Work Text:

Shmi Skywalker only remembers feeling warm, as if a blanket had covered her, before feeling another life inside her and finding out she was pregnant when she knew she hadn't been with anyone.

Then came the visions, or perhaps memories, of a noble being of immense stature, with large, strong golden wings of an angel. His face was so perfect and beautiful that it seemed to shine and blind anyone who dared to bathe in his light.

At night, when Shmi slept, she sometimes dreamed of that angel commanding legions of giant soldiers in red who fought against beings that could only be described as demonic. She saw them fight to the end, regardless of the fact that thousands of them fell one after another as they fought against the demonic forces.

In other, happier dreams, she saw him laugh and enjoy the company of other beings of equal size and light, all different, but with an aura that screamed that they were not simple humans. She saw him at peace, although Shmi knew that there was no peace wherever that angel was.

In other sadder ones, Shmi dreamed of the angel's death over and over again, enveloping her in an endless nightmare that broke her heart as she saw that angel fall under the hands of one of the giant men with whom he had laughed in the past. Shmi only saw that golden hair being bathed in blood, and his blue eyes closing to never open again.

Shmi questioned herself over and over again why she saw that. She questioned what she saw. With how destructive the battles she saw were, there was no way that the entire galaxy did not know, much less with soldiers of such great stature fighting against demons.

Was her mind playing tricks on her after the shock of her miraculous pregnancy?

Poor Shmi, she was not prepared for when she received her newborn son in her arms, or for the knowledge of the destiny that fell upon him.

"Sanguinius is alive, in another galaxy where the light of my Astronomican does not reach, but neither do the hands of chaos. Find Sanguinius, and the other lost Primarchs will return, ready to fight for the Imperium. Find Sanguinius, using psychic energy."

Those were the hopeful words that Roboute Guilliman received when he went to see his dying father on the Golden Throne as soon as he was awakened from his sleep after his last fight years ago.

Robute was grateful, for upon awakening and seeing the decay in which the Imperium was found, he felt himself fading, even more so when he was told that no loyal Primarch was present, all missing or dead. It was even worse when he saw the state of the Emperor, his only hope that could change the path of the Imperium.

Upon visiting him and seeing his condition, the Primarch of the Ultramarines did not hold out much hope, and thought that he would fight this war alone, without his brothers to help him against the hordes of enemies that threatened the Imperium, humanity and their worlds.

Knowing that Sanguinius, the Brightest One, the Great Angel, was alive, was more than Roboute expected, it was even better to know that with his arrival, his lost brothers would return and with them, the galaxy had hope of being able to escape the clutches of the Chaos Gods, the enemy xenos, and the Tyranids.

Anakin Skywalker knew who he was, but at the same time, he was confused. He knew he was Sanguinius, the Primarch of the Blood Angels, but he was also Anakin Skywalker, and he was conflicted about what his role was in this new place he found himself in.

He knew there were millions of worlds he had never visited, but in all of them he could feel his father's light, and on the planet he was on he could not feel his father's light, only a strange force that covered him like a mother. Was it psychic energy like his father and Magnus possessed? Or the hands of chaos at work?

As beings of the warp, all Primarchs had special abilities; Magnus was a powerful psyker, Vulkan a perpetual, and Sanguinius himself could see the future. He knew that if he was a psyker, it would not be strange to the angel. But Sanguinius did not want to play with those forces and risk falling like Magnus, but he trusted that he had his father's willpower, so he made his way to this new power in the name of the Imperium.

As a Primarch, it was easy for him to be able to use such power as a child, something he did in secret from the planet he was on, which was full of xenos and slavers. Anakin was a slave himself, he did not want to have to alter the future for some damn xeno.

Likewise, he prepared to receive and go with the Jedi when the time came, warned by his visions. There he developed more as a psychic and even learned new techniques with the sword, in addition to finding the lightsaber, a weapon that he really liked and which he would take with him and even alter.

The most difficult thing was living among xenos, beings that Sanguinius, like his brothers, did not appreciate. It was difficult for the angel to live with them and even see how they acted in such a... human way. And even though he didn't like it, he tolerated it, only because he knew that he couldn't actually annihilate them. His powers weren't fully back until the right time, and even if he had them, he didn't have his legion or the technology to fight in what would be a galactic war.

Sanguinius knew he was powerful, but he wasn't a god.

