Work Text:
It was a quiet day in the Watchtower after the Justice League's latest mission. The members of the team had gathered in the meeting room, discussing their next steps, when Captain Marvel—found himself slowly drifting off. He had just returned from a high-energy fight, and although he was physically fine, something was off. Billy knew he shouldn't be tired, he had the powers of the gods on his side.
In his head
Solomon (the wise one, with a tone of concern): "The magic you have been exposed to earlier may have something to do with the way you are feeling…”
Thamva (with concern): “ Billy whatever is going on our form is faltering”
Billy (as Captain Marvel) thought ( Hm.. yeah probably but this is weird, something foreign—was lingering in his system) *His smile stuttered and his face scrunched in thought*
His thoughts were clouded, and his usually sharp mind was fogged. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. It wasn't like the usual magic surge he was used to when transforming; it was more like an ache, a faint thrum inside him. He couldn't place it.
As the Justice League continued to talk around him, Captain Marvel tried to focus. But everything seemed to blur together. His eyelids grew heavy, and the words of his teammates turned into background noise. Superman was talking about their next mission, and Batman was analyzing intel, but none of it mattered.
He wasn't tired, but his body was starting to feel sluggish. Maybe it was the after-effects of the fight. Maybe it was the magic.
Suddenly, before he even realized what was happening, a pulse of magic surged within him. His body tingled with an overwhelming energy—stronger than usual, almost... chaotic. He opened his mouth to say something, to tell the others something was happening, or to ask for a moment to get himself together, but before a word could leave his lips, the magic reacted.
With a flash of brilliant light, Billy Batson poofed into existence right in front of the League, in his civilian form. The entire room froze, staring at the 14-year-old boy who had just appeared out of nowhere.
Billy, who had been yanked from his own body as Captain Marvel looked around in confusion. He blinked a few times, clearly dazed, unsure of what was going on. His hair was slightly disheveled, and his eyes were wide as he processed the scene in front of him. He could still hear the gods in his head confused and yelling about how to fix this.
Marvel, still in a daze, quickly snapped into action. There was no time to explain, no time to tell the League what had just happened. Thavma needed to make sure Billy’s identity didn't get out unless he wanted it to. The only thing he could think to do was to lie. But he needed to make it sound good, to keep his identity hidden, to make sure no one questioned what they were seeing.
He stood up from his seat quickly, flashing a smile of pride that could have been seen from across the room.
Captain Marvel (Thavma) (beaming, speaking loud enough for everyone to hear, a bit too enthusiastically):
"Ah, well, everyone, I have wonderful news! This is Billy! I just gave birth to him!"
The room went dead silent. All eyes turned to Marvel, some with open disbelief, others with confusion. It was one of the most bizarre things any of them had ever heard. Even Batman, the usually stoic detective, narrowed his eyes, clearly processing what he had just heard.
Superman (blinking, clearly confused):
"You... uh… made him?"
Captain Marvel (grinning even wider, fully ignoring the confusion in the air):
"Yep! Magic, you know. Thought about it for a while, and I guess now was the time for him to show up! It happens, he’s my kid. Isn’t he great?"
Billy, still standing there, blinked in surprise at Marvel’s proud proclamation. His brain was catching up now, but he was so disoriented he wasn’t quite sure what to say.
Billy (after a beat, still trying to process, finally speaking up with a confused and unsure tone):
"Uh.. w-what…"
But Marvel was already moving forward, pointing at Billy with exaggerated pride as if they were unveiling the world’s most incredible secret.
Captain Marvel (nodding, as if this was the most natural thing in the world):
"Yep, that's right! You wouldn’t believe the process, but I’m really proud just look at him!"
Flash *waving his hands trying to calm down his thinking* (trying to wrap his head around it all but unable to suppress his curiosity):
“WHATWAITWAITWAITIWAitawaitawit, so you’re telling me... you just WHAT… here? Like, right now?"
Captain Marvel (nodding, now practically glowing with pride):
"That’s right! It’s a magic thing, and you wouldn’t understand unless you’ve been part of the process. But it’s special, and Billy is the best thing that’s ever happened to me."
The Justice League exchanged a series of awkward glances, everyone trying to process what Marvel had just said. It was all so strange, yet there was a quiet sincerity in Marvel’s voice. His pride was so overwhelming that it almost made the bizarre story sound convincing.
Wonder Woman (tilting her head slightly, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips):
"Well, that’s... quite the revelation, Captain! Congratulations! "
Green Lantern (clearly confused, though he wasn’t sure if it was out of disbelief or genuine amusement):
"Okay, okay. I gotta admit, I didn’t see this coming."
Batman (in his usual deadpan manner, crossing his arms, watching the exchange with intense scrutiny) *typing new information on marvels profile*
"Hm. uh huh. Magical childbirth."
Captain Marvel (nodding, beaming like a proud father):
"Yep. Took a lot of energy, but it was totally worth it. You know, magic’s complicated. But we’ve got it under control."
Meanwhile, Billy was still struggling to make sense of it all. He had no idea how to respond to Marvel’s story or what was going on. He couldn’t even begin to fathom what was going through the minds of the Justice League members.
Billy (after a long pause, trying to salvage the situation, laughing in his mind):
"So, uh... I’m... your kid now?"
Captain Marvel (grinning, patting Billy on the back):
"That’s right! We’ve got this whole family thing going on. You’re gonna be great at it, I’m sure."
Billy could only shake his head, half-laughing at the absurdity of it all. But Marvel’s confidence was unwavering, and for whatever reason, the Justice League seemed to accept the story with little more than a few raised eyebrows.
Superman (giving Billy a warm but confused smile):
"Well, Billy, welcome to the world, I suppose. You’ve got a... unique story."
Billy (shrugging, still trying to come to terms with the situation, a sheepish smile on his face):
"Yeah, I guess. Uh, nice to meet you all."
The Justice League collectively nodded, still unsure of what to make of Marvel’s dramatic proclamation, but they moved on, accepting the situation—for the moment.
Billy sighed softly, glancing at Marvel, who was practically glowing with pride and mischief. Despite the confusion, part of him couldn’t help but laugh. The absurdity of it all was overwhelming, but somehow, they had pulled it off. For now, the secret of their shared identity was safe—and Marvel’s wild tale had somehow convinced everyone that Billy was his "magical child."
And with their connection still intact they had little to worry about other than the league.
*After leaving the watch tower, In his head*
Hercules (laughing hysterically): "Thavma… *wheeze* HAHAHA YEAH I wonder how long they will believe this, MANNN you guys are one in the same, he's your host alright HAHAHA, "
Solomon (huff of tiredness): “We should probably get you guys out of there before they ask too many questions.”
Achilles (sarcastic and sharp, like a playful brother): " Ha! Yeah who knows how long Thavma can keep up lying”
Billy (sigh) “HHHAAaa, Guys you think they will try and look into me now, Batman had to of started to track my face of something”
Thamva (mischievously speaks): “Hehhe, stop thinking so much your poor baby brain can't handle that much thinking.”
Billy “UGH,, OMGG SHUT UPPP”
Thamva (Gasp): “That's no way to speak to your father young man !” “Hehehhehehe” Both laugh
