Chapter Text
The Rangers approached the stage running, before they started hearing Adam and Aisha squawking. They then saw the cages. (Sophie was on Kimberly’s right.)
“Look!” Kimberly pointed. “Adam, Aisha!”
“Shhh!” Billy shushed her. “They probably can’t answer you.”
“This has gotta be another trap.” Tommy deduced.
“What do we do?” Rocky asked.
“Well, I’d say the best thing to do is to spring the trap and see what happens.” Billy replied.
“Agreed.” Tommy said. “You guys back us up, Billy and I will go in.”
“Copy that, Tommy.” Sophie acknowledged.
Tommy and Billy then made their way to the cages, while Adam and Aisha continued to squawk.
“Hey chill out, guys.” Tommy assured. “It’s us.”
“What is with them? Billy wondered, as the others shrugged their shoulders.
“Hollow!” Adam squawked.
“Sound!” Aisha squawked.
“I don’t get it.” Tommy muttered.
“Hollow!” Adam repeated.
“Sound!” Aisha repeated, as the others came up onstage.
They then heard footsteps, as the Hollow Monster started walking onstage.
“What’s that sound?” Rocky asked.
“I’ve got a bad feeling about this.” Kimberly said.
“You’re not the only one, Kim.” Sophie admitted.
Kimberly then saw the Hollow Monster walking towards them.
“Look!” She cried, pointing at Hollow Monster.
“Hollow!” Adam squawked again.
“Sound!” Aisha echoed.
Tommy then brought out Saba.
“Why do they keep repeating the same words?” He inquired.
“I don’t know.” Tommy told him.
“Have you asked them?” Asked Saba.
“Asked them? How?” Tommy wondered.
“That’s right.” Saba realized. “None of you speaks bird. Take me over to the cages.”
Tommy did what Saba told him and then put him in close enough to hear.
“Uh, Squawk, Squawk, Tweet, Squawk, Tweet?” Saba translated, as the others tried to fight Hollow Monster. Rocky tried to punch it, but it had no effect.
“Right.” Saba understood, as Tommy pulled him back.
“What did she say?” Kimberly asked.
“She said that the monster is hollow and that loud sound can reverberate inside him and break him apart.” Saba explained.
“What? So all we need is a lot of noise?” Billy asked.
“Yeah. All right, guys. Rocky, Soph, and I will keep old kettlehead busy while you two muster up as much noise as you can.” Tommy told Billy and Kimberly, who nodded. “Saba, remember that warning you asked me for?”
“Yes. Consider me dually morphed.” Saba sighed.
Tommy then joined Rocky and Sophie in fighting Hollow Monster, while Kimberly and Billy faced the audience.
“All right, kids. We need your help.” Kimberly said. “On the count of three, we need you to make as much noise as you can.”
“Shout out as loud as you can, and help us defeat the monster.” Billy told them. “Are you ready?” He then started counting. “One, two, three!”
The audience started screaming, as Hollow Monster began to shake. Rocky stopped punching Hollow Monster as it began to break apart, then Tommy grabbed a hand and pulled it off.
“That’s it!” Tommy shouted, encouraging the audience to keep shouting.
Sophie removed an arm, then Rocky kicked off the head while Tommy removed the other arm. After a few minutes, Hollow Monster was finished, and the Rangers gathered in center stage as the audience stopped shouting. (Sophie was on Kimberly’s left.)
“All right, we did it, boys and girls!” Tommy said. “Give yourselves a big hand.”
The audience then applauded.
“Not much to this guy, was there?” Billy asked.
“He fell completely apart.” Rocky remarked, holding an arm.
“And to think, if it weren’t for…” Kimberly began, before noticing the cages were gone. “Adam? Aisha?”
“Oh, no.” Sophie muttered.
“They’re gone!” Rocky gasped.
“Yeah, but where?” Billy asked.
“Did any of you see where they went?” Rocky asked the audience.
The audience pointed to stage right.
“Where did they go?” Kimberly asked, putting a hand to her ear. “Where?”
“Did Goldar and the Putties take them?” Billy asked.
“Are you sure it was them?” Tommy asked.
“I think they said ‘yes,’ Tommy.” Sophie confirmed.
Squatt then peered out from behind a rock.
“Goldar must’ve taken them back to Zedd’s cave.” Tommy realized.
“The question is, how do we get in there?” Billy wondered.
They then heard a noise, as Squatt moved the rock upstage.
“What was that?” Rocky asked.
The audience then pointed to the rock.
“Hey, over there. That rock moved.” Billy observed.
The Rangers then got behind the rock and pulled Squatt out from behind it.
“Well, look who we have here.” Kimberly said, jokingly.
