Chapter Text
Damian appeared in Oscar’s room and smiled. It had been two nights since he last saw him and he was coincidentally in the same position that Damian that seen him in. The priest was asleep on his bed, his head leaning against a pillow. He slowly walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, reaching and gently rubbing his finger against the priest’s cheek. “How I’ve missed you, beautiful….don’t worry I get to take you home soon. Your God has allowed you to be mine, I love you Oscar.” Damian whispered as not to wake his priest and kissed his hair before sitting down on the chair in Oscar’s room.
He didn’t want to disturb the priest by laying down on the bed so he sat on Oscar’s desk chair and swung his legs over the armrest. Maybe he can have a rest himself.
******
A few hours later, Oscar began to stir softly, his eyelashes fluttering before his eyes finally opened. He groaned and sat up, rubbing his eyes as he did. He then looked around the room until his gaze landed on Damian. Asleep in Oscar’s desk chair, he had returned to him even after going home to Hell.
He had kept his promise to come back, good, Oscar wasn’t ready for that heartache again.
His head tilted to the side, a soft smile creeping across his face despite himself. The demon was fast asleep. Despite it being a bit uncomfortable he was sleeping peacefully, his body leaned forward.
There was a look of contentment on Damian’s face. A part of Oscar thought it would be sweet to take a picture of this moment. Or draw it. He’ll have to do both for future purposes. Oscar couldn’t help but admire how peaceful the demon looked when he slept. His chest was rising up and down slowly and smoothly, the rise and fall almost hypnotizing him. He got up and threw a blanket over Damian to keep him warm as he slept as he knows the demon would do for him.
There was a look of joy upon the demon’s face as he slept, which is something he didn’t see very often when Damian’s wide awake.
As Damian began to wake up, he noticed the blanket that had been placed over his waist and chest. When he fully opened his eyes, oh damn his neck hurt from lying in that chair all night. When his eyes focused he seen the best sight.
His priest in his usual attire, sipping a cup of tea as he looked at the newspaper at a small table in the room. “You came back…” Oscar said as he heard Damian wake and placed the newspaper down.
“Damn... you sound so surprised to see me”, Damian teased as he sat up. He moved his neck from left to right, stretching it out a bit, which ended up making a few cracking noises.
As he sat up, the blanket fell down, revealing his bare, toned and tan chest. He smirked when he caught Oscar quickly glanced at it before looking away. “Did you miss me...?”, Damian asks, tilting his head slightly and teasing him by pretending to look a bit pouty.
He didn’t even need to hear the human’s answer. The way his eyes lit up and slightly widened when he appeared was enough to tell him he did, in fact, miss him. Damian got up from the chair and stood up to stretch in just the jeans he slept in. Oscar was trying to keep his composure but he was failing terribly.
He couldn't help the soft gasp that escaped his lips when Damian got up. His messy hair, muscular bare torso... he'd practically just woken up. But how was that fair? He looks gorgeous, even when messy. Damian sat down at the other chair at the table opposite Oscar, still shirtless and leaned on his elbows. Oscar glanced up and his eyes widened.
He could feel his face heating up as he stared at the demon’s chest. The muscles, the smooth skin… “Why aren’t you wearing a shirt?”
“Because I don’t sleep with anything usually than boxers.” Damian said as he walked into the kitchen and made himself a coffee.
He was weirdly domesticated. For a demon. Like he wasn’t a demon but he was, it made sense in Oscar’s head but probably not out loud.
Oscar didn’t want to take his eyes off the man’s toned back, how his muscles rippled every time he moved. Damian then felt Oscar’s arms suddenly wrap around his waist and hug him tightly around the midriff.
“Just don’t leave again.” Oscar said, Damian sighed. “You know I actually wanted to talk to you about that.” Damian said, wanting to explain is his reason for being here and his uncle’s blessing. Damian took a deep breath, trying to figure out how to explain everything to Oscar. How could he tell him that he was given a blessing by the the creator of everything himself to have the man he’d become so fond of?
“Okay…don’t freak out, okay?” he said, placing his hands on Oscar’s hips. “I need to tell you something. And I need you to be calm when I say it.” Oscar nodded and listened to what Damian has to say. He was intrigued but worried.
“I spoke to my father about us and it didn’t exactly go well, he wasn’t happy in the slightest but we’ll come back to him. Then I spoke to my uncle…..” Oscar gaped. “Your family knows about us?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. “You don’t know who the rest of family is do you?” Damian asked, Oscar shrugged
confused. “Well, I know your father is the king of Hell and the Devil. But other than that, no.” He said simply.
“Are the rest of your family also demons?” He questioned next, Damian hummed. “Well, half of them are. Obviously there’s my father, then I am the eldest prince and son of three, I might have said that before. My younger brothers, Ba’al, the demon more commonly known as Balthazar and Lucifer, he’s the youngest surprisingly. But that’s not all my family.”
Damian chuckled and continued. “It’s the rest of my family that leads me to why I took so long coming back.” Oscar was listening to Damian intently. “Oh?” He says, shifting closer subconsciously to the demon. They were still standing as Damian kept talking. “Yes, my uncle and cousins are actually of a heavenly origin.” Oscar’s eyes widened when Damian explained this.
He actually had family in Heaven? That was almost unfathomable. He knew that demons had to start as something holy in the first place but to have been born there and then fall….
