Chapter Text

I run inside giggling and blushing, not able to contain my excitement. I reach into my bag for my key and unlock the door.
“Mama! I'm home!” I squeal while taking off my shoes and walking into the house.
“Shun? Your face… You're trying to look like a pirate now? What's with all these bandages?...” My mom stares at me with a look of disappointment in her eyes.
“They-” I try to explain but get interrupted
“Just go get groceries… you're so useless.” My mom says whilst handing me a bag and some money.
“Ok…” My smile fades a bit and I put my shoes back on. I quickly remember it's raining outside .I hesitantly grab an umbrella. I could probably catch up to Aren and ask to go with him, so that's what I do, I try to run and see if I can see him. I finally found him but… He looks stressed, like he's on his way somewhere urgently. I watch as Aren rolls up his sleeves and takes his glasses off, putting them into his bag. I want to yell out for him but something inside me makes me want to follow him silently, curious to figure out the cause of his unease.

He's walking into an alleyway? He's closing his umbrella too? his hair is soaking wet, he could get a cold. What could Kuboyasu need to be doing there? It's probably a shortcut but something doesn't feel quite right. I continue to follow him but I keep my distance from him, being careful not to alert him of my presence. When I finally get close enough to be able to see what Aren is doing, I squint my eyes trying to see through the rain to make sure what I was seeing was true. I stare in horror as I see my best friend beating up a kid from our school. I couldn't see his face through the heavy rain. But I could tell from the uniform obviously and they looked strangely familiar, he wasn't just getting beat up though, the poor kid looked on the verge of death screaming for mercy, I thought Aren said he gave up on being a delinquent. Part of me wants to run and scream for him to stop it, but he's… hurting someone… for me?

Punch, kick
“IM SORRY, IM SORRY, IM SO FUCKING SORRY I SWEAR TO GOD ILL NEVER COME NEAR HIM I AGAIN ILL… EVEN MOVE SCHOOLS IF I HAVE TO! PLEASE!” Akio cries out while blood is seeping down his face, being washed away immediately from the rain. Arens hand is wrapped tightly around his neck, repeatedly punching him, blood continues leaking out of his nose and from the top of his head.

“I'll make damn sure you never come near him again.” Aren throws Akio across the alleyway a few feet causing the nearby rain puddles to splash and ripple when he lands. Akio lands face first causing his head to bleed even more, and his nose to make a snap sound. Each droplet of rain rinsing the red blood off more than he can bleed. I cover my mouth in terror wanting to scream for him to stop, for everything to stop. Although… Part of me knows he deserved it, I know the best what Akio has done to me. Aren lifts Akio’s head up by pulling the hair on the back of his head and dragging him over to a small curb, opening akios jaw and scraping his teeth on the side of the curb.

“PLEASE PLEASE DON'T DO THIS I PROMISE I'LL DO ANYTHING!” Akio is frantically moving and kicking his legs, trying to set himself free from Aren. With tears streaming down his face while begging for mercy, the rain falling on his head soaking his hair wet and replacing his tears, rendering them useless. Aren pauses for a moment to listen to his pleas for a laugh, enjoying his suffering, but after hearing enough, with little to no hesitation he puts his foot on the back of Akio’s head slowly applying more pressure.
“Shut the hell up.” Aren removes his foot from the back of Akio’s head for a moment, and shifts it to his back, practically standing on him. He grabs on the back of akios head pulling on his hair.

“PLEASE DON'T DO THIS” Akios body jolts around looking for any way to escape, but it is too late, his body is too weak to run.
“No one will care when you're gone, in fact it will bring happiness to a lot of people when you go missing. And when I hide your body, no one will find you, no one will look for you, because you are just a background character.” Aren giggles before looking around for a moment, noticing a very conveniently placed baseball bat resting against the brick wall in the alleyway, he shoves Akio’s head back onto the curb hearing his teeth clatter against it.
“MMPHHMPHHHMHMH” Akio attempts to beg for his life once more but his pleas are muffled from his mouth being shoved onto the curb. Still having his foot on his back, he reaches over for the bat, grabs it and winds back.

