Work Text:
You let out a sigh.
You tried to stay calm but your grip on the flowers in your hand got tighter the longer it took Takeru to answer the door. You had spent around ten minutes after school to get Takeru some flowers.
You knew that Takeru was working really hard so you thought a reward would cheer him up. Make him just a little more happy and relax him.
Yet you were starting to get a little nervous. You heard footsteps behind the door and quickly calmed your expression. Takeru opened the door and immediately looked down at your hands.
“You got me flowers?” Takeru asked before looking back up at you.
“Yeah, you’ve been working really hard to pass your upcoming test. So I wanted to get you something”. You explained, all while picking at the stems of the flowers.
Takeru looked down at the flowers again, a thoughtful look on his face. “Really?” Takeru asked, “I didn’t even take the test yet”. Takeru pointed out. “I don’t care”, you said.
You took a step forward and Takeru took the message and walked out of the door frame to let you into the apartment. You took off your shoes and let your bag fall to the ground.
You heard Takeru shut the door and when you turned around Takeru was looking at you with a confused look on his face. “I know you worked hard and that’s all I care about”, you said.
Holding the flowers out at Takeru. “I’m proud that you worked this hard”, you said, making Takeru blush as he took the flowers from your hand.
Takeru brought them to his chest, hands right on top of the gold ribbon keeping the flowers together. Takeru leaned down and smelled the flowers with a smile on his face.
“Plus, these flowers have multiple meanings”, you said.
Takeru looked up at you with a confused look on his face. “They do?” Takeru asked and you nodded. “There either a gift for doing well on the test, or something to make you feel better if you fail”, you said with a smirk.
Takeru immediately glared at you and rolled his eyes. He walked past you, making a point of hitting you with his shoulder. You let out a laugh, though Takeru seemed mad you knew he wasn’t. You turned around to see Takeru placing the flower in a vase with a smile on his face.
Takeru was happy, he appreciated the gift.
You walked over to Takeru. Finding him leaning against the counter while looking at the flowers. “How did you know irises were my favorite flower?” Takeru asked. You looked over at the flowers, “they are?” You said, not even knowing this about Takeru. “Yeah, one of their meanings is hope”, Takeru said.
You nodded, remembering this piece of information for a future date.
“I just thought they looked pretty” You said, and that was true. The flowers were small but were a perfect mix of purple blue and a bit of yellow in the middle. They smelled floral which was perfect for a flower. “Well anyway, thank you, Y/n. I really like them” Takeru said.
Takeru turned over towards you and kissed your lips. You smiled, “Even though they have an undertone”, your smile fell. You watched as Takeru once again pushed past you and walked back to his room to continue studying.
“Oh come on, i think you’ll pass”, you said to Takeru’s back. “And if you don’t I’ll get you even more flowers!” You yelled out to Takeru. You heard Takeru laugh before he closed the door to his room.
You smiled and looked back at the flowers.
They did seem to make Takeru happy, that smile he gave when he saw them was really cute. Though, maybe you should have waited till Takeru had completed the test
Yet you just couldn’t help it, Takeru had been working so hard. You wanted to show him that you cared and was really proud of him. Takeru said that these flowers meaned hope, you never really cared about flower language but.
You immediately ran over to your bag and took your laptop out of your bag. Time to do some research.
You did need a flower to give to Takeru when he did well on the test.
*******
“You got me more flowers?” Takeru said as he opened the door.
He had a smile of disbelief on his face as he stared at the weird orange flower in your hands. You smiled, “Yes, I said I was going to give you a flower when you took the test, didn’t I?”
You said and Takeru shook his head with a smile on his face. “You did, so you heard I did well on it”, Takeru asked. Takeru moved out of the door and you walked in.
You removed your shoes and turned around to hand Takeru the flower before putting your bag on the ground. “Yeah, Hikari told me when I asked her”, you said.
You had to ask Hikari since Takeru got home before you and you wanted to arrive with the flower. You’d have to thank Hikari again. Takeru’s smile was too cute.
He smelled the flower like he did the last one.
He had the same small smile on his face too. You smiled just by looking at it. “I like this one”, Takeru said and you nodded. You liked it too, it was a tiger lily.
A nice orange color and unique, or weird, but there was another reason that you got it. “I thought so, this one means pride, I got it because I’m proud of you”, you said with a proud look on your face.
Takeru looked up at you with a blank look on his face.
“That's really cheesy”, Takeru said.
He put the flower in a vase that was on the table next to the door. Your eyes widened, “Fine, I won't do this again. No more flowers for you”, you said. You turned your head away from Takeru and crossed your arms over your chest.
“No, I love the flowers”, Takeru said.
He sounded sorry and walked over to you and wrapped his arms around your neck. You smiled and uncrossed your arms and wrapped them around Takeru’s waist. You leaned down and pressed your forehead against Takeru’s.
Takeru leaned up and kissed you. When Takeru pulled away he leaned back. “They're nice, I was looking forward to getting a flower when you said you were getting me another one”, Takeru said.
So that’s why Takeru spent more time studying. You smiled, feeling a little giddy that Takeru was that motivated by something you did. “Then I’ll get you as many flowers as you want”, you said.
Already thinking about the next flower you’d get Takeru.
