Chapter Text
In a split second Henry has to decide if he wants to reveal his memories returned with everyone there or figure out a way to get Alex alone first.
“You’re smiling but you’re still crying.” Alex says, cradling his face and wiping Henry’s tears with his thumbs. “Are you okay?”
“I have a bit of a headache.” Henry says low enough for only Alex to hear.
“I’m sorry my cologne made your head hurt. I won’t wear it again.”
“I think I’m just exhausted. It’s almost time to start Kit’s bedtime routine. Can you tell everyone it’s time to say their goodbyes?”
Alex kisses his forehead. “Of course baby. You take Kit and head upstairs. I’ll be up once everyone’s gone.”
Henry nods and heads upstairs.
He hears Alex say, “Thank you all so much for coming, it’s been a phenomenal day. Hen has a headache and it’s time for us to start Kit’s bedtime routine, so it’s time to say our goodbyes.”
When he gets upstairs he sits on the bed with their baby boy.
“Hello, my little darling. Daddy, loves you so much.”
Henry’s so excited to have all his memories of Kit.
Back when he didn’t have any, he’d look at him in awe that he actually has a son. Now he knows all the love, stress, and anxiety it took to get him here.
While Henry bonds with Kit, Alex is getting everyone out the door.
“Thank you for taking such great care of him.” Arthur gives him a hug.
“It’s my pleasure, truly.”
Catherine hugs him next. “It’s nice to see him happy. Thank you for all you do for him.”
“Y’all don’t have to keep thanking me. He’s my husband. I meant it when I said I’d be there for him in sickness and in health.”
“We know,” Pip says hugging Alex next, “but we’re still going to thank you.”
Alex’s parents are next to say their goodbyes.
“See you tomorrow morning, sugar.”
“Bye, Ma.”
“I hope Henry feels better.”
“Thanks, Pa.”
He finishes saying his goodbyes, grabs pain medicine and water for Henry’s headache and heads upstairs.
When he gets to their room Henry’s holding Kit in front of his face, giving him Eskimo kisses.
It’s something he’d do a lot before his accident, so he’s happy to see him start doing it again.
“Here, baby. I brought you some water and medicine for your headache.” Alex sets it down on the nightstand.
“Thank you, darling.”
Alex smiles walking to the closet to take his clothes off and change into something more comfortable.
Henry sits there with Kit, watching lovingly as he tries to eat his nose.
So many different ways of revealing his memories returned come to mind, he doesn’t know what to do.
It’s like when he was standing on the terrace trying to introduce himself all over again.
He could wait until the next morning and reveal it on Christmas.
He could just come right out and say he remembers everything when Alex gets in the bed.
He could do an obscure thing that he’d only do if he had all his memories or bring up something he’d only know if he had his memories.
So many choices. Too many.
Thinking back to the stories Alex told him gives him a memory to bring up when the time is right.
-------
Alex walks back over and sits beside him in bed.
He didn’t put a shirt on because he’s about to breastfeed Kit.
“Here, let me feed Kit so we can get him to bed.”
Henry hands him Kit and they do all of the steps of his bedtime routine.
Once Kit’s sound asleep in his bassinet, Alex goes to the bathroom to brush his teeth in case Henry feels well enough to at least make out — or at most have sex.
Henry must have the same idea because a moment later he appears in the bathroom to brush his teeth.
They both stand there and brush their teeth, frequently looking at each other in the mirror and smiling.
Henry walks behind Alex and presses up against him.
Alex smiles even brighter, happy the hardening he’s feeling pressed against him means Henry’s feeling well enough to have sex.
He bends to spit the toothpaste out, arching his back in the process, pressing his ass even firmer against Henry’s cock.
Henry groans and shifts to spit his toothpaste out.
They both swish with mouthwash and Henry presses against Alex again, hoping he does exactly what he did when he spit out his toothpaste.
When it’s time for Alex to spit out his mouthwash he leans back first, pressing his back into Henry’s chest and rolling his hips, grinding on him — studying Henry’s face the whole time.
Henry’s mesmerized by the way Alex’s body moves.
Alex leans forward again to spit out his mouthwash, feeling Henry get harder and harder.
Henry slides his hands up Alex’s back and then slowly drags them back down, without breaking eye contact.
Alex bites his bottom lip. He loves when they don’t rush into action and spend some time teasing each other.
Henry’s hands caress his back some more before one trails down to his hip and the other tangles in his hair.
He pulls Alex’s hair, relishing the way his eyes close in response.
He uses the hand in Alex’s hair to pull him up so he’s standing, leaning back on him like he was before.
Henry holds him there and then shifts them so he can spit out his mouthwash.
When he straightens back up he looks at Alex in the mirror and purrs, “You lied to me.”
Alex is surprised by Henry’s accusation.
He has no idea what he could be talking about. But he doesn’t look angry, so whatever it is must not be that big of a deal.
“Lied to you about what?”
“You’ve only lied to me about one thing in the last month. What was it?”
There’s only one lie that comes to mind, but the only way Henry would know he lied is if the memory of what happened returned.
“I can tell from the look on your face that you know the lie I’m talking about.”
Alex is suddenly aware that he’s panting. The deep voice Henry’s using always manages to give him goosebumps.
“The mausoleum.”
Henry makes a pleased hum as his hands play with the waistband of Alex’s boxers.
The way Alex is panting means he’s definitely hard and he really wants to touch him.
