Yawn.
That had been happening a lot more often lately Dot wasn’t quite sure why. Sure she has insomnia but being tired and being actively sleepy were entirely separate. However, she did notice that it was always around one particular person—Liko. As Dot clacked away at her keys the patter of rain joined the symphony trying her best to quickly finish up so she could join Liko, who was waiting patiently at her bed.
“You should probably get some sleep, Dot.” Liko chimed after one too many yawns.
Dot swiveled in her chair to stare at Liko dead on. “I’m alright,” a particularly squeaky yawn escaped as she mumbled, “I’m not tired.”
The artist looked at her in disbelief before silently striding over to pluck Dot out of her seat. The streamer only fought back for .02 seconds before completely giving in to her fatigue, leaning into Liko’s hold.
“Doesn’t look like you’re not tired to me,” Liko hummed, attempting to lay Dot down on the bed to tuck her in. Which didn’t go to plan as Dot clung to the taller girls torso like a stubborn Burmy would to a tree. “Dot, can you let go?” Liko asked, gently tugging the back of the purple fiends shirt.
“No.”
“Please?” She tried again.
“Noooooooooo,” Dot whined, tightening her own hold around Liko, “Stay?”
Liko wasn’t sure how the exhausted girl clung to her so tight while also fighting to stay awake. She figured that Dot really wanted her to stay. “Ok,” The bluenette acquiesced, “but only till you fall asleep.”
“Yippee!” The programmer cheered, letting go of her hold to sit at the edge of the bed making sure to drag Liko down with her.
They decided to watch Iono’s old gameplays of Five Nights at Ursarings. Dot enjoyed the tranquility of the dark room, She would’ve been cold if Liko wasn’t next to her. To be honest Dot wasn’t sure why she always felt more tired around the other girl or even when she started feeling it. That didn’t matter because she always felt so warm and safe around her—she was always a welcome comfort to Dot.
Despite the warmth the programmer felt she still craved more and so she deftly laid her head on Liko’s shoulder. Dot felt Liko tense for a moment, almost making her lift her head and apologize for making her uncomfortable. Her words died in her throat when Liko relaxed and wrapped a free arm around her waist. Dot scooched closer to curl into her body heat as if she were affected by the ability magnet pull. She let out a pleased sigh as the frighted scream of the gym leader and the patter of rain muffled. Just for a moment, paradise is just inside Dot's reach. For the sweetest second it was only them—Dot and Liko.
Dot didn’t even realize that she closed her eyes, already drifting off to sleep until Liko’s soft voice pressed against her eardrums. “Sleepy Dot?”
“Mmm, nobe not yet,” the programmer hummed, slurring her words earning a honey sweet chuckle from Liko.
“Seems like it to me.” Liko affirmed turning off the phone before gently laying Dot down, not having much trouble from her this time around.
When Dot figured that the bluenette was going to leave in order to rest in peace, she swiftly gripped Liko’s hand and pulled her closer to get a good position to drag her into the bed. With a soft yelp from the girl, Dot already had her ensnared in a wrap.
Liko’s face burned bright at the predicament she ended up in, Her heart pounding wildly with Dot practically laying on top of her. “Dot!?” she squeaked, draping one arm across her back giving her a light pat.
The streamer didn’t respond, only tucking her head under Liko’s with a pleased huff. She would have been as red as Liko if she wasn’t too tired to focus.
“Dot?” Liko tried again, face still flushed.
The only response the taller received made her blush even worse, her face heating up like the dex entry for Magcargo. At first Liko could hear much of what Dot was mumbling but when her hot breath caressed her ear had her brain crashing worse than the Olivine. “Yeah, heaven is a place I know when I’m with you,” Dot whispered, her tone a mix of reverence and affection, “where living doesn’t feel like falling.”
Liko’s heart raced so fast it could beat out her grandma's arcanine extreme speed. It seemed that the purple cryptid didn’t even notice the effect her words had on her slumbering softly without a care in the world.
It took longer than Liko would care to admit for her heart to calm, though it still beat the walls of its cage. She glanced down at Dot shifting into a slightly more comfortable position for the both of them. With the smaller girl all curled up under Liko’s chin her nose pressing into the crook of her neck. Liko tenderly raked her nails across her back earning a soft smile that she felt from the programmer.
Liko figured with Dot firmly asleep she decided to admit something of her own, “I don't know when I started loving you,” she paused before placing a sweet kiss to Dot’s forehead, “but now it's all that I think about.” Her whispers earned a near invisible shutter from the freckled girl as she curled in closer, not that she could get any closer without crawling into her skin. With that off her chest Liko felt herself fall into the grip of Cresselia’s wings.
“I love you too.”
