Work Text:
“I want a refund” is the first thing that crossed Sasuke’s mind. Honestly, what did he expect when he found random fuinjutsu scrolls inside his Mother’s secret safe. Labelled “In case of emergency. Tehee”. By your best friend, Kushina.
Listen, He’s a top student in the academy. He already knows the wild nature and danger of Seals. But sometimes he had to admit that he let his curiosity win and it brought him to situations like this.
What’s most likely a random Deity is currently in front of him and he can feel that this Being is not pleased being summoned here. No physical form yet, he doesn't know whether to be happy or scared about it. He doesn't even want to describe the ominous feelings that fill the room.
Realising that he shouldn't ask for trouble, he quickly averts his eyes, looking down to the floor. Wait a minute, this is not his usual tatami floor. He blinks several times and his floor is still being flooded with gold coloured liquid. Where did that comes from. And would you look at that? The wall around him is also becoming more and more contoured. Darkness and all of that Jazz. He’s pretty sure he’s losing his mind.
The so-called Deity stares at him.
Not like the physical stares, it leans towards the idea of a Higher Being putting all of their attention on you, kind of stares. If his danger metre is already high before now it’s definitely through the roof. He could feel something was happening. And well, it does happen.
All of his important memories are being displayed in front of him. The moment where his mother read him bedtime stories, the day where he showed his Father the Great Fireball jutsu, all of the time his cousin Shisui played with him next to the Nara River and … the time he spent training with that man. And most importantly, the Death Day, as he called it in his head. The day when everything goes wrong. One year ago .
A voice manifested inside his head. Sasuke would like to stop whatever’s happening right now. He’s not vibing at all.
“ Uchiha Sasuke .” The Deity speaks. It makes him regret ever finding that particular sealing scroll. After this he swears on his Father’s secret sake stash he would never touch random sealing scrolls again.
Ah who's he lying to. This is the most interesting thing that happens to him since Death Day.
“ Tell me, why do you call for me ”
“Well, about that…” He tries to speak once more but only a few words left his mouth. What will happen here if he make a mistake? There’s a chance for him to get cursed or more commonly in a situation like this, for his soul to be reaped.
'So this is how things will end .' Sasuke think to himself. Maybe his parents won't be disappointed that he fails to kill that man. Instead they’ll be ashamed that their son somehow managed to die in the hand of a Deity that he called accidentally. Accidentally.
He can only hope this Deity is kind enough to let him pass to Pure land. He heard enough horror stories about souls being butchered after doing botched rituals. Forever denied by the Pure Land. He doubts that there's a hospital for botched souls.
The Deity still stares at him. Sasuke swears that even if he can't see Its physical form he can feel that the Deity just did something equivalent to a heavy sigh. Excuse me, He’s the one who's supposed to sigh in this situation.
“ I can't believe I'm even considering doing this .”
And with just that sentences all the things around him change once more. Back to his parents' old room. Wall and tatami floor back in place with nothing out of ordinary. Except for one thing.
In front of him, stand a man unlike anything he has seen before. Tall, dark brown skin, white hair and Golden eyes shining. Clothes fit well into its body, something that resembles cape and suits. He also wears a lot of jewellery, golden rings on almost all of his fingers, complicated designs on his necklaces and bracelets, earrings with expensive stones in it. He looks like a wealthy merchant instead of a Deity. A hissing sound can be heard from the man's right hand's sleeve before a small snake peeks its head out, looking curious.
Sasuke blinks several times. What the hell just happened . He thinks to himself.
He stares at the Deity, the Deity stares at him. The snake is still hissing happily. “Please wait here for a few minutes.” He utters to the Deity and proceed to leave the room.
Sasuke’s body went on auto pilot and starts preparing some tea. Leaving the suspicious man in his parents room. As he watches the water boiling he starts giggling, his mother definitely managed to teach manners to him if the first thing he does after that mess is prepare tea for his accidental guest.
Not long after that thought, the kettle emits the high pitched sound, he uses one of his expensive tea leaves, from his Mother’s collection, and finished preparing the drink.