“We have ourselves a spy.” Sophie joked.
“Gotcha, Squatt.” Tommy said as he came out.
“Goldar left you out, huh?” Billy guessed.
“Uh-huh.” Squatt nodded.
“Well, all you have to do is tell us to get inside Lord Zedd’s cave, and we’ll let you go.” Tommy told him.
Squatt shook his head. “Nuh-uh! Never! I don’t know where the cave is.” He protested. “And how do you know he even has a cave? And even if he does have a cave, the doors, will be locked, and there is no key!”
“I think we can use this to our advantage.” Sophie whispered to the others, as they followed Squatt offstage.
Inside the news room, the words Special Bulletin appeared on the screen, as Keith got up from under the desk.
“Once again, this is Keith Devin with a News Central update and continuing coverage of the space alien crisis.” He reported. “The attacks on downtown and other parts of the city have finally stopped, thanks to the efforts of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.”
The screen beside him showed the Rangers standing together. (Sophie was on Adam’s left). It then showed Lord Zedd standing with his arms raised.
“However, Lord Zedd’s cave is still intact, and he can resume his attack at any time.” Keith continued. “That is, unless the Power Rangers can force him to leave. We can only hope our superheroes are working on a way to save us all from Lord Zedd. Hopefully, we’ll be back at any moment.”
(Onstage)
After half an hour of walking, Squatt had led the Rangers to the entrance of Lord Zedd’s cave. They then emerged from stage right and walked towards the door. (Sophie was on Kimberly’s left.)
“No, no, no!” Squatt objected as they reached the door. “I’m not telling you anything.”
“Come on, Squatt, open the door.” Kimberly begged sweetly. “Pretty please?”
She then started tickling him, making him giggle.
“Ooh! Stop!” He laughed. “That tickles.”
“Forget it, then.” Saba sighed. “You see, I’ve already figured out how to enter this disgusting place.”
“Ooh! That’s impossible.” Squatt said. “When the doors are closed, they open only for the evil subjects of Lord Zedd.”
“All those who think evil thoughts…” Saba thought out loud. “So that leaves you out because you can’t even think.”
“Whoa!” Squatt exclaimed. “I can too, think! Just watch.”
He then put his hands on his head and started thinking really hard.
“What is he doing?” Sophie asked.
Squatt then turned around as the door opened, before falling flat on his back.
“Hey, it worked!” Sophie said.
“Nice going, Saba.” Tommy complimented, before turning to Squatt. “Thanks, Squatt.” He then turned to the others. “All right, Rangers. Let’s go get our friends.”
“What about Squatt?” Kimberly asked.
“I don’t think we need to worry about him anymore, Kim.” Sophie said.
“Yeah, he’s harmless.” Billy agreed. “Let’s go!”
He then followed the others into the cave. As soon as the door closed, Squatt got back up.
“They didn’t think I could think!” He said to the audience. “But I showed those Power Rangers once and for all! I used my head good! I thought as bad as anybody could be…” He paused. “I think.”
He then taunted the Rangers behind their backs before walking off stage right. Inside the cave, the Rangers cautiously approached Lord Zedd’s throne. (Sophie was on Tommy’s right.)
“Would you get a load of this place?” Rocky asked.
“I just want to find Adam and Aisha and get out of here, because this place really gives me the creeps.” Kimberly admitted, shuddering.
“Me too!” Sophie admitted.
They then heard creaking, which caught Billy’s attention.
“What was that?” He asked.
“In the wall, back here!” Tommy pointed, making his way towards the throne, before the Rangers heard squawking.
“Did you hear that?” Rocky asked. “That must be them!”
“Adam and Aisha!” Sophie hoped.
“Let’s go get them, but keep your eyes open and your senses alert.” Tommy advised. “Zedd could be anywhere in here.”
The others nodded, then followed Tommy out of the room. As soon as they left, Squatt and Baboo approached the throne with the Putties. Lord Zedd then emerged and rose from his throne.
“Excellent!” He said happily. “Everything is going according to my plan. We have them exactly where we want them.”
“Did I do good, Lord Zedd?” Squatt asked. “Did I do good?” He then realized what he said. “Uh, I mean bad, I mean-”
“For once, you did what you were told to do.” Lord Zedd told him. “An amazing feat for someone as brainless as you.”
“Thanks, Lord Zedd!” Squatt said proudly, before realizing what he said. “Uh, I think?”
“Now, to have a bit more fun with them before I turn them into tree frogs.” Lord Zedd declared, as Goldar reappeared onstage next to him. “Goldar! Take a platoon of Putties down into the lower cave and confront the Rangers. Give them a good fight. I want them nice and warmed up for their final battle.”
