Chapter Text
“A vacation? To England?”
Moxxie and Millie were lounging on Blitz’s couch, watching him rush around his home to finish his last minute packing after their regular movie night. Blitz poked his head out of the bathroom where he was collecting his tooth and hair brushes to grin at his friends’ shocked faces.
“Yep! His book publisher is based in London, he’s going there to get some work shit done. Told him I’d never been out of the country before and he insisted I come with.”
“Do you even have a passport?” Moxxie frowned.
“Had to get one–shit, wait, where’d I put it?” Blitz dropped the plastic sandwich baggie he’d stowed his toothbrush in on top of his suitcase and scurried off to his bedroom. He heard Millie hop off the couch to follow and she leaned against the door frame as he dug through his bedside table.
“So, when do we get to meet him?” She crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes. There was no real heat behind her expression though, jokingly playing her part of the protective best friend well. “I hope you know it’s not really official until I approve.”
“There you are you little fuck.” He let out a relieved breath as he pulled the little identifying booklet out and shoved it in his jacket pocket. “We should all get dinner when we get back, you guys are gonna love him.”
“How long are you gonna be gone? Seems kinda fast to be taking trips out of the country together…” Moxxie’s suspicious tone called out as the two returned.
“Didn’t you guys get married after dating for like, less than a fucking year?” Blitz raised an eyebrow and gave Moxxie an annoyed look over his shoulder as he shuffled to neaten his belongings around in his traveling case. “Pretty sure I remember getting told to fuck off when I tried to tell you guys you were moving too fast. ‘When you know, you know’, right? Or did I fucking dream that?”
“Touché.” Moxxie relented.
“That’s what I thought. Anyway, we’ll be gone a week. Leave early as hell in the morning and be back Sunday night.” He zipped up the suitcase and turned back towards the couple and blinked at the dreamy look on Millie’s face. “What?”
“Nothing, B.” She said in a sing-song voice. “You just…seem really happy lately. It’s nice.”
He smiled and shyly dipped his chin. “Yeah…it is.” A loud, speeding drumline played from his pocket as his phone rang and he quickly pulled it out to answer. “Hey, babe.”
Millie and Moxxie turned to each other to share a smirk before collecting their things to leave. “Hello, Blitzy.” Stolas’ melodic voice came through his phone. “I was about to make myself something for dinner, I just wanted to check and see if you were going to eat before coming over?”
“Yeah, I’m good. We always do pizza on movie night. Oh, M&M wanna take us out when we get back. They’re really excited to meet you.”
Stolas gasped. “Oh, yes of course! I’d love to meet your friends!” Blitz gave the couple a thumbs up before giving each a hug as they waved him goodbye.
“Cool, well they’re heading out so I’ll be over soon, okay? Gonna do a final check that I've got everything.”
“Okay, darling. Don’t forget to pack something nice to wear, there’s a restaurant I mean to show you that has a dress code.”
“Rude, I have great taste. Everything I wear is nice.” He teased, walking around to make sure he wasn’t forgetting anything.
Stolas giggled and Blitz’s chest fluttered. “Of course, but you know what I mean.”
“Yeah, yeah. I’ll see you soon, Stols.”
“See you soon, Blitzy.”
After ensuring he had everything needed for their trip, Blitz threw his suitcase into the backseat of his van and headed off. He could have made the drive to Stolas’ home with eyes closed at this point with how often he made the short trip these days. The last month had been some of the happiest and most peaceful days he’d had in a very long time, and a lot of that was due to the time he spent with Stolas.
Blitz was unspeakably grateful he took the chance to build a relationship with him. It was still early, a honeymoon stage, and he knew there would be rough patches ahead. Stolas still didn’t know everything about his life, still hadn’t seen all the ways Blitz had messed up in the past and Blitz could only imagine what kind of skeletons lay in the closet of a multi-century old demon prince. They had gotten the big stuff out in the open though, and Blitz was more than happy to just enjoy the tranquility while he could, still easily able to keep the lid on the thoughts nagging at the back of his head that he didn’t deserve what they had or that ruin was on the horizon.
There was plenty of time for everything else, all the time in the world potentially since having a demon for a boyfriend meant even death didn’t necessarily have to be the end. For now, all that mattered to Blitz was seeing that bright smile on Stolas’ face as often as he could and relishing in the solace it granted him.