He brings it back to his parents room where the guest is still in. And lo and behold, it looks like the said person has been entertaining himself with the assortments of books and sealing scrolls in the room. Have he mentioned that the book is levitating and flipping the pages by itself? The white scaled snake has moved itself to the man's neck, adorning it like one of the expensive jewellery, not that the man needs more to add to his body. The room itself is full with low level thrumming energy, something that Sasuke can't decipher.
Sasuke put the tea trays on the table and sat down on the opposite side from his guest And with that the Deity looked up to him and back down to the scrolls, up and down, up and down. The snake copied his movement. He’s being tempted to hold the man's head so it will stop moving.
“Did you really call me here by accident?” The disbelief in his voice is really clear. the man speaks to him like he’s a toddler who accidentally opened the tamatebako box from the Dragon Palace. Excuse him,he’s better and smarter than Urashima Taro.
“What else do you think happening in this room” There might be some sarcasm in his voice but who could fault him. Accidental summoning and getting judged for it is not in his today's to-do list. This really shapes up into his second worst day in his life however interesting this is.
His Guest just looked at him with deadpan eyes and sighs. One point for Sasuke, he added happily in his mind. “Alright, let’s just get this over with. We’ll start with what wish do you have in mind” The man still sitting down on the floor, looking back at the book that he's holding. Waiting for Sasuke to answer his question.
In a heartbeat he answers, “Could you revive my family and clan members from death please?”
the Deity stares at him full of judgement. The snake let out patterned hissing close to a laughter should be.
What? He asked! Might as well take advantage of it. Knowing his Father, he will probably be disappointed by the lack of subtlety but his Mother will be very amused, hiding her smile behind her hand and Shisui will laugh so hard he won't be able to stand anymore. Impressive Sasuke-chan! His voice can be heard in his mind.
“Unless you want empty bodies walking around, I'll suggest you think of something else. Has no one taught you souls that already departed cannot be contained in the living world anymore?” there's a condescending tone in those sentences.
“Then what can You do?” What the heck even are you . Sasuke can’t really keep the confusion and demand from his voice.
the Deity seems to be thinking for a second, “Well, this.” He gestures at himself and Sasuke. "Is not my usual line of work, I run a government of a realm consisting of fallen angels, weird creatures, and tortured souls of sinners." amusement radiates from the white haired man. The small snake nods its head, agreeing with what the man said.
"Like a hokage then." Sasuke says out loud. What the heck is fallen angels. No scratch that, tortured souls of sinners?? That one he knows but he wishes he doesn’t.
"Indeed. Like your hokage." The man glanced to one side of the wall. To the direction of the hokage head sculptures . Sasuke's mind supplied helpfully. "We got a bit distracted here. Making a deal with humans is usually a low ranker's work. Lucky for you, I do not mind doing small jobs here and there." The Deity's attention went back to him.
"Since this whole thing is accidental and my niece will be sad if I just took advantage of you. I'll be nice and help you throughout this whole wish granting thing, alright?" The Deity watches him, waiting for an answer. Sasuke quickly nodded his head. "I will grant your wish depending on what you're willing to pay instead of the usual 'everything you own' thing. I'll even tell you if it's going to work or not"
Sasuke blinks several times, he- he forgot about that part. He needs to prepare a payment or sacrifice, doesn't he? “I could offer you all of Uchiha Clan’s treasury?" He tried to offer. the Deity shakes his head, clearly not interested. "I'm afraid I have no need for riches. Try again."
Sasuke tries to remember all of the spirit and gods stories that his grandma told him. What do spirits and gods usually want. All that he could remember is mostly food and money offerings, sometimes woman or man to be a bride. He scrunch up his nose, not sure if it's going to work.
"I could marry you when I'm older?" He answered hesitantly.
"No, Non, Nein, Nada, First, I am not in the market for a child bride. Second, I already have a life partner and our marriage is going well." The Deity suddenly looks around, seeming afraid that someone is listening to this conversation. The snake is back on hissing-laughing fit, well at least one of them is enjoying this whole debacle.
