“Mr Spock what is your relationship to Captain Kirk,” Admiral Pike asked the first officer, “Truthfully Admiral that question is of a personal nature, permission to answer truthfully,” “Granted. Spock there is no shame if there is a relationship between you two,” “He and I are as humans put it engage in a romantic relationship,” “You wouldn’t say,” Jim walked in after being summoned, “You wanted to see me Admiral, Spock,” “Dr McCoy has informed me of a rather peculiar situation, Captain Kirk it has come to my attention that you are pregnant and given your relationship with Commander Spock I have come to the reasonable conclusion that it’s his. I get we are in the 23rd century and there is no stigma but what I want to know is how it was possible, something on a mission, improper contact with other species,” “Admiral that is a cruel and distasteful remark, you will find that the captain and I are in a committed relationship with no intention to cheat on either side,” Jim shuffled on his feet, the only person in Star Fleet that knows the truth is Spock and his mum but that’s understandable, “Ashayam you don’t have to if you don’t want to,” “No it’ll save the whole of Star Fleet finding out, excuse me for the bluntness admiral but,” Jim undid his uniform and pulled it off one shoulder, “Why are you wearing a bra?” “It’s a binder,” oh that clicked, “I was 13 when I transitioned,” “Jim I’m sorry, I should have remembered,” “It’s alright I prefer people not to know anyways. Oh and I never actually slept with anyone before Spock, everyone assumed I did,” “All bark and no bite, thats why there isn’t a birth certificate for you registered till you are 14. I thought it was forgotten, what was your dead name?” “Admiral not even I his partner knows,” “Sorry that was to nosy, you two can go.”
The two walked to a near by café with chess boards on the tables, they ordered two English Teas and took there seats. “A baby wow, never expected that,” Jim sighed pulling out the stirring stick, “I know Jim, it is very unexpected,” “The question is can we handle it?” Spock and him thought deeply drawing the same conclusion, “Maybe.” They were called back to HQ immediately before they could discuss any further.
Looking at the records of the attack Kirk was the first to draw conclusion, “Why archives, any attack on Star Fleet will result in. Oh my god clear the room!” Jim yelled hearing thrusters outside, Spock leapt to Jim’s side pulling him away from the broken glass and impact, “Jim no,” “Spock we have to help,” his eyes pleading, they both raced back to help survivors but Jim managed to disable the craft. Sad but with Pike dead there secret died with him, thus it was easy for Jim to get his mission.
Being 14 weeks pregnant and a psychopathic mission is not the best. His true concern for Jim’s safety was for there child as well especially when Khan attacked Jim on Vengeance’s bridge, he had to gulp to not show emotion. Spock had no clue about his child or Jim’s condition as they valiantly fought to keep the Enterprise afloat. Jim had to realign the core no one else could, he left Spock the message that he’s sorry. “Spock, I’m scared Spock help me not be, please, I don’t know how you can choose not to feel,” “Jim t'hy'la please. Please hold on, you’ll be safe I promise, everything’s going to be alright. I love you,” he pressed his fingers to the glass in the Vulcan salute. Spock was furious at loosing his partner, child and captain all at the same time.
Beating the ever loving god out of Khan was satisfying to make up for Jim’s death, Uhura beamed down to give him a hand, “Spock, Spock he’s our only chance of saving Kirk!” A punch knocked him out cold.
Spock waited anxiously at Jim’s side, he stared at the two monitors at his side, one for Jim one for there little girl. By some great miracle she survived the chaos, Khan’s blood saved her too. “Are you alright Mr Spock?” “Anxious Dr McCoy I want them both to be alright,” “I understand Mr Spock, uh Mr Spock,” Jim pulled his eyes open bursting into life, “Relax you were barely dead,” McCoy teased, “Someone hasn’t left your side,” he stepped aside to show Spock looking relieved, “Spock,” “Jim do you know how irresponsible that was,” “Is the baby okay,” “Look for yourself,” Spock said anger lacing his voice, he swung the monitor round to face Jim, “It’s a girl Jim, we’re having a little girl,” “See you can’t stay angry for long. Georgina,” “Pardon?” “My dead name was Georgina Winona Kirk,” “Thank you for trusting me with it.”
