Work Text:
It starts in her second trimester, and Tim’s not really sure how to handle it. Lucy is needy, and not just in a I want you now kind of way but in a way that has all her emotions coming out in full force.
“Tim.” She calls from the bedroom, Tim sighs and peeks his head out with his toothbrush in his mouth.
“Yes?”
“When are you coming to bed?” Lucy asks. She moves a little on the bed, and then turns on her side so she’s facing him.
Tim pulls the toothbrush out of his mouth, and gives her a smile. “I will be there in a minute Luce.” He reassures her. Lucy pouts and Tim goes back into the bathroom, finishes brushing his teeth and then heads back out to Lucy.
“You took too long.” She says still pouting. Tim blows out a breath and climbs into bed, and in an instant Lucy is attached to him. She curls herself around him, slotting her legs in between his. And despite her growing bump, she presses her whole body against him.
“I’m sorry.” He says. Lucy just hums and buries her nose into his neck, pressing kisses there.
“I love you.” She says. He melts a little, and snuggles closer to her if possible.
“I love you too Luce.” He says. She hums again and then moves away from him, he protests a little. But then she’s rolling on top of him, she pushes her hair back and then traps him in so he can’t move.
“You owe me.” She says. Tim stares at her, a little dumbfounded.
“What?”
“You took too long.” She says. “Now you owe me.” Tim blinks at her, and it’s not like he wouldn’t give her what he wants but it had been a long day. And he just wanted to go to sleep.
“I was getting ready for bed.” He points out.
“But I was here for so long.” She says softly. “Don’t you care about my wellbeing. And your baby’s?” His eyes dart to her stomach, and she has a tiny bump, he swears she went to bed without one and woke up with one.
“Of course I care.” He says. She grins at him and swoops down to kiss him, he pulls her down and kisses her back.
“That’s better.” Lucy mutters. “Tim gives her a grin and rolls them over, so he’s on top. His eyes go to her stomach again and then back at Lucy who is watching him carefully and well—if Lucy needs him. He wasn’t going to deny her this, he couldn’t if he tried. He kisses her again, and his long day fades from his mind.
Maybe this was exactly what he needed.
***
Tim wakes up a few mornings later with his phone buzzing next to him, he reaches over to grab it but he can’t seem to move. He turns his head to see Lucy, snuggled up to him. She’s holding on to him tightly and he knows he won’t be able to move without waking her.
“Luce.” He mutters. “Lucy.” She mumbles something into his chest, but doesn’t let go of him. So he tries again, turning his head more.
“Lucy.” He says. “I have to get up.”
“Why?”
“I have to go to work.” He says softly. “I’m sorry.”
“No.” She says. “Please don’t leave.” And he really doesn’t want to, Lucy being attached to him like a koala bear is quite—satisfying. He loves that she loves to cuddle, and she loves that she wants to be close to him.
But—
He’s going to be late for work if she doesn’t let him go. “Lucy, we can cuddle when I get home from work.” He promises. It’s what they do everyday, since she’s been so clingy to him. But he doesn’t mind. Not one bit.
“I don’t want you to go. Screw work. I’m warm.” She says into his chest. Tim laughs and gently peels Lucy away from him, and then rolls out of bed before she can pull him back in.
“You have to go to work too.” Tim points out. Lucy gives him a pout, and he leans down to kiss her.
“Tonight. I am all yours okay?” He says. Lucy pulls him down by his shirt, and kisses him.
“Promise?”
“I promise baby.” He says. He pulls back and slowly walks away. He hates leaving her, but being home with her tonight is definitely a promise he can keep.
***
Tim is sent on a raid the minute he steps through the station doors. He doesn’t even have time to think before he’s being whisked away. He sees Lucy briefly but can’t say anything to her so he just gives her a soft smile.
The raid is normal, it’s a drug infested house, Tim and his team go in hot. They are cooking meth in the kitchen, and it’s absolute chaos as they try to get everyone out. Tim tries not to breathe in the fumes but suddenly he’s feeling light headed and dizzy. Someone is calling his name, and he feels the hair on his skin rise up.
“Sergeant Bradford!” A voice calls in the distance. He feels hands on him, and then coolness of the air outside.
And then everything goes black.
***
Tim wakes up to someone holding his hand, and beeping machines. He opens his eyes, his head pounding and sees Lucy holding onto him. Her face is tear stained, and she looks scared.
“Hey.” He squeezes her hand, and she looks at him unshed tears in her eyes.
“Tim.” She breathes. She leans down to kiss him, her lips lingering on his forehead.
“I’m okay.” He says although he’s not sure if he is okay. “Right?” Lucy let’s out a wet laugh and nods.
“Yeah.” She says. “You just breathed in—you will be okay.” Her voice is shaky and broken as she runs her hand down his cheek.
“Are you okay?” He asks.
“I was so scared when they told me you passed out.” Lucy says running her finger down his arm. “I thought you got hurt.” Tim sighs, he hates that she gets stressed out. It’s not healthy for her or the baby.
