Polyship Week Day 6: Tight Squeeze

Work Text:

Many things changed after that accident, and at the same time, things didn’t feel as different from before.

With Momo becoming Yuki’s new partner, Banri used that chance to follow his newfound interests and become their manager. As expected for a small group like them, it wasn’t easy, but Banri was used to it from his time singing with Yuki—and not having to share his attention and time with practicing, things were much less hectic than when he was still an idol.

As he thought, Momo had been the right choice to sing in his place. He was still a little shy and insecure, but also very sweet and hard-working. In no time, he could sing and dance as if he had done it his entire life, and his friendly personality made him easy to like. Not only that, but no one could control Yuki’s bad personality like Momo… It even made Banri a little jealous: if he had that kind of power, his life with Yuki would have been much easier.

To be honest, it didn’t take long for Banri to fall for him, just like Yuki did. It was strange… He and Yuki had been together for two years, and yet, neither of them thought it weird, as if having those feelings for Momo was the most natural thing—something they simply couldn’t avoid.

After some consideration, they decided to tell Momo about their feelings. Momo was shocked at first, and, to their surprise, immediately started to cry. I’m so happy, he had said between sobs, just as Banri and Yuki started to panic.

And, since that day, the three of them were connected in an even deeper way than before. As time went by, Momo became more confident, Yuki became more mellow, and Banri liked to believe that he too had grown, just like those two—as a manager and as a man. They were good for each other, and Banri wouldn’t have it any other way.

The next day, Re:vale would have a live show in another city, and they would have to spend the night in a hotel. With their limited funds, Banri had to reserve a single bedroom with three beds for them. It wasn’t the most luxurious accommodation, but it was comfortable and fairly cheap.

Things were supposed to go smoothly… But of course they didn’t—they never did.

Banri walked away from the reception desk with a mortified expression as he looked at those two. “I… I think I’ve made a mistake.”

“What?” asked Yuki. “Is our bedroom already taken?”

Banri shook his head. “No, not that. The room is ours.”

“What is it then?” To his surprise, an amused smile took Momo’s lips. “Don’t tell me there’s only one bed.”

Banri didn’t answer, but felt his face get a little hotter. Momo and Yuki stared at him.

“Wait…” Momo widened his eyes. “Really?”

Banri sighed. Momo and Yuki exchanged a glance; in the next moment, Momo was laughing while Yuki shook his head in disbelief.

“I’m sorry,” said Banri.

Momo lightly patted his back. “It’s fine, it’s fine. It’s just funny… It’s like we’re suddenly in a romance manga.”

“I will cut your salary, manager,” said Yuki.

Banri creased his brow. “What salary?”

But he knew it had been his mistake, so he couldn’t even complain. More importantly, he had to find a way to fix the situation.

“I’ll talk to them right now, and get another room,” he said.

“Why, though?” asked Momo. “We’re used to sharing a bed already.”

“Yes, but I’m sure that bed isn’t big enough for three people.” Banri paused briefly. “Besides, there could be rumors…”

Yuki shrugged. “You worry too much.”

“Yeah,” Momo agreed. “But I get it. If it’ll make things easier, we can just get another room.”

Yuki agreed, and Banri returned to the reception desk to sort things out.

There wasn’t another room.

Banri swore to himself he would triple-check things next time. Once inside the bedroom, with one single bed staring back at them, the three of them looked at each other, unsure of what to say for a moment.

“So…” said Yuki. “What do we do?”

“You two share the bed,” said Banri. “It was my mistake, so I’ll sleep on the floor.”

Momo widened his eyes. “No way I’ll let Ban sleep on the floor! You and Yuki can share the bed.”

Banri shook his head. “You’re the one who’s going to sing tomorrow. What if you catch a cold, or hurt your back?”

“But—”

“You need to think more about yourself,” Banri added in a serious voice. “You’re a member of Re:vale, and need to prioritize your health for the sake of your partner and your fans.”

Momo puffed his cheeks, clearly unhappy, but without a good retort. Yuki observed their argument for a while, before finally speaking.

“I think the bed is big enough for us,” he said, gesturing toward the bed. “If we place it against the wall, then the one on that end won’t fall.”

“Yeah!” Momo opened a wide smile, forgetting all about his sulking. “Ban is the biggest one, so he can lie on this end and serve as another wall.”

Banri raised an eyebrow. “I’m a wall…?”

“Sounds good,” Yuki agreed, ignoring his words. “Momo is the smallest one, so he can stay in the middle.”

Momo beamed, raising both hands high. “Yay!”

Apparently, those two had decided everything without hearing his opinion. Banri should be used to that: it was far from the first time they joined forces against him.

It was already late, so they soon got ready to go to sleep. Banri couldn’t help but stare at that single bed: it wouldn’t be a comfortable night, for sure… Soon, however, his thoughts were interrupted by the feeling of a hand on his shoulder.

“Are you still sulking?” asked Yuki.

Momo giggled, hugging Banri’s arm. “It’s fine, Ban… There’s enough space for the three of us there.”

With a resigned sigh, Banri moved to bed with them. As he thought, it was quite a tight fit, and he feared he would wake up on the floor the next morning.

“If you’re uncomfortable, just tell me…” he said. “I’ll go someplace else.”

“No,” said Yuki.

“Yeah, no,” Momo agreed.

“You two…”

Before he could say anything else, however, Momo hugged him, pressing his face against his chest, letting out a pleased giggle.

“I’m in heaven…” he said.

“Heaven is very small,” said Yuki, hugging Momo from behind. “But I don’t really mind it…”

Banri held back a small, amused laugh. It was just like Yuki and Momo to find something good in any situation just by being together. Banri never said it out loud, but he loved it about them—actually, he loved everything about those two, including every single detail and all their many flaws. And that was one of the reasons why he wanted to be there for them, to offer support and help them achieve the success they so much deserved.

Besides, Yuki was right: the bed was a little crowded, sure, but it wasn’t bad… It wasn’t bad at all.
