A deep anguish and a feeling of utter hopelessness during the entirety of the kidnapping and torture, wondering when it all ends. Frighteningly realistic on the torture and mind control that it felt genuinely unnerving but the comfort and healing afterwards makes up for it at least. Disturbed me, made me burn with anger at the cruelty, left me relieved by the end 10/10 would read again.