“I’m okay.”
“I know.” She says. “Thank god. Our daughter needs you.” Tim blinks at her a couple of times before she realizes what she said.
“Wait.” He says. “What do you mean—”
“I was having a panic attack.” She says ducking her head down. “They wanted to make sure everything was okay with the baby and it just sort of slipped out.”
“A daughter?” He whispers. And really he would have been happy with either but—
Lucy nods, her cheeks tinged red. “Yeah a little girl who needs her daddy.” She says. Tim sits up a little in bed. The thought of having a daughter, a little overwhelming as he pulls her in.
“Oh my god.” He whispers. He sometimes still can’t believe they are having a baby.
“I know.” Lucy whispers. She smiles at him and scoots closer to the edge of the bed. She holds both his hands in hers. “I love you.”
Tim looks at her belly, and back at her. He’s sure his face shows all his emotions, he’s not even sure what he feels right now but his heart feels full.
A daughter with Lucy.
“I love you too.” He says. “I love you baby girl.” Lucy smiles at him, and then climbs into the bed with him and he might be in the hospital but this is all he needs right now.
***
“Timothy!” Lucy yells from the kitchen. Tim winces a little, and slowly makes his way to the kitchen. His wife is standing at the counter, holding a spoon and an empty bowl.
“Yes?”
“Did you eat my ice cream?” Lucy growls and Tim reels back, Lucy has had several different emotions the last few weeks but it’s never been anger.
“No?” He says. Lucy narrows her eyes at him, and he gulps. He knows he’s done for because he had eaten the ice cream. He meant to replace it but so much had happened—
“Tim.” She growls. He backs up a little as she advances on him.
“Okay! I ate it.” He says holding up his hands. “But—”
“That was my ice cream.” She says glaring at him, and he’s not sure if she’s actually angry or it’s just the hormones.
“I thought what was yours was mine.” Tim says almost teasingly.
“Not my fucking ice cream.”
Oh.
“I’m sorry baby. I will go get you ice cream.” He says and takes a cautious step forward. “I didn’t know you wanted it.”
“I did.”
“Okay.” Tim says and he walks forward and reaches out for Lucy. She doesn’t push him away, so he pulls her into his arms.
“I’m sorry.” He mutters. Lucy sighs and kisses his chest, and then looks up at her.
“It’s okay. She says. “Just don’t ever fucking eat my ice cream again. Baby girl wanted ice cream.” Tim laughs and puts his hand on her stomach.
“Sorry baby girl.” He says. “Daddy will go get some more ice cream.” Lucy makes a soft sound and pulls his face to hers.
“I love you. Even when you eat my love cream.” She says.
“Good to know.” He says. “Good to know.” And he knows he will never make that mistake again.
***
Tim comes home to the house freezing cold, and he shivers a little. It’s not exactly fall weather outside. But it’s cool enough for the ac to be off.
“Lucy?” He calls. But there’s nothing but silence so he tries again. “Luce?” He heads to the bedroom and he finds his wife half undressed sprawled out on the bed.
“Um?” Tim says moving closer. “What’s going on?”
“I’m hot.” She says. She sits up a little and looks at him, a hungry look in her eyes. And he has a feeling she is a different kind of hot now.
“Is that why the AC is on?” He asks. She nods as he climbs up on the bed, and she turns to face him.
“Yes but also—” She licks her lips and eyes him up and down. “You looked hot today.”
Oh.
He looks at her, and then down at himself. “Yeah?” He asks and he’s a little confused. He barely saw Lucy today, he was training with metro all day.
“Yeah.” She says scooting closer to him, “Something about those cargo pants and that tight shirt. No wonder I’m pregnant.”
Tim huffs out a laugh, and kisses her on the forehead, he can’t believe she finds cargo pants attractive.
He’s not complaining but—
“I didn’t know cargo pants did it for you baby.” He says. She kisses him again and then trails her hands down his body.
“You do it for me.” She replies. He swallows hard at the look in her eyes and he knows he’s not getting away from this unscathed.”I want you Tim.”
He swallows again, but he’s not going to deny her anything. And it’s not like they can’t do stuff, but he’s not seen her this turned on. It’s like she has a fire that’s burning inside of her.
For him.
“How do you want to do this?” He asks. Her eyes go to him, and then down to her belly.
“Make me come with your mouth.” She says and he doesn’t hesitate on getting himself between her legs. He pushes her panties aside and swallows his throat dry, she’s wet for him. And it always turns him on how turned on she is.
He starts slow, knowing it will drive her insane. The teasing and the foreplay is what makes everything they do—so good.
“Tim.” She whines her fingers going to his hair. He doesn’t look up, just sucks a mark inside her thigh.
He continues to go slowly, memorizing and loving on her. And then he dives in, and he hears her moan as soon as his mouth touches her pussy.
“Fuck.”