"I'm sorry" He apologised, secretly feeling relieved. No marriage with suspicious Deity is always a good thing in his book.
The white haired man waves his hand. "No worries, just think about it for a second." He said as he scratched the snake's head. Looking at it in exasperated fondness.
Minutes pass before Sasuke realises that he's doing this whole thing wrong. He needs to decide what he wants first then match that offer. The man said that he's leading a realm full of souls right? He probably would accept another one.
Sasuke coughs into his hand, trying to mask his nervousness.
"I will offer you my soul"
The silence in the room feels heavy. Now that he has uttered it there’s no way of taking it back. the Deity looks at him, gone the friendly but confident man, golden eyes stares blankly at him. It makes him even more nervous but he needs to push through. For his clan .
“And in exchange I want you to make the person who ruined my entire clan suffer forever in life and death ”
Death is not enough for that man . Why should he get the easy way out? And if what this Deity said about tortured sinners souls is true that means that man could get eternity of suffering and it's what he deserved.
Sasuke shifts his legs, so far what the Deity does is stares at him blankly. It's getting really awkward. Not long after, The man let out a little laugh, Sasuke could feel his face getting hotter by the minute.
"Well, it seems that this would be interesting. I'd allow that." The white haired man finally stands from the floor. Books and scrolls are now being put down and arranged neatly. Looking down on Sasuke.
Sasuke can’t explain it but he could feel chakra- or magic, around him, surrounding both of them. The man is watching him intently, before uttering in language that he doesn't understand. He then proceeded to give him his hand to shake. With all of his confidence, Sasuke shakes his hand. The snake happily sways its tails still wrapped on the man's neck.
And with that established, he could feel the bond between him and the mysterious Deity. "What should I call you?" He wonders out loud, only realising that fact after the man patted his head.
"Well you could call me Azazel for now and this little fella is Eve"
Azazeru and Ibu what a weird name.
Sasuke is now standing with a Deity in his room that has agreed to help him with his revenge. Now what?
“So, Azazeru-san.”
The man makes a pained face.
“Just Aza is fine." Sasuke could hear the man mutter about humans butchering his name to his snake, which Sasuke politely ignored. It's not his fault that the Deity has a weird name that's hard to pronounce.
“Aza-sama, Please let me know when you start on-” Sasuke randomly gestures his hands around the room. “The whole wish granting part.”
Aza looks at him with a fondness, he feels like the Deity is comparing him with another child that he know. Big chance that it’s his niece. It’s probably a good thing honestly, to be compared with someone that the Deity thinks fondly of.
A huge yawn interrupted his thought. And just now he feels tired, as if someone steals all of his energy.
“Now, now. It’s been a long day for a kid your age. You must be feeling tired. The deal uses both of the participant's energy and yours is low at the moment.” Aza-san ushers him out of the room as if he’s been living here longer than Sasuke ever did. Another thing to question for the man later.
He let out another huge yawn.
Aza joins him in his room. It looks a bit funny, Sasuke thinks. The guy looks out of place in his traditional house no matter what the room is. He's really tall, wears expensive suits and jewerlies, speaks as if he's better than everyone in the room, and basically looks like the polar opposite of a typical Uchiha with dark brown skin and White hairs instead of pale skin and black hairs. He might need to lend the guy his father's clothes so he'll fit better in Konoha. Oh and there's identity problem too, maybe he could have magicked the papers? He snickers to himself before going into his bed.
"Alright you problem child. Go to sleep and we will scheme later. I'll be around in another room if you need me." Sasuke could hear the amused fondness in his voice. His golden eyes emit a soft light, combined with the deep voice and the bask of afternoon light on the Deity. It makes the Deity figure feel more like benevolent Deity instead of the Brain Melting Cosmic Horror one from earlier. He prefers this version, thank you very much.
"Promise we will ruin that man?" Sasuke hates that his voice sounds small and unsure. But this is the first time he feels like that his clan will actually get the justice that they deserved.
"Yeah, we'll bring down Shimura Danzo by the end of the week."
"Who?"
