Why do you travel to earth?

Chapter Text

Kenma had imagined Kuroo to be the life of a party, but in reality, it was more like a cat being placed in the lap of a guest, a deer caught in headlights, it would rather be anywhere else.

“Stop looking so out of place,” Kenma said, elbowing him, “You look like a supervisor and not a relaxed student.”

They arrived at the student common room, that had been decorated with streamers, the light’s were dimmed giving it a more cozy atmosphere, sofas in the corners where people sat and chatted with a red cup, presumably alcohol.

“I have never been to a party,” he said having to move out of the way for two people dancing, “You know, being dead before even getting invited to one”.

Even though Kenma had the same stoic expression, as usual, but he could feel that Kenma was sorry for him

“Don’t be sorry for me,” he said, which relieved Kenma a little, “ I have had a good life, even if it was short”.

“I’m not sorry for you,” Kenma said, Kuroo blinked and grinned knowing it was a lie.

“Right,” he just said and smirked.

Hinata hadn’t arrived yet, the same with Akaashi, but Bokuto…

“WOOOO” was the center of the party, dancing and just having a good time.

Bokuto spotted Kuroo and grinned, and Kuroo was not sure if he should be happy or terrified.

“Come on,” Bokuto yelled over everybody, and scooting by the other dancing students.

“No thanks,” Kuroo yelled back, but it was too late, Bokuto had grabbed his hand.

He tried contacting Kenma, who was smiling, “I’ll be the lookout” and that puddinghead was grinning.

-----

Kenma watched as Kuroo was dragged away, he deserved to have fun more than anybody. A shiver went down his spine as a person stood beside him. It was his teacher.

“Hi sir,” Kenma tried, but he could tell Daisho’s eyes were fixated elsewhere, on Kuroo who was grinning and smiling real for the first time while dancing with Bokuto. It was a funny sight.

Kenma was really uncomfortable, especially after hearing Kuroo’s story.

“Hi Kozume,” he said with a gentle tone unlike in his class, “I’m here as supervisor, not a teacher. Don’t worry”

They stood there for some time in awkward silence. Kuroo hadn’t noticed them yet.

“Sir-”, he interrupted him, “I want to know what you have done”. Kenma turned his head and sighed.

“I’m not even sure myself,” Kenma said, where Daisho was quick to say, “With all respect Kozume, you don’t do stuff half-heartedly.”

“Well, sir, I haven’t tried summoning a demon before,” and Daisho whipped his head so fast.

“WHAT?” which made a few heads turn, he composed himself.

“So you’re saying that…” he couldn’t finish the sentence, “That’s impossible”.

“WIth all due respect sir, would you rather think that Kuroo somehow emerged from the dead, plus,” Kenma looked around, “He’s got horns”. And Daisho had to laugh at that.

“Thought I was hallucinating,” and he looked at Kuroo fondly, which surprised Kenma. This was not the cold blooded murderer that Kuroo had portrayed.

They stood in silence for some time.

“Does he,” Daisho was finding the right words, “Still remember?”

Kenma raised his brow, and Daisho elaborated, “Does he remember everything from when he was alive?”

Kenma seemed to contemplate, “I don’t know if he remembers everything, but he told us how he died.”

Daisho had a sad look.

“But if you want to know if he remembers you, then yes,” Kenma assured, which relieved Daisho for a moment, “But not in a good way.”

Daisho looked shocked at the statement.

“Why?”

“He didn’t say,” Kenma lied, “But if I knew I would still tell you to work it out yourself with him…sir”

Daisho sighed again, feeling crestfallen.

—--

Akaashi and Hinata had arrived.

“What is the status?” Akaashi asked, looking tired from the late afterclass.

Kenma saw Bokuto and Kuroo talking and laughing.

“Bokuto and Kuroo stays here,” Kenma said, “But one of us needs to stay here and keep a close eye on Kuroo.”

Hinata butted in, “Why can’t I?”

Akaashi sighed, Hinata and Bokuto had more of the same mindset.

“Because you and Bokuto share the same brain cell, which is a bad combo to Kuroo’s mischievous brain cell’s” Kenma said coming off a little harsh.