“What…what happened?” He asked gently. He wanted to know, he needed to know what led to Damian being sent to Hell. “Well, neither me or any of my brothers were sent to hell if that’s what you think. My father was when he was young but my brothers and I, we’re what you call Hellborns.” Oscar listened intently to the demon’s words. It’s rare for one to say so much about themselves. Even less so for a demon.
“Hellborn…” he repeated, his eyes looking up at the demon’s face. “Hellborn…you were born in hell? That sounds painful.” Damian nodded, his smirk faded a little bit at that, the memories from his past coming back to him. He closed his eyes and nodded.
“Born in hell…and my mother died in labor with Lucifer…so I’ve never really had a full family. Just my father, brothers, uncle and cousins. But it’s my uncle I want to talk to you about.” His blue eyes softened slightly, watching the demon intently as he spoke. The priest’s mind wondered what all of this had to do with him. But he simply tilted his head and listened.
“My uncle is the one that’s kind of actually raised me more so than my father. Of course my father still raised me but my uncle was a much more nurturing parent figure and the one that actually solved all my problems when I was younger.” Oscar hummed as Damian spoke. He listened to him, hearing the demon speak so much about himself and the people in his life, his family. It was new, he didn’t think Damian would ever speak so much.
“I see.” He replied softly. He wanted to know more. He wanted to know everything. “So why mention your uncle now?” Damian chuckled. “Because he gave us something that I think you’ll like.” Oscar was curious, what could Damian’s uncle have given them? “What is it?” He asked, staring up at the demon’s face.
Damian looked down at Oscar, smiling. “He gave us his blessing.” Oscar’s eyes widened, his heart skipped a beat. “His blessing?” He repeated, his cheeks starting to darken slightly. “You spoke to him about me?”
“Yeah, well my father wasn’t that understanding so my uncle was my next port of call. now he’s the kind of shocking part for you. So please don’t freak out.” Damian got out eventually. “I promise I won’t,” Oscar said. His heart was racing, Damian has already said many shocking things tonight, this definitely wouldn’t be as bad.
Right?
Damian smirked more. “My uncle isn’t just any celestial deity or angel. He is…God.” Damian’s words hung heavily in the air. Oscar’s eyes widened. His heart stopped. His breathing ceased and when reality finally hit him, he thought he was dreaming. “Come again?” He choked out. He needed to make sure what he heard was correct. He needed to make sure Damian didn’t slip up.
“Your uncle is..” he couldn’t even say the word, it was so ridiculous, so unbelievable. A demon actually knowing God? Damian chuckled again. “Yes, my uncle is God…the big man.” Oscar had to do a double take as Damian kept speaking. “My uncle….the creator of everything. The almighty and all powerful. He gave us his blessing to be together.” Oscar could feel himself feeling dizzy, his mind and heart racing at the news.
God…the creator of everything. Gave his blessing to a demon and a priest to be together. How the hell was he meant to stay calm at that realization? “Why…why would he?” Oscar asked. “Why would God give his blessing for a demon and a priest?” The question of why was hanging in the air in big, bold neon lights.
Damian’s expression became more soft and sincere as he took Oscar’s hands in his. He rubbed slow circles with his thumbs into the top of Oscar’s hands. Damian hummed, taking Oscar’s hands in his. He squeezed gently. “I believe it is the fact that he understands that true love knows no boundaries. Good and evil don’t matter when it comes to souls meeting like ours and falling in love.” He said softly, his thumb running over the back of Oscar’s hands.
Oscar looked down, staring at their hands. Two very different hands, one large and pale, the other tan and smooth. They fit together so well. Maybe it was because of their vast differences that they felt so good with each other.
“But…God…giving us his blessing? Are you serious?” He asked softly, he still couldn’t believe it.
“One thing I am dead serious about. My uncle blessed us, so you shouldn’t feel so guilty anymore.” Oscar nodded softly and looked back up at Damian. “So..he’s okay with this?” Damian looked into his eyes and grinned more. “Yes, he is. Which means you also don’t have to fear losing your vow to him since he technically isn’t against us being together. So consider yourself still somewhat celibate.” Damian laughed.
Oscar felt relief flood into his body, the stress he’d been under this whole time was slowly lifting. Damian had God’s blessing and God wasn’t against their relationship in the slightest, so he was free to feel whatever he wanted for Damian.
He felt free.
And with that newfound freedom, he didn’t hold himself back. He flung his arms around Damian’s neck and pulled their bodies flush together. He squeezed his arms around the demon so tight, it was as if he was afraid of him disappearing. Damian wrapped his arms around Oscar in return, squeezing him and pulling him even closer. He buried his head in Oscar’s neck.
He took a deep breath, inhaling the man’s scent, letting himself get high off it. He’d truly missed the man. He reached a hand up to brush Oscar’s hair out of his face, his touch so gentle and tender, that it took Oscar’s breath away, just for a moment as he buried his face into Damian’s shirt.
“You know, I also got permission from him to take you home. That is if you want to, you don’t have to. I’m not forcing you. If you want to stay in your home that’s alright.”
Oscar’s heart nearly explodes at Damian’s gentle touch and kind smile. He can’t help but lean into his hand as he brushed his hair out of his face. He can’t even believe his ears right now. He can barely comprehend what he’s hearing.
Oscar pulled away slightly and looked at the demon. Home. Damian had called his place home. It made him feel even better knowing that he already considered Oscar’s home both of their homes.
He stared at Damian, biting his lip again. “You mean…I can go to Hell with you?” He asked slowly, he’d never pictured Hell as a place anyone would actually live let alone want to live. But this was a chance for a whole new start with the demon.