So he behaved and simply learned while he waited for the moment when everything would fall into place and Anakin Skywalker would become Sanguinius.

When he used psychic energy to contact Sanguinius, Roboute felt like he could have cried at the sight of his brother uninjured and alive, with his beautiful angel wings behind him.

“Oh, my brother, how glad I am to know that you are not dead,” and Roboute was not lying.

“By the grace of our father I am still alive, Roboute,” Sanguinius smiled. “Come, my brother, let us talk.”

Both Primarchs did not ask where they were or how there was a bench, they knew they were in a safe place and that is all they needed to know.

“Do you even know why I am here, Sanguinius?” Roboute asked once he was seated.

His brother's blue eyes looked at him with knowledge that went beyond the understanding of mere humans.

“Do not forget that I can see what is to come, brother, and my dreams have never stopped, nor have they ever been wrong.” Sanguinius' gaze turned to the star-filled sky. “I have seen the state of the Imperium... and of our father.”

“Father has said that your arrival will be the cataclysm for the return of our lost brothers.” Robute commented hopefully.

“Vulkan, Lion, Jaghatai, Leman, and Corvus. Yes, the Imperium needs them for what is to come.” Sanguinius whispered to himself, his mind filled with the terrible visions of the future. “Our traitor brothers will be there to stop us, and not only them, but also the gods of chaos and their forces, the xenos and the cursed tyranids.”

“The Imperium needs you. I need you, Sanguinius.” Robute admitted. “I know you have made a new life for yourself away from this chaos, but my brother, you are needed here.”

Sanguinius gave a slight laugh at his brother's concern about his new life. He knew that this far away galaxy he currently inhabited had its own problems, and Palpatine would surely achieve his goals if Sanguinius did not stop him. Unfortunately, and although he was loved by the Imperium, he was not the kindest Primarch, that was Vulkan. Therefore, it did not cause him pain to leave the Jedi and his acquaintances behind. The only person he cared about was his mother, and she was dead, and even if she were alive, the woman saw enough to understand what his fate was.

“Do not doubt me, brother. Me and my legion will always stand by the Emperor and the Imperium.”

Robute gave a nod in relief and then sighed, remembering his brother’s legion. Sanguinius knew the reason for the sigh.

“Do not worry about my children, everything will be fixed when I return. And I will make sure those demons suffer for the pain they have imparted on my children.” Although Sanguinius' voice sounded calm, it definitely promised pain and death to the traitors.

“It is a relief. I would not want my children to suffer what yours suffer after your death. But seeing you should remove the rage that consumes them.”

“So it will be.” The Primarch affirmed.

After a few seconds of silence, Roboute spoke.

“What will happen to your life in that place where you are?”

“I am Sanguinius, and I am Anakin. I am a single being, and I will return as the Primarch that I have always been.” The angel smiled. “This is a distant galaxy and if all goes well, they will not even be touched by the evil that consumes our galaxy. I will simply disappear and they will only be able to wonder where I went. My priority is my brothers, my legion, and the Imperium.”

“Then, I'll see you there.” Roboute stood up without further ado.

“I will be in Baal.”

Roboute nodded, he would head to Baal to find Sanguinius and welcome him once more.

And with that, both brothers disappeared but they knew they would meet again in a short time to welcome their other lost brothers and stop the advance of the enemies of humanity.

Notes:

The idea of Sanguinius being Anakin and coming back to life just. Didn't. Come. Out. Of. My. Head. And I had to write it one way or another no matter how crazy and nonsensical it was. Be thankful that I didn't make it a gay story or a reaction, or a gay reaction because Anakin is my favorite Star Wars character and I feel like he doesn't get the love he deserves.

Anakin looks like Anakin, but when he was talking to Roboute he looked like Sanguinius. When he returns to the Imperium he will look like Sanguinius, height, wings and all the nice stuff.

Like most of my stories, please don't try to make sense of it, or canon or whatever because it won't be here. I couldn't even figure out what to do with the Force, but that it's part of the warp, it is. Maybe the galaxy where Star Wars takes place could be one of the galaxies created by the Old Ones where the warp wasn't impacted that much because it wasn't touched by the madness where WH40k takes place... like a galaxy in another universe or something...

I'm already talking nonsense, I'm leaviiiiiing

I hope ya’ll don't dislike it lol