I drop my umbrella and fall to my knees putting my hand up on the wall. Aren smashes down wards, cracking Akio’s skull, locking his jaw to the curb, Akios frantic kicking begins to slow and his body goes limp. Aren continues smashing the bat into what's left of him, splashing more and more blood and brain matter everywhere in the alleyway. Aren continues hitting akios “body” until all that's left of him are organs, blood and some body parts still intact. I start to throw up everything in my stomach. I was sickened by what I just saw, I clench my stomach. I wish I could have gone back and never followed him. But Again, he just… beat up, no, Murdered someone… for me.

“Who is that?!”Aren screams. I stay quiet, cupping my hands on my mouth trembling, wanting to call out to him but too afraid to do so.
“A-A-Aren…? P-please say I'm d-dreaming…” I cover my face, peeking through the cracks in my fingers and walk out from the corner I was hiding behind
“Shun! O-oh my I-” I gag loudly interrupting Arens sentence. Aren walks away from Akios body towards me. I back up out of pure instincts, part of me wanting to walk towards him too.

“Oh Shun… I’m so sorry you had to see this.” Aren apologizes frantically, holding his arms up innocently, and slowly walking over to me with each step soaking the soles of his shoes in the crimson red blood pooling the gravel of the alley. My eyes follow as the blood slowly swirls down the sewer drains reminding me of what Aren did. In my panic I think of him getting caught, and it being my fault. Although he probably had a lot of experience and probably doesn't need my help I decided to blurt out.

