The bar was loud and crowded. The regulars mixed with those that just popped in to take a shelter from the pouring rain outside. Jane sat in her usual spot at the counter, nursing a drink, and observing how some drunk guy tried shooting his shot at N’Sand.
She would have felt sorry for him if he left their hot singer alone after the first ‘Sorry, I’m not interested.’ as she could understand wanting to get close and personal to someone so sweet and handsome but he didn't. Seemed to not buy N’Sand’s disinterest, kept pestering him for a couple of minutes now, and she felt like it was a matter of seconds before he got touchy. She wondered who would snap first: Plug who was glancing in their direction with a frown on his face while making a Piña Colada for some cute girl or N’Sand himself.
Then the guy’s palm landed on the leather clad shoulder. Plug jerked from his spot, and she was just about to get her answer as Sand opened his mouth when a familiar face showed up. The resident slut, a shame he was only interested in men, walked right into that unwanted hand which the creep had to snatch away or it would get broken.
Glaring at the guy with ferocity she only seen him reserve for that tall guy he used to hang out with, he snarled: “He is taken, fuck off.”, and backed himself against the singer’s chest.
While Sand wrapped his arm around his waist, the stranger stumbled away, muttering curses under his nose. She turned her gaze towards her drink when the guard dog’s eyes met hers but kept an ear on their conversation, feeling glad she was close enough to hear it. Giddy hope bloomed in her heart.
Is this how I will find out that the sickeningly sweet trio finally got their shit together and went poly?
“I could have handled him.”
“Sorry to say but I don't believe you. I know how Ray flirts.”
N’Sand’s laughter brought a smile to her face.
“Ray was interesting. Charming. Go ahead and try to be firm while staring into his adorable face. Those sparkling eyes.”
“Mmm” Boston’s hum sounded pensive and she wondered what was going through his head.
“Anyways. What are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to be on a date today?”
“I was. Then my car broke down while I was driving back home, Ray picked me up, and now we are rescuing you from the rain. Come on, he is waiting outside.”
Jane felt proud of herself for not face-palming right there, only letting herself release a tiny sigh.
So hopeless. And there is some other guy now too?
Groaning, Jane flagged Plug for another drink to wash away her disappointment. Once she got it, she scanned the crowd for that Piña Colada cutie from earlier. At least maybe she will get lucky today.
