Work Text:

Jungsu knew he wasn't supposed to hear the muttered voices on the phone. He's supposed to be asleep. He kept his eyes shut, trying to listen to his boyfriend's heartbeat.

He might have been able to on any other night except for this one.

Because he's overhearing his boyfriend cheating on him.

"I have to be quiet, Jooyeon. You know this, Jungsu Hyung is asleep right now." Jiseok groans as if Jungsu is some kind of problem child.

He knows who Jooyeon is because Jooyeon was his fucking brother. "I thought you two were gonna break up?"

"We were supposed to."  Jiseok's answer is simple, and Jungsu can hear the way his heart is breaking. "Anyways, why are you calling me so late to begin with? It's kind of hard to talk this late at night."

Jooyeon's breath is shaky from the moment Jiseok asks that to the moment he answers. "Seungmin found out."

Jungsu glances up and he doesn't miss the smirk plastered on Jiseok's face. "Why are you crying?" It's in a whisper.

He doesn't know why Jiseok is still whispering even though he thinks that Jungsu is still asleep. Jungsu has never been a heavy sleeper, though. "I thought you were going to break up with him too. Kind of contradictory to ask me why I'm still with Hyung if you're still with Seungmin."

Jooyeon sighs. Jungsu has never been too fond of hearing his brother sad, and despite all of this, he feels bad. "Yeah, of course, I wish Seungmin was you, but he's still my childhood best friend."

Jungsu doesn't even want to think about how bad Seungmin must be feeling right now. I guess Jooyeon never really did move on from stealing people's boyfriends, just like he stole his best friend in high school's boyfriend of three years. One of these days, he should call and check up on Hyeongjun. He was never stupid to get back with Gunil, but hey? He's happy again, and he's always liked older men to begin with.

"That's sweet of you to say, Jooyeon."

Jooyeon laughs, all of the sadness in his tone erased, "It's really good to hear your voice saying my name again. It sounds so sweet."

Jungsu can feel Jiseok tilt his head. "How'd Seungmin even find out anyway?"

"Went through my messages and took pictures of all of it," Jooyeon answers, and maybe Jungsu should have expected that. Jiseok clearly did when he laughed.

Maybe that's why Jiseok changed his phone password months ago and never gave it back to Jungsu. It hurts to listen to all of this. "I think he plans on sending it to Jungsu."

Jiseok laughs again. "Does Seungmin know you're talking to me right now?"

There's silence for a minute, and Jungsu wonders if Jooyeon had shaken his head before realizing that Jiseok couldn't see him. "He doesn't have a clue. He's on the phone with Hyeongjun and trying to get the boy's boyfriend to come get him and all of his shit."

"He's still in touch?" Jiseok asks.

Jooyeon giggles, "Yeah. Maybe he should have learned the first time when Gunil chose me over him."

Jiseok pauses before he looks down at Jungsu. Jungsu can feel the cold stare on him. He wonders how he never realized how cold it was before. "Hey, shut up for a second, I'm gonna wake Jungsu up because it's almost time for me to leave for work."

At least he was still playing the good boyfriend part. If only he was a good boyfriend, though. Jungsu feels a gentle hand on his shoulder shaking him awake, along with Jiseok telling him that it was time for him to get up so that Jooyeon can get ready and go to work.

Jungsu whines and rolls over, because what is he supposed to do? He blinks his eyes open and winces at the way his eyes feel like they have eye boogers on them.

"I'm heading out, Hyung."

Jungsu has never hated him more when he gets up and walks away.

The moment Jungsu hears the front door shut, he grabs his own phone and calls Seungmin, who picks up almost instantly.

"Do you know?" Seungmin asks. His voice is watery and Jungsu doesn't like it. Junsgu doesn't know when the last time he saw Seungmin cry, if ever, but he fucking hates it with a passion.

It's kind of funny how Seungmin knows. "I woke up and there he was. Talking to my own brother about how he was cheating on me." It's bitter, and it makes Jungsu laugh.

Seungmin sighs, and if Jungsu knows Seungmin, he's probably sad. Seungmin is a sweetheart, and he's sensitive, and maybe he cares a little too much about people despite what some people think of him. "What are you doing?" Junsgu asks.

"Calling Hyeongjun and asking if he and his boyfriend can come get me."

"I'll meet you outside of your apartment in a few minutes. I just need time to get my things together."

Seungmin is smiling, probably. "Okay, Hyung."

And maybe, just maybe, Jiseok and Jooyeon turning out to be cheaters might just be good for them.
