Chapter Text
April and Noah were outside the ICU watching Ava check on their patients' vitals after the surgery. The two of them approached closer to the room.
"How's he doing?" Apil asks.
"I was able to implant a permanent pacemaker than the one two you had done and he should make a full recovery. Hopefully next time he won't accidently mix up his meds." Ava took off her stethoscope and placed it around her neck.
"Thank God." Noah sighed in relief.
"Dr. Sexton, given the circumstances, it was a very impressive save on your part." The blonde placed her hands in her coat pockets.
"Thank you. That means a lot coming from you." He wore a nervous smile.
"You should count yourself lucky your sister was with you. Helping and encouraging you. One of the worst things you can do to a patient is abandoning them when you think you're not cut out for the work. Especially if they're already in a hysterical state of mind."
"You're right."
"Noah." His sister softly chastised him.
"Still, you have come a long way from being that green resident I met 2 years ago. I can tell you've improved a lot since then."
"Thank you."
"I guess spending time with Marcel is slowly rubbing off on you." Ava moved to walk between them. "Though I do hope you don't take after his OR bedside matters. I don't think I can handle another one of him. He's already a hand full enough now that he's part of the day time shift." The siblings watched the cardiothoracic surgeon walk away, looking astonish.
"That is the highest compliment I've ever received from Dr. Bekker." Noah grinned.
"I take that as a win if I were you and move on." She patted her brother's back and walked away.