“Feels good baby?” He asks. She doesn’t reply right away, and so he continues. He licks in and out. He spreads her legs farther apart and goes faster as she squirms on the bed. He holds her still, as he hits a sensitive spot with his tongue.
“God.” She mutters.
“You good?” He looks up at her, and she has a far away look in her eyes.
“Yeah. Just extra sensitive.” She says. “Keep. Going.” Tim laughs and lowers himself back down.
He hears her moans and her sounds and they are music to his eyes. He knows her like the back of his hands, knows all the tell tale signs that she is going over the edge of pleasure.
She tightens up, and then she comes quickly. Her body shaking as the orgasm hits.
“Fuck.” She mutters. “Come here.” He lifts himself up, and kisses her and he knows she tastes herself on him.
“You good?” He asks.
“That was amazing.” She says. “You are amazing.” He laughs and lowers himself down, letting the cool air cool his skin down.
“You are amazing too Luce.” He says. “We can do that anytime you want.”
Lucy laughs but she sounds pleased. “Good.” She says smirking a little. “I will hold you to it.”
***
Tim is tired, exhausted even and he’s to the point where he just wants to go home and collapse on the couch. Or the ground.
He would be good with either one, he unlocks the door and he’s immediately greeted by Lucy who latches on to him.
“Hi.” He says running her back and kissing the top of her head. She doesn’t reply, and he realizes with a start she’s crying.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” He asks sounding confused. “Why are you crying?” Lucy looks up, her brown eyes full of tears. Her fingers grip his shirt, and he feels her shaking.
“I missed you.” She says. “I don’t like being off when you are at work.”
Ah
“I missed you too baby.” He says. “But I’m home now.” He yawns a little, and she looks up at him.
“You are tired.” She says dully. Tim frowns at her, and keeps her in place when she tries to walk away.
“I am.” He says. “Lucy, are you okay?” She shrugs her shoulders, and he gives her a little rub.
“I just—want you.” She says. “Morning. Day. Night. And when you are gone it’s like something is missing.”
“Oh baby.” He mutters.
“I knows it’s the pregnancy hormones because sometimes you piss me off but—” She shrugs her shoulders and he raises his eyebrows.
“And?”
“You are annoying and infuriating.” She says. He raises his eyebrows some more. This was a stark contrast to her sobbing into his shirt a few minutes ago. “But god I love you. And I know all these hormones will be worth it.”
Tim’s lip twitches into a smile, and he lifts her head up so she’s looking at him.
“I don’t know what you are going through Lucy. But I am so grateful because you are carrying our daughter. I know it’s rough but—”
“It’s worth it.”
“Yes.” He says. “And I will always be by your side Lucy. No matter what.”
“Good.” She says. “There’s no one I’d rather have by my side.” Tim smiles and he knows no matter what it will always be Lucy. It will always be them, and that’s okay with him.
***
Tim drags himself into the house, and smells something burning. He hurries into the kitchen to see Lucy trying to put out a small fire.
“Luce!” Tim hurries over and grabs a towel and hits the fire. It goes out, and he throws the towel aside and then turns to Lucy.
“I’m sorry.” She says. “I wasn’t paying attention and it just—” Tim pulls her into a hug, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
“I’m glad you are okay.” He says. She nods against his chest, and he attempts to move away but she clings on to him.
“No.” She says. “Just stay with me.” He blows out a breath, but holds onto her. He’s not sure how long they stay like that but soon he smells something burning. Lucy jumps back and runs to the oven and opens it up.
What looks like it once was lasagna is burnt to a crisp. “Damnit!” She cries and turns to look at Tim a defeated look in her eyes.
“It’s okay baby.” He says reassuringly. She shakes her head, and then goes back into his arms. And starts sobbing, her tears soaking his shirt.
“I just wanted to make you a nice dinner.” She sobs. “I just got distracted.” Tim sighs and moves a little pulling Lucy with him. He gets to the couch, and flops down. She does too and curls into his side, nuzzling his nose into his chest.
“We can order in and watch a movie.” He says. “How does that sound?” Lucy looks up at him, and clings onto his shirt.
“I’m a mess.” She says softly wiping her tears away. “I’m horny, I’m emotional, I’m sad. Im angry. I just—”
“You are growing our daughter.” Tim says softly. “Your body is going through a lot of changes.”
“You don’t think I’m a mess?” She asks. Tim snorts and he has to be careful of his answer.
“Maybe just a little bit.” He says. “But I love you, and I love our daughter. And it’s all going to be worth it when we meet her.”
Lucy nods and snuggles down into his side, and he feels tired all of a sudden. Maybe it’s because Lucy is curled into his side, or maybe it’s because he’s just tired.
And Lucy may be a mess, right now but he loves her and he knows they will get through this phase together.
No matter how emotional or horny or angry she was—no matter what because they were getting a baby girl. A daughter. They were going to be a family, and it’s all going to be worth it.
And he really couldn’t wait for their daughter to arrive and for their new chapter to begin.
