Rauru had dropped everything when he heard Zelda scream. He had known about her and Sonia's plan. They had told him of Ganondorf's deceit and he hadn't been worried. Now though as he ran through the halls he couldn't help but wonder if he should have been.
Coming to the balcony, Rauru saw his worst nightmare. His queen, his Sonia, was on the ground not moving while Zelda was frantically trying to protect her from Ganondorf.
“Ganondorf,” Rauru roared, running to Sonia, “what have you done!”
“Your reign is over Rauru,” the demon said smirking, “I have an army to summon.” Ganondorf turned his back to them before summoning a portal, “and you have a wife to bury.”
Walking into the red and black portal Ganondorf was gone before Rauru could even comprehend what he said. Behind him he heard Zelda crying and Sonia's broken voice brought him back to reality, “R-rarau,” she forced out, reaching up to him.
In an instant Rauru was on his knees holding onto her fragile hand. “I'm here my love,” he whispered, kissing her hand. “Whatever you need. I'll do it. You can't leave me yet my love.”
“Zelda go, run to the medics and bring them here. Now,” he ordered.
Zelda hesitated before standing up and running to shout for the court doctors. Rauru didn’t pay her any attention though looking back down to his wife. She was trying to smile for him but they both knew.
“My love I'm so sorry,” Rauru whispered, tears blurring his vision. “I should've been here. I should've listened. I should have,” he said before she cut him off.
"It's alright my love,” she said softly, pain lacing her voice. “It's time to let go.”
“My love, my queen, my Sonia, I will not let go. I'm never letting go.”