“May I?”
“Yes.” Alex rasps.
His hands slide inside of Alex’s boxers, the fabric is damp because he’s already leaking pre-cum.
“Why’d you lie to me?” He asks, wrapping his hand around Alex’s cock.
“You already seemed shocked when I told you about everything that happened with your gran, especially us drinking champagne at her grave. So I decided not to tell you the full truth.”
Henry kisses Alex’s neck while slowly stroking his cock.
“You didn’t have to mention anything at all. Why lie?”
Henry moves to the other side of Alex’s neck, kissing and nipping at the skin, and Alex is so turned on he can barely think straight.
“It still would’ve been a lie of omission.” He replies in a slightly slurred voice.
Alex’s head drops back and Henry loves that Alex surrenders to his touch so easily.
Henry removes his hands from Alex's boxers, making him whine.
“Would you like it if I bent you over and fucked you like I did that night at the mausoleum?”
It’s just as Alex expected. Henry’s memory of the day they went to his grandmother’s grave returned. That’s the only way Henry would know that, unlike what he told him, they did have sex.
Alex doesn’t reply, he just pulls down his underwear so he’s standing there completely nude.
He watches Henry’s reflection as his eyes scan over him.
“Does that mean yes? Use your words, darling.”
“Yes.”
Henry bends slightly and pulls Alex’s leg up so it’s propped on the counter.
He takes off his clothes, gets lube, and slicks his fingers.
Soon he’s pushing into Alex, praising him with every thrust.
“You’ve taken such great care of me.” Henry coos. “Not just in the past month when I lost my memories, but from the moment I met you.”
He hooks his arm under Alex’s thigh and pulls him back so he’s standing, continuing to thrust into him while holding his leg up.
“Look at yourself.” Henry breathily commands. “You’re so fucking stunning.”
Alex responds with moans and groans, not fully comprehending everything Henry’s saying — too distracted by the pleasure overtaking every part of him.
Henry stops, gently placing down Alex’s leg and turning him so they’re facing each other.
It’s clear from the look in Alex’s eyes that he’s not listening to what’s being said. Not because he doesn’t want to, but because he can’t. His body is so overwhelmed with desire he’s disoriented.
Henry picks Alex up and kisses him, walking him towards the wall.
Once Alex is braced against it, he releases one of his legs so he can slide himself back in.
Alex locks his legs around Henry’s waist, clutching his shoulders as he drives into him.
“You’re so gorgeous and brilliant and kind.” Henry pants and grunts. “I can’t wait to put another baby in you.”
Alex’s eyes flutter when Henry says that.
“You like hearing that, darling? You like knowing I can’t wait until you’re growing another one of my babies?”
Alex doesn’t respond, so Henry thrusts into him hard. “Tell me.”
“Yes.” Then a moment later. “Harder.”
That’s the last comprehensible word Alex utters, because once Henry starts fucking him harder the only sounds that escape are incoherent babbles and debauched noises.
“Are you going to cum for me?” Henry coos and Alex nods.
“Do it.” Henry rasps. “Cum for me.”
Alex erupts between them and Henry cums right after.
-------
He carries Alex to the bed and cleans them both off before putting on their underwear and cuddling with Alex in bed.
“You remember?” Alex asks once his brain is back online.
“I do.” Henry confirms. “Can I tell you something else?”
“What?”
“I put up the mistletoe.”
Alex turns over to face Henry. “Huh?”
“The day we met, I put up the mistletoe.”
“Why’d you tell me you didn’t?”
“I liked that there was a bit of mystery.”
Alex rolls his eyes fondly. “Tell me what really happened.”
“After I told Pez I was going to my study, I decided to put it up in case you followed me. I knew it was a long shot and figured I could always deny knowing it was there if someone other than you turned up. But when you knocked on the doorframe and I saw you, it felt like fate.”
“It was.” Alex happily replies. “I’m so glad those two memories came back.”
“All of them came back.” Henry corrects him.
Alex’s eyes go wide. “All of them? What do you mean? How? When?”
“Breathe, darling.”
Alex takes a deep breath and then bursts into tears. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
Alex wipes his tears. “And I need you to know that I was gonna love you and support you for the rest of my life whether your memories came back or not.”
“I know and that means so much to me.”
“Our families are gonna be so excited.”
“They sure are.”
“I can’t wait to see their reactions.”
“Me either.” Henry yawns. “Alright, let’s go to sleep. I didn’t sleep well last night because I was so nervous about today. I love you and happy anniversary.”
“I love you too and you already told me happy anniversary.”
“I’m telling you again.”
“Happy anniversary to you too baby.”
The next morning, everyone comes over for Christmas.
Henry decides to wait and announce his memories came back once everyone gets there.
There’s one wrinkle in his plan — Oscar Diaz.
When June, Nora, and Alex’s parents arrive, Henry goes to greet them.
“Merry Christmas, Mijo.” Oscar pulls him into a hug.
“Merry Christmas, Pa.”
Oscar gasps and looks at Henry with tears in his eyes. “Te Acuerdas?”
Henry nods.
Oscar pulls him into another hug.
“Well, the cats outta the bag.” Alex laughs.
Henry’s family is just as excited that his memories returned.
Everyone affirms that, though they’re happy his memories returned, they love him no matter what.
Like all of his Christmases the last few years, it's a Christmas to remember.
