Chapter Text
“Be careful with your thoughts.” What the actual fuck? The prince was already walking off towards the throne and Sky was left standing absolutely bewildered. Sky had never felt so confused in his life.
His frozen state was broken when his little sister walked up to him and asked what the prince had said. Sky could only shake his head and reply with a simple ‘nothing’. One because he himself wasn’t sure and two because the prince was keeping an eye on them with a smirk on his face.
He spent the rest of the night pondering about what the prince meant. Even while dancing with beautiful women he could not seem to shake off the warm air that blew on his ear when the prince spoke to him. The feeling of the prince’s breath still lingering.
After dancing for the tenth time that night he finally decided to sneak out of the party. The royal garden was indeed fit for royalty. The fountain in the middle decorated with simple lights. Statues of little Garudas and elephants surrounding the garden, acting like guards. Flowers planted everywhere, providing a sweet scent that helped him forget the events of the night, even if it was just for a bit. Being by himself, Sky felt free from responsibility and rules. He disliked the palace, he didn’t understand how his parents along with his baby sister could stand it. It was so suffocating.
“What are you doing here all by yourself?” There it was, the same voice that whispered into his ears. The voice that he wholly found annoying. He had no choice but to greet the person. After all, the person in front of him was of a higher status.
“Your Highness,” He said while bowing his head. The prince acknowledged his bow by signalling to lift his head up.
“I needed fresh air, you should not be here all alone,” He said, studying how the prince’s face moved.
“Why? You worried?” The prince took a stride towards Sky, his face nearing the other.
“No, I just don’t want to be involved in some sort of scandal,” Sky could see the colour of the Prince’s eyes. It was stunning.
“Scandal?” The prince’s face was now extremely close, Sky could only gulp.
“Hmmm…” was the only thing Sky could get out. If anyone was in his position they would definitely feel the awkwardness and tension.
“What kind of scandal?” The prince asked, stroking Sky’s arm with his index finger. Sky had never felt this kind of sensation before. What the hell was the prince doing to him? The finger then glided up to his neck which caused something in Sky to snap out of unconsciousness.
Pulling away and backing up from the prince, he gave the other one last look before walking back inside. Sitting down next to his mother he remembered the hint of desire shown in the eyes of the prince. The whole thing made him way too nervous and way too unsure. Sky just wanted to run home and never see the prince again.
“Sky darling, where were you?” His mother asked touching his arm in a worried state.
“You were gone for the last half an hour,” His father chimed in. Sky didn’t know what to say, he was scared to say anything at all. Everything that had happened tonight, he wanted to keep it a secret forever.
“Darling, you look really pale. Are you sure you’re ok?” His mother continued.
“I am alright. Just dizzy from all the dancing, so I decided to step outside,” He responded. His parents didn’t look too convinced. But, they didn’t press on. It was one of the many things Sky loved about them.
The ball took longer than expected. It was another two hours of avoiding eye contact with the prince, making sure to stick next to his parents. Seeing his sister with the Queen, sent so many feelings in him to erupt. He felt disgusted with himself for acting that way with his sister's future spouse. He also felt a sense of envy, like when they were younger and his sister would get all the attention from their parents. His sister wasn’t like him. She was kind and cute, sure she was timid but people loved her. Sky on the other hand, didn’t really get along too well with others. Even if he wanted to, no one really talked to him. Except, for the friends he made in Primary School.
Sky wanted to go home. He wanted to leave. Especially, because he could feel the stares the prince was sending him from across the hall. So when his father finally decided it was time to head back, he sighed a sigh of relief.
The next morning when he woke up, all he could think about, was the interaction with the prince. He hated it. Just constantly remembering how close their faces were and how their breaths mingled with each other. Sky needed to find a way to forget. He had the best solution. Boxing.
Sky competed in boxing tournaments since a young age. Achieving many awards, that led to him earning the title ‘Tsunami’. He loved boxing with his whole heart but being the next heir, he needed to focus more on the family business. So after quitting, Sky only boxed for fun, as a form of self care.
The whole week was the same. He woke up instantly thinking about the prince, then he would head to their families gym to box a few rounds with their bodyguards. Followed up by meetings with his father on how to expand the family business. He tried to keep himself busy, which worked during the morning and afternoon. But, as soon as night fell, he could see the prince’s honey brown eyes which sometimes changed colours depending on the lighting. He could remember the way the prince’s finger lingered on his neck and how warm it felt on his skin.
Out of nowhere, his phone started ringing with an unknown caller. Sky never answered unknown callers. They were either pranks or scams, his phone kept ringing for the next seven minutes, until he decided to finally pick up.
“Hello?” The person on the other line didn’t speak.
“Hello?” Sky could feel his frustration rising up. They woke him up at one in the morning and had the audacity to not speak.
“If you don’t speak, I’m going to hang up,” As his fingers hovered over the end button, the person on the other line cleared their throat.
“Hey…” the voice on his phone said, it sounded a little rougher than usual.
“You don’t sound good,” Sky said, the other person coughing a little louder than before.
“Do you know me just by my voice?”
“Of course I do, Your Highness.”
“I must say I am quite flustered,”The prince said in between coughs.
“How did you get my number?”
“I asked your mother. She was very kind,” Sky was going to have a chat with his mother tomorrow morning.
“Don’t be mad at her. I forced her,” The prince exclaimed.
“Who said I was mad?”
“I don't know. Most people would be mad, so I assumed,” The prince said, still coughing really loud.
“Your Highness, do you even know what the time is right now?” Sky asked, the other line becoming silent. All of a sudden, the prince said sorry and goodnight, before hanging up. Leaving Sky even more confused than ever before.
Sky was finally able to keep his feelings and thoughts at bay. But hearing the prince’s sick voice over the phone, something in Sky felt bad. Ever since meeting the prince, Sky discovered many emotions other than the love he had for his family, the happiness he felt with them and the sadness him and his family experienced together.
The stupid feelings he discovered after meeting Little Prince was annoying. The feelings that caused him to feel warm, at the same time perplexed, was something he did not like. Sky could see a storm brewing and he knew, he had to get away from it. Otherwise, it would destroy everything in his picture perfect life.