Bones was strict with Jim as not to harm himself or there little girl, you bet he hated it. Finally on maternity leave Jim was just done, a quarter Vulcan child was kicking around like Jim was their personal football, how the hell did Amanda do it with a half Vulcan child. Right now he was sat to the table reading god knows what, it’s funny and he’s disassociating from reality. So much so that he jumped when Spock kissed his cheek, “Good evening t’hy’la,” he smiled, “Evening Spock, how’s everyone?” “On edge, they’re excited for us,” “I would be excited if it wasn’t for the fact that any day now with no warning a literal human’s going to force it’s way out of me,” Jim joked pivoting on his seat to face Spock, “There will be warning Jim your body will adapt to allow-,” “Don’t you dare try and explain labour to me, I just want this baby out,” he stood up, “Your baby belly has dropped on your abdomen,” Spock observed immediately, “Tell me, have you felt a significant increase in pressure on your bladder?” “Yes?” “What about mucus like discharge?” “Yes, Spock what is going on?” “All common signs of labour starting as soon as hours to weeks afterwards,” “Great that’s a great help.” Jim rolled his eyes walking away from Spock.
It started during the night, dull pains, Jim thought they were Braxton hicks and just kept trying to sleep. Eventually though he just couldn’t ignore them and had to sit up, “Jim?” Spock muttered, “Go back to sleep Spock,” he smiled running his fingers through Spock’s hair. By morning he certainly couldn’t ignore them, “Jim you are not alright, you are experiencing textbook labour symptoms I suggest we alert the midwife and make our way to the maternity ward,” “I’m not even going to argue Spock,” he leaned forward and pressed his head on Spock’s chest. Agreeing Spock picked up the duffle bag and assisted Jim in getting into comfy jogging bottoms and jumper.
The midwife met them on the ward and after assessing Jim deemed him to be 3cm dilated, a third of the way there. He was too far along to send home but it was going to be a long haul. The epidural didn’t work so he was suffering big time and labour was progressing incredibly slowly, without the epidural Jim was hanging onto Spock when they broke his waters in an effort to speed things along. As much of a pain in the ass Spock’s info dumping his, Jim didn’t mind as long as it distracted him, playing chess was also a good pass time. “Hey Jim came to see how you’re doing?” A nurse smiled, “Go ahead I just want the baby out,” “Good news 9cm,” “That is not long now t’hy’la,” “Well no shit sherlock,” “Jim vulgarity is uncalled for,” “Spock I love you but I am currently pushing a human-vulcan hybrid from my body which oh so happens to be yours so vulgarity is called for,” Jim snapped rocking on his hips.
Eventually the time came and over 24 hours after the first true contractions and you best be sure this child is coming now and fast. He ended up pushing in a supported squat, a head of blonde hair was making it’s presence known, stopping for a breather he grabbed Spock’s hand and forced him to feel the head squeezing it’s way out, “That is an incredibly odd feeling,” “Imagine now I feel!” Jim screamed suddenly getting the energy and need to push. The shriek of a very healthy set of lungs was relief, “Spock, Spock what do we have?” “A girl, we have a daughter Jim,” Spock was bordering tears and got the baby girl into Jim’s arms, she laid skin to skin on Jim’s chest contentedly yawning, “She’s tired,” Spock noticed, “Really baby I put in all the work and you think you’re tired?” Jim laughed as a blanket was placed over her, “Spock would you like to cut the cord?” Spock nodded taking the scissors. “Jim you’re going to need stitches so focus on your baby girl,” the midwife explained, Jim looked up at Spock with such sympathy in his eyes, “You did so well my ashayam, our daughter is so beautiful,” Spock praised him crouching awkwardly down to his level, “Spock can’t I at least get an I love you?” Jim asked, “Of course my love I love you, and I love you dear one,” he smiled cupping their baby girl’s head, “Love you too Spock.”
Baby girl was away from Jim for the ten minutes to be cleaned up, weighed and measured, Bones ha ordered his way in and was now playing bodyguard to the yet to be named baby girl. A nurse and Spock helped Jim take a shower while baby girl was being taken care of. “Dr McCoy who are you to this baby?” “Dad’s best friend and her bodyguard and personal doctor if need be,” hell he wasn’t doing any harm, “Come on baby lets get you back to your dad and papa,” Bones announced tenderly picking up the baby. He bowed out when the lactation specialist arrived. God this little one was hungry.
