Work Text:
“What the hell is that supposed to be?” The question is quick fired out of Baird’s mouth, because being polite about it is too much to ask of him. Cole takes it in stride as they stride through the snow, both coming to a halt. Cole has been working on it for about half an hour, Baird has never heard him talk less and it was a bit concerning. Not anymore of course after he sees the abomination he made.
“Mistletoe!”
Baird raises his eyebrow unimpressed. “That is a mistletoe? No no no- that is a stick with- what even- is that just- grass? Grass wrapped on an end. Wonderful.”
“C’mon Damon, play along!” Cole grins widely, shaking the stick- Mistletoe. Shaking the Mistletoe. Making all the grass he so carefully knotted fall to the ground. Baird watches it unblinking. Then he sighs, and leans in to press a kiss to Cole’s cheek making the man grin impossibly wider, his nose scrunching up adorably.
Baird’s cheeks flush ever so lightly as he runs a hand through his hair. “You’re welcome.”
“Aww I knew you loved me.”
“Yeah yeah whatever.” Baird huffs crossing his arms though now even his ears are red.
Cole’s grin lightens to something more fond and he reaches out to caress Baird’s cheek. “You’re adorable when you blush, baby.”
Baird’s eyes widen and they keep bouncing to Cole and the ground before eventually he scoffs and shakes his head, smiling. “You say the stupidest shit sometimes.”
“You love it.”
Baird simply keeps smiling at him. “I do.” He presses his lips to Coles, it takes a few seconds but Cole’s hand comes up and cradles the back of Baird’s head as their mouths move against each other.
They part and press their foreheads together. “I love you,” Cole says.
“Love you too, now come on big guy, let’s get the hell back to base- I’m freezing my ass off out here, no more look-out missions for us I want to be placed in front of a nice open fire.”
Cole chuckles and wraps his arm around Baird as they continue their walk back. “I hear you, baby.”