“Aren, I can help you.” I pass him a large bag, my hands shaking enough for the bag to make a small rustle sound. The bag is probably large enough to fit a whole body and tie it up if stuffed in correctly. Aren reaches his hand out slowly to grab the bag ensuring he doesn't startle me.
“Uh- Right, thank you, but you don't have to do this…” Aren asks me confused.
“I do- I mean I don't b-but I want to.” I mustered up a few words. The last thing I want is for Aren to go to jail and for me to be alone again.
“Are you sure, sweetheart?” Aren says flirtatiously, putting his hand on my face, staining my face with Akios blood. He stares deeply into my red eyes. My eye colour matching the stain on my face. I blush immensely and my heart skips a beat not sure if it was out of fear or love. I look up into Arens eyes and see him staring straight at me with a look of concern and love mixed together. My eyes wander over to the distorted body, and back at Aren. He just ripped that guy to shreds only because he hurt me. Aren killed that guy… for me…
I feel my face getting even redder than before while Aren caresses my face sweetly. He just brutally murdered that man for me, and he treats me so… gently, so… lovingly,
Oh my,
“That was kind of… hot.”
“Wha-” Aren’s face full of concern quickly turns into one of confusion and embarrassment.
“What do you mean by that Shun?” Aren asks seductively and places his other hand on the back of my head, running his hands through my hair softly.
“F-Forget It.” I mumble and look down. Aren chuckles and grabs my chin making my eyes look directly into his. He leans downwards and presses his lip against mine, they taste like metal from the blood that had splashed from the mangled body. I wrap my hands around Aren’s neck pulling his head closer to me, Deepening the kiss.
“Mmph… Aren.” I back away slightly and lick the blood off my lip. Aren turns his head around and remembers the body is still there. Aren looks back at me, giving me a peck on the lips before petting the back of my head and giving me a sweet look in his eyes.
“I've got to deal with this mess princess, give me a minute.” Aren slowly lets go of my head and turns around to walk towards the body, crouching in front of it.
"Who are you calling princess…” I say while blushing in embarrassment and looking away from Aren.
“You, shun.” Aren says while ripping the body apart and stuffing each limb one by one in the bag with his bare hands. How is he doing such graphic things while talking to me so sweetly? It's gross… But on another note, it is kind of romantic, he did do this all for me.
“Shun?” Aren looks over to me while tying up the bag “I covered you in blood, sorry about that...” Aren smiles awkwardly.
“I-its alright, the rain will wash off most of it, I'm already drenched anyway.” I smile.
“If you say so, but we gotta get rid of this, and once we do that we have to change. My house is closer and I have a spare uniform for you. It probably won't fit perfectly but better than being soaked in blood and water.” Aren chuckles.
“Ok but how do we get rid of i-it?” I wring my hands at stare at the ground
“Well, the best idea is probably to drop it in a river, it will sink to the bottom if we put an extra weight into it, which I already did.” Aren replies. Wow, he's really experienced in this isn't he?
“Let's go now, darling.” Aren picks up the bag with both hands in a swift motion and drops of blood seep out from the bottom of the bag, getting on his shoes but stopping shortly. Aren begins to walk away and gestures for me to follow him. I grab my umbrella from the pavement and see that Aren left his bag, I look up at him already struggling to keep up the body so I just pick it up for him instead. It was a pretty heavy bag, I wonder how he carries this around school all day. I run up behind him and follow very closely, keeping my eyes open for anyone.
“This is so nerve-wracking… How could we be doing this in broad daylight? What if someone sees?” I whisper into Arens' ear. He shudders at the sudden warmth of my breath and looks back at me.
“Don’t worry so much I have this handled, I know the best way, Shun.” Aren smiles genuinely and looks forward again. His words weren't very convincing, but they managed to calm me down. He calmed me down. I managed to keep my composure until we reached Akios final destination, the river.
“W-huff-we made it” Aren plops the blood covered bag on the ground, it makes a splooshy sound. Gross, I could throw up again, but there's nothing in my stomach to throw up anyway.
“Let's throw it in together, come on!” Aren calls me over. I walk over awkwardly looking down at my feet and twiddling with my thumbs. When I get within his reach he pulls me in and places my hand on the handle of the bag.
“Just like that.” He grabs the other handle and starts to swing it back and forth impatiently.
“Let's get closer to the water!” He points closer to the ledge and begins to walk towards it. My legs drone behind him and I look over the edge. We weren't super high up or anything, but if I were to fall I would be seriously injured and swept away by the river.
“Ready? 1..2..-”
“Wait! Aren?...” I interrupted him for a second.
“Do you hear that?”
I hear a few leaves rustling around and,
Snap
A twig snaps and the rustling stops. It feels as if the world fell dead silent, not even hearing my own heavy breath anymore.
“Hello…?” Aren calls out. My eyes widen and I stare at him right in the eyes, wondering why he just did that. The rustling begins again and a girl with black hair tied back into a ponytail about our age walks out of the bush covered in blood but with no visible wounds. I drop the bag and run behind Aren leaving him carrying It by himself.
“Hello, Aren? I'm sure that's your name but I haven't seen you for almost 2 years.”
This girl knows Aren? Who is she? Why is she covered in blood? She could ask the same question though.
“Yan-chan! Jesus, I almost had a heart attack, please.” Aren let out a deep breath he was holding in and looked back at me.
“W-who is this” I ask curiously confused how Aren knows her as well.
“Who is this Aren?… A… Rival?” The girl smiles widely and stares at me expectantly.
“No! Definitely not. THIS is.” Aren lifts the bag slightly and shakes it a bit, a drop of blood drips from the crease and Yan-chan sighs.
“Oh, alright, that's too bad.” She giggles
“So… you guys are killing together…” Yan-chan squeals “So romantic! I hope I can do that with senpai one day! Hehehe!” Before anyone could say anything she runs away giggling manically with her hands covering her face.
“Uh ok. She was… something… What was her name again and how do you know her?” I ask
“She's my cousin… We also share some… Talents” He responds.
“Hmm. Alright.” I turn my head toward the river and see a head float up to the surface. I cover my mouth in disgust and turn away from the river.
“Ok, let's just do this already.” Aren begs.
“Ok.” I reply blankly and grab the handle of the bag swinging it forward.
“On three. 1…2…3.” I let go and watched as it fell into the river and made a huge splash sound. I fall to my knees in relief and Kuboyasu crouches beside me.
“So we're going to your house now… Right? Because it's closer?” I look at Aren and smile slightly.
“Yeah, we are covered in blood” Aren scoots over slightly towards me and goes onto his knees. He rests his head on my shoulder and we stare into the river listening to the water crash into the rocks. It was tranquil until someone decided to disturb our perfect peace.
“Buddy's!” a voice yells out. There's only one person who calls us his Buddy's… Nendou.