“As you wish.” Goldar nodded, before turning to the Putties. “Putties! Follow me!”
The Putties then followed Goldar offstage.
“Finally. After so many disappointments, the Power Rangers will be no more.” Lord Zedd mulled. “What a day! What a gloriously evil day!” He cheered, before he laughed.
A while later, the Rangers had entered via stage left, and were slowly making their way through the lower caves. (Sophie was between Tommy and Rocky.)
“This doesn’t look right.” Tommy sighed, holding Saba. “We should’ve turned at the last fork in the cave.”
“I’m sure, this is the way.” Billy assured.
“I’m sorry Tommy, but I agree with Blue Ranger.” Saba admitted.
“Yeah, there was no other way we could go.” Sophie agreed.
“Well, I’m sure we’re on the right path.” Kimberly said.
“How can you be sure?” Rocky asked, as the door opened behind them.
“Look!” Kimberly yelled, pointing.
They then saw Goldar standing near Lord Zedd’s throne and Putties surrounding the bottom of it.
“Goldar!” Sophie gasped.
“Putties, attack!” Goldar ordered.
The Rangers then began fighting the Putties. Rocky jumped and landed behind two as they tried to grab him by the arms, while Sophie kicked another in the chest. Kimberly then blocked one’s chop and punched it back, as Billy kneed another in the chest and chopped in down. Tommy then jumped and split kicked another two, as Rocky jumped over another two, then Billy punched and chopped a third.
“Putties, withdraw!” Goldar ordered, making the Putties fall back, confusing the Rangers. “Let the Rangers make their fight in the heart of the dungeon!”
The Putties then brought out the cages again. Tommy and Rocky circled around one, while Billy, Kimberly, and Sophie circled around another. The aliens then appeared beside Goldar.
“The friends you seek are here, and here is where you shall stay, forever!” Goldar said. “Cowering before the power of Zedd.”
“Rangers don’t cower, tinhead!” Tommy spat. “Where is old Zedd anyway?”
“He is all around you, Ranger!” Goldar laughed. “All around you!”
The Rangers then heard Lord Zedd laughing, before turning around. A large explosion then made them fall back, landing on center stage. (Sophie was on Billy’s left.)
“Woe to you who battles with my power!” Lord Zedd gloated. “My final victory is at hand!”
“Cut the speeches, Zedd!” Tommy snapped. “We want our friends back now!”
“Why, you arrogant little ant!” Lord Zedd sneered. “It’s time you were squashed.”
The Rangers then turned around to see Lord Zedd, who had now made himself a giant.
“Your time as Power Rangers is about to come to a close!” Lord Zedd laughed.
“I’ve never seen Lord Zedd that big before.” Sophie gulped.
“We gotta call the Zords!” Tommy said.
“No!” Saba suddenly said. “Zedd’s magic is too strong here for you to penetrate with your signal. In other words, we’re on our own.”
“What else can we do?” Sophie asked.
“What about our Power Coins?” Billy suggested.
“Insufficient power without help.” Saba replied.
“Help? What kind of help?” Tommy asked.
“If we could reflect some of Zedd’s energy back at him, we could break his hold on this place.” Saba explained.
“I know exactly what to do.” Billy said, before facing the audience. “All of you out there with a spot reflector, when we tell you to, hold it up and point the mirror side towards us.”
The audience reached under their seats.
“Let’s show Zedd evil doesn’t stand a chance when friends work together to stop it.”
The audience then brought out some miniature mirrors and held them up towards the Rangers.
“Now Power Rangers, now you see the true power of my evil magic!” Lord Zedd snarled. “With it, I now surround you, and with it, I will crush you and your feathered friends!”
“Not happening!” Sophie spat, as Lord Zedd laughed.
“All right, we need the extra power now!” Saba said.
The Rangers then faced the audience.
“It’s time! Hold up your reflectors.” Kimberly told them. “Reflect the light back to Zedd!”
“Let’s give Zedd a taste of his own medicine!” Sophie called.
“Hold them up, everyone!” Billy instructed. “We need more light!”
“More light! More light! More light! More light!” The Rangers chanted.
“Hey, It’s working!” Sophie cheered, as Lord Zedd began to feel the effects of the light being shone back at him.
“No! What are you doing?!” He moaned. “No! It can’t be!”
“More light! More light! More light!” The Rangers chanted.
“My magic!” Lord Zedd realized, getting weaker. “It’s weakening.”
“Tommy, focus his energy toward the back of the cave.” Billy said to him.
“More light! More light! More light!” The Rangers chanted.
“No! No!” Lord Zedd screamed. “Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!”