“Ahh”, Hinata said slightly deflated, “Besides, it’s you sister, whether it’s me or Akaashi, you need to be investigating with”.

Hinata beamed at that. “I’m not on good foot with Shinji,” said Kenma and didn’t elaborate. They had worked together on multiple projects and always butted heads.

Akaashi looked amused, “Wow, and you think I’m his cup of tea?” Kenma laughed at that. “Akaashi, you are EVERYBODY’s cup of tea,” and Hinata chimed in with, “True.”

-----

They had split up, Kenma, Kuroo and Bokuto in the main room, looking out for anything suspicious while Akaashi and Hinata was out finding Shinji but…

“He isn’t here,” Hinata said disappointed and Kenma huffed out a “What?”

Kenma looked around not seeing Shinji, but again it was dark. Kuroo was in long thought.

“What do you mean he isn’t-” Kenma started but Kuroo raised his hand slightly making Kenma shut up. His eyes turned completely black, making him look like a demon, which he was.

“He’s at,” Kuroo’s brow furrowed.

“The library”, his eyes turned golden again, “With Haruka”. Kenma’s eyes got bigger. That was probably bad, really bad.

Akaashi said what they were all thinking, “We need to get there fast.”

-----

The group ran as fast as they could, ignoring the fact that Kuroo could technically teleport, but it was deemed too risky. They all burst into the library where they startled Shinji and Haruka, not expecting anyone to come here, when the party was in full swing.

None knew how to approach this, so Kuroo took the lead.

“We have been looking for you everywhere Shinji,” Kuroo said using that fake smile.

He looked over at Haruka, “Oh Haruka, what a surprise?” He lied flawlessly

Their thoughts were all over the place.

“Oh we were just discussing…” she said trailing off, waiting for Shinji to finish the sentence.

Kuroo cut him off by saying, “Me?”

Haruka looked really pale, “No no Kuroo, I just-”

Shinji opened his mouth, “We were just planning the next party.”

She nodded vigorously, not having any idea their thoughts were basically being broadcasted.

Kuroo sighed walking closer to them in a calm manner, “You are really made for each other” which made them both blush, “You equally suck at lying”.

He stood in front of them both, “What are you lying for?”

He stood there staring them down for what felt like ages.

Haruka burst, “Shinji was just selling me-” weed her thoughts ended when Shinji put hand over her mouth.

Kuroo rubbed his temples, “You sent me on a goose chase because of weed”.

Bokuto burst out laughing, even Kenma and Akaashi couldn't help but snicker.

Haruka and Shinji had their mouths wide open.

“What…were you after Kuroo?” Shinji asked with the little courage he had.

“I asked your ‘Friend’ Haruka about Natsu's death and you think I would give a crap about you selling weed”, Kuroo's temper was flaring.

“I'm sorry I couldn't help you out more Kuroo,” Haruka said bowing slightly. Kuroo contemplated something, a theory started to form, “Did Natsu come here as well?”

“Are you indicating my sister-” Hinata said on the way over to Kuroo, fuming.

“She did,” Haruka admitted and Hinata halted, his face indicating that he felt a bit betrayed.

Haruka continued, “She was here maybe twice a month, more If there was an exam coming up”.

“You're lying,” whispered Hinata, “You're lying!” He yelled lunging forward to grab Haruka and shake or something.

“Hinata stop,” yelled Kenma as Kuroo got a hold of his shirts collar and throwing him back to the group.

“She isn't lying, so stop giving her the blame for something your sister decided to do,” Kuroo said harshly, while Haruka stood in shock behind him.

“Holy crap,” Shinji muttered.

“Kuroo, that was uncalled for,” Akaashi muttered helping Hinata up on his feet.

“So Haruka should get punished for Natsu's sins?” Kuroo was fuming, turning around to face them, leaving them stunned.

“But-”

“I agreed to help you find the person who killed Natsu,” his eyes turning black from anger, “Not punish people who has done nothing wrong but telling the truth.”

He took a deep breath and his eyes turned to normal, “If they were covering for the murderer it would have been another story but that's not the case”.

He gave a hollow laugh, “They just deal weed for christ sake”.
