bad.
They actually manage – though slowly and wonkily – to circle the rink a few times hand in hand, Ryan holding onto the boards with his other hand, just in case.
Once they decide to call it quits, Ryan melts into the bench just outside the rink.
“I have an idea,” he says, loosening the skates and shaking out his achy feet. “How about I just sit here while you run the errands?”
“What errands?”
“You said we had to-” It clicks the moment they make eye contact.
“Son of a bitch.”
Colin’s face lights up which is quite the sight with his red cheeks and glistening skin.
Ryan’s so in love.
“Hey, can’t say it didn’t work,” Colin says, bumping Ryan’s shoulder.
And he’s right, Ryan knows.
“C’mon. Let’s grab some take out before we head home.”
They end up running into Charlie in the food court, Colin not holding in his chuckle this time when Ryan does his absolute best to brush Charlie off as soon as he’s handed those skates.
Good.
Nobody’s going to flirt with Ryan’s partner.
…
A while later, when the take out’s been eaten and they’ve showered the ice skating sweat off, they start to get settled in bed.
Colin gets in first and assumes the position he usually has while reading – his back resting against the backrest and the blanket reaching up to his lap.
Ryan settles next to his partner, trying to slide as close as possible somewhat smoothly, hoping the older man will get the hint.
Colin, however, seems to be fully focused on the book he took from his nightstand.
“C’mon,” Ryan eventually says, and he immediately notices the ends of Colin’s mouth twitching upwards. “Don’t make me ask for it.”
Naturally, Colin doesn’t even look up from his book when answering. “Ask for what?”
Ryan sighs, defeated. “Cuddles?”
Colin smiles for real this time, taking his time with putting his book away and only then looking back at Ryan.
“Or you could make me warm in another way.”
Ryan glances from Colin’s face down to his lap where one hand is holding the blanket up suggestively.
Ryan grins before diving in, showering his partner’s face with kisses. He hears Colin’s giggles amongst his attack, and his heart swells.
He really is the luckiest guy in the world, isn’t he?
XXXXX
The kisses eventually slow down and become a little more sensual as their bodies intertwine.
Colin threw his leg over Ryan’s at some point, so Ryan can clearly feel his partner’s hard-on once it forms.
“Just let me get the…” he mumbles against Colin’s lips, not really finishing his train of thought because his thoughts are slowly melting into one. He tries to use the advantage of his long limbs to reach to the drawer by his side of the bed but he’s stopped by Colin’s hand on his forearm.
He turns back in question which soon turns into concern when noticing his partner’s expression.
“Everything alright?” he asks, immediately reaching down to rub some reassuring circles into Colin's hip.
“Yeah, yeah, I just… I was thinking…”
Ryan nods, and he swears Colin stops breathing for a second, but then he’s letting out a sigh.
And then Ryan feels himself being maneuvered so that he’s lying down and Colin’s hovering above him.
His face is flushed when he eventually straddles Ryan.
You see, even though they’ve been together for so long, Colin still sometimes finds it difficult to initiate like this, so Ryan’s making sure he’s giving him the time he needs. He digs his thumb further into Colin’s hip.
“What were you thinking?” he mumbles, moving his hips a little which creates a rather pleasurable sensation. Colin closes his eyes for a second, and when he opens them again, he’s not looking at Ryan’s face. Rather, he’s looking at Ryan’s legs, poking one of them until it bends and his knee is facing up.
Then he positions himself over the said knee and-
Oh.
“Hell yeah,” Ryan murmurs, pulling his lover closer. A small noise leaves Colin’s mouth once his crotch makes contact with Ryan’s knee but he’s not actually moving in any way, just responding to the kisses.
Ryan lets that go for a bit but ultimately decides to spur his partner on a little bit.
He digs his palms into Colin’s sides and pushes him down a little bit so that the next time Colin goes for a kiss, it’s accompanied by a slide against Ryan’s leg.
Colin moans and immediately tucks his head in, but Ryan’s quick to untuck it and give his partner the most lustful look he can manage, knowing it can be hard for Colin to do something for just his own pleasure.
“C’mon,” he mutters, low and slow. “Take what you need.”
The noise that comes out of Colin’s mouth is more of a whine, which could really go either way, but Colin checks the position of Ryan’s knee before he dives in for another kiss, which Ryan takes as a good sign.
And truly, after a few more kisses, Ryan feels Colin grind against his knee. He’s cautious at first, but ultimately gains more confidence and starts finding a rhythm.
Ryan does as best as he can to encourage him, gently pushing his hands down with every other grind. It doesn’t take long before Colin’s making constant noises, and his head ultimately ends up falling into the crook of Ryan’s neck. Ryan takes advantage of that and starts mouthing at Colin’s neck. He can feel the grinds intensifying, so he decides to help push his partner over the edge.
With the next grind, he mouths at the lobe of Colin’s ear, gently biting down, which elicits the biggest moan yet.
From there, it only takes a few whispers of encouragement and Colin’s coming inside his pajama pants, which admittedly isn’t the sexiest way to come, but there’s also something strangely hot about it.
It definitely feels that way to Ryan, who does his best not to thrust up as Colin comes down from his high in his arms. When he raises himself up, his face is still flushed, but his smile is so content. Ryan runs his hands in gentle circles over Colin’s sides. Colin leans down for a few pecks and then slides down. And then even further down.
Ryan’s legs fall apart on their own when he realizes what Colin’s plan is. He lifts his hips up so that Colin can shimmy down Ryan’s pants just enough so that his dick slips out. He positions himself over it and Ryan can feel his partner’s breath over his most sensitive part.
And then he feels… A gentle kiss. On the top of his dick.
“Tease,” he gets out and looks down only to see Colin’s smirk. Then, he sees Colin place his beautiful hands on his thighs and dig his fingers into the muscle. He makes sure to make eye contact with Ryan as he takes him in.
Ryan groans, his head falling back. More than once has Colin tried to encourage him to keep eye contact with him while he’s giving him a blowjob, but he just can’t. Not because he wouldn’t like to see Colin doing it, he’d take that over anything, but Colin’s mouth just feels too good.
He makes sure to let Colin know that, letting out bits of praise and swear words in between his grunts, knowing Colin likes it when he gets vocal in bed.
It only takes a few clever swirls of Colin’s tongue to get Ryan close to the edge. He buries his hands into the bed so that he doesn’t have the urge to thrust forward, but then he feels Colin rustle a bit so he looks down and-
Almost comes right there.
He doesn’t, though, knowing what Colin has in mind will be a much better way to end this date.
Colin is the one bracing himself against the bed, relaxing his mouth around Ryan so that he can thrust in. He only manages a few times before his muscles give up on him and he releases into Colin’s mouth. Colin holds him in his mouth until he gets soft and only then slowly pulls away.
Ryan looks down just as his partner is wiping his mouth which makes him chuckle for some reason. Colin joins him, getting up and making a slightly disgusted expression.
“I need another shower.”
Ryan’s eyes pan to Colin’s crotch as he remembers what happened prior.
“I don’t, not really,” he says, raising one eyebrow at Colin who just shakes his hand in amusement. “But I’d love to join you.”
“You know we don’t fit inside together.”
“Then I’ll just watch.”
Colin’s laughter is the exact reason why Ryan’s indeed is the luckiest guy in the world.
No matter the changes their relationship went through across time.
The love never faded.