“We almost got him!” Tommy said. “But we need more power.”
“More light! More light! More light! More light!” The Rangers chanted.
Lord Zedd started to get even weaker.
“Just a little more!” Sophie said.
“More light! More light! More light! More light!” The Rangers chanted.
Lord Zedd now started to shrink.
“Everybody, don’t give up!” Billy told the audience. “Use your voices. Louder!”
“More light! More light! More light!” The audience chanted.
Lord Zedd kept on shrinking.
“Come on, you can do it!” Kimberly cheered.
“More light! More light! More light!” The Rangers and audience chanted together.
“Keep shouting!” Rocky said, jumping down. “More light! More light! More light!”
Lord Zedd shrunk even more.
“More light! More light! More light!” The Rangers and audience chanted.
“Tommy, now!” Sophie called out.
“Right. Tiger Power, now!” Tommy shouted.
He then turned around and slashed Lord Zedd with Saba, breaking his spell and making him shrink back down to normal. Billy then walked over to Adam’s cage and opened it, while Kimberly opened Aisha’s cage. The two then stepped out, now back to normal.
“Yeah!” Sophie cheered, as Tommy and Rocky gave each other a thumbs up. Adam then walked over to Tommy and high-fived him.
“Boy, are we glad to see you.” Kimberly said, relieved.
“Yeah, we thought two you were goners.” Sophie admitted.
“You took the words right out of my beak, uh mouth.” Adam corrected.
“Let’s do it, guys!” Tommy said. “We got a job to finish.”
“Right!” The others nodded.
Goldar and the Putties then reappeared onstage.
“Get them!” Goldar ordered.
The Rangers then began fighting the Putties. Kimberly kicked one in the chest while Adam rolled over another. Rocky then grabbed one by the arm and spun it around, and then Sophie did the same thing. Tommy, Kimberly, and Billy then did a backflip, before tripping up three Putties that were running towards them. Kimberly then dodged one, before kicking it in the chest, while Aisha ducked under one before kicking it as well. Tommy then dodged a punch from one as Rocky did the same, then all the Rangers closed in on Goldar. (Sophie was between Kimberly and Aisha.) Before they could get to him, however, the cave started to collapse, making them run back down the steps. The aliens then reappeared onstage as the Rangers began to fight them. (Sophie was on Tommy’s left.) The first one blocked both Adam and Rocky’s attacks, while Tommy spun Saba around at the second one. After a few tense minutes, the aliens disappeared. Lord Zedd then appeared on the video screen, sitting on his throne back in his palace on the Moon.
“You may have driven me back to the Moon this time, but I’ll be back.” Lord Zedd warned, clutching his fist. “By the stars, I will be back!” He promised, before laughing.
Tommy’s communicator then beeped, and he put it up to his mouth.
“Come in, Zordon.” He answered.
(The Command Center)
Zordon appeared inside his energy tube.
“Congratulations, Power Rangers.” He congratulated. “You have once again achieved the impossible.
“Lord Zedd has indeed returned to his palace on the Moon.” Alpha explained. “And boy, is he mad.”
(Onstage)
The Rangers smiled upon hearing the good news.
“Well, we couldn’t have done it without all of you.” Kimberly said to the audience.
“Thanks to you, Earth is safe again.” Sophie told them.
“Yeah, thanks guys.” Billy thanked.
“Give yourself a big hand!” Tommy said. “You deserve it.”
The audience then applauded at the Rangers.
“We were pretty scared there.” Aisha admitted.
“Thanks for not giving up on us.” Adam told Rocky.
“What are friends for?” Rocky replied as the three of them high-fived. “And Saba, you speak great bird.”
“Well… I supposed I’ve always had a talent for languages.” Saba blushed.
Tommy then put Saba away, as the Rangers heard the alarm go off.
(The Command Center)
Alpha was carrying around another piece of paper.
“Ai-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi!” He exclaimed. “Zedd has begun another problem in Angel Grove! I’m afraid you must go.”
(Onstage)
“A Power Ranger’s work is never done.” Sophie sighed.
“Well, no rest for the weary.” Tommy admitted. “Come on, Rangers. Let’s go!”
“Bye!” Kimberly waved to the audience. “Thanks for everything.”
The audience started to wave goodbye to the Rangers.
“And don’t forget to be good.” Aisha told them.
“Be kind!” Adam called out.
“Help out others!” Billy added.
“Be a good friend.” Sophie chimed in.
“And always try to do the right thing.” Rocky finished.
“All right, Rangers.” Tommy said. “Let’s go. Back to action!”
They then pressed their belts, and teleported back to Angel Grove as the show draws to a close.
