Chapter Text
Tobirama came to a stop on a low branch. His breath visible in front of him, on the ground staring up at him stood Uchiha Madara. What on earth was he doing so far north at this time of year? He cursed himself for not sensing as he traveled. He had let himself become too confident in his belief that no one else would be out in a snowstorm.
Neither of them moved or said a word, simply staring at each other. Several minutes passed by like this and Tobirama had to stop himself from fidgeting, the longer he stood there the colder he was, the wind and snow beating against his exposed skin. Maybe if he turned and ran he could escape him.
Except Tobirama was tired, he had been searching for somewhere to bed down for the night after a full day of traveling at his top speed in an attempt to make it to the capital before this storm hit.
Finally Madara broke the silence.
“I was starting to worry you would stop before you made it to me " Madara spoke his deep voice breaking the heavy silence.
“Were you waiting for me?" Tobirama asked, but what? That didn't even make sense. Why would Madara be waiting for him? Why risk it in a storm like this?
“You know,I learned something at the Capitol this week, something that was apparently meant to be a secret. Did you know Hahirama has an omega brother?"
Tobirama felt his blood freeze. No. This was his worst nightmare. No one was supposed to know that! Hell, even his own clan was unaware of his true designation. All of them assuming he was a beta. The only people who knew were top officials in the daimyo’s court and only because it would have been a crime to try and conceal that from them.
"It came as quite a shock to me. I thought surely there must be another brother I was unaware of. Then he spoke of your white hair and red eyes, so I knew he meant you. Don't bother trying to deny it.” Madara’s penetrating gaze locked on him.
Tobirama stayed silent. Really what was there to say? He obviously couldn't deny it. Running was looking promising. He didn't know what Madara planned to do with the information but he knew it could be good.
"My clan elders have been pushing me to marry. Now I've been pushing them off because I haven't met someone who really matches me. I thought I was waiting for a love match. But now I think I'm going to use it to force peace. And how lucky was I that as I was returning home to tell the elders my plan I felt you approaching.”
Madara kept his voice even, and his posture lax, like they were old friends. Not mortal enemies. None of this made any sense.
"Force peace? What need do you have to force it!? Hashirama has been asking for years to have peace! All you have to do is accept it!” Tobirama snapped, his voice full of frustration.
"What guarantee would we have that you would keep that? No, I think this is much better. Once you are carrying my pup no one will be able to deny the need for peace.” Madara took a step forward, a clear sign that should he run, Madara will follow.
It took all of his willpower to remain in place and not let a single emotion break free of his icy mask. He was wrong before, being found out wasn't the worst possibility, this was.
“So what is your plan? Force me to carry your children, to be what, a breeding bitch for you?” Despite his best efforts he was certain some of the fear he was feeling had slipped into his voice. He had spent years hiding what he really was all for some idiot in the daimyo’s court to give him away to Madara if all people.
"I don't want to force you, I had hoped you would see sense in my plan and simply agree. I wouldn't disrespect you like that, what I'm suggesting is a proper bond between us, formalized in a marriage hunt. Of making you my wife in the eyes of the Daimyo. I want to go with you back to the capital and make it official and not leave until we are certain you are pregnant, so no one in either clan can deny it. With the Daimyo's backing our war would be effectively over. "
Tobirama wanted to say no, to turn around and run to the safety of his brother, his pack alpha. He wanted to snuggle with Mito-nee and drink tea. Now it was looking like he wouldn't ever go back to that. He wasn't sure if Madara not wanting to force him meant he wouldn't. Though to be honest his plan had some merit. It was a better plan for peace than he had been able to come up with. If the Daimyo really did honor their bonding both clans would be forced to give up the war.
"Say I agree to this. How do you see this going?”
"Well first I'd like to get out of this storm. Then once we get to the capital I will petition the Daimyo for a marriage hunt, then once I catch you we will work on making our pup.”
Tobirama nodded, accepting this, titing his head he addressed Madara, “I don't suppose you know somewhere close to get out of this storm?” With this Tobirama dropped from the tree he was in and stood in front of Madara.
Madara gave a crooked smile, "does this mean you agree then?”
Tobirama scoffed, "it means the idea has merit and I'm willing to consider it. But I'd rather not do that outside freezing my ass off.”
This caused Madara to let out a laugh, “fair enough, there is an inn not far from here, maybe another hours run. I'm sure I can get a room for the night.”
Tobirama couldn't believe he was doing this. His father must be rolling over in his grave knowing Tobirama is traveling alongside Uchiha Madara with no intention of harming him, in fact considering mating him!
He was considering mating Uchiha Madara. He had never considered mating anyone. In fact he had hoped to keep his dynamic a secret forever, unless Hashirama had need of him to make a political marriage. Something he didn't really even consider because Hashirama had told him he would never do that to him. But if he knew what Madara was proposing would he consider it for that?
He had no doubt his brother loved him and would protect him, but this was his dream. This was possibly the only way to convince the Uchiha that peace could be sustainable.
It really didn't matter what he wanted, did it? This was his duty to his clan, something really only he could do.
Once they got to the inn, Madara tried to book them a single room, “I will take my own room actually. I may be considering your proposal but I'm not about to jump into bed with you!" Tobirama could help but let some of the outrage out in his voice, though he kept all emotion off his face.
"Wh….what?! I… that. No. I, I was not thinking that! I was just trying to be polite since I suggested this inn!”
Tobirama rolled his eyes at him. For someone who an hour ago was talking about fucking a pup into him he was awfully bashful.
"Well I don't need it. I will stay in my own room and we can travel together in the morning.”
After getting his room key he nodded at Madara and went to his own room. Then making sure it was secure with traps on the door and window he finally let himself relax.
Fuck, what a day, he thought. This wasn't how he saw his day going. He had been traveling to the capital to formally announce the birth of Hashirama 's first child on behalf of his brother, and now he was likely going to be getting married first.
Tobirama started to strip out of his damp clothing, eager to get dry and warm again. After changing he laid out his travel gear to dry out, hopefully before morning. Especially his fur. He hated to be without it, but the snow had thoroughly soaked it.
Briefly he considered bathing but honestly he was just too tired, so he climbed into bed and wrapped himself in the blankets. He just needed a few hours of sleep to wrap his head around all of this.
***********
Madara couldn't believe it really worked.
When he had been drinking with the other nobles, Shinobi and civilian alike, talking about eligible omegas, he had never expected to hear the Senju name. In fact from the looks on everyone else's faces none of them had. When pushed for further information, the clearly inebriated, aid to the daimyo started talking about Senju-sama’s beautiful white hair, and his red eyes. Looking around he saw he wasn't the only one who had perked up in interest, the Ino, Shika, Cho alliance had all leaned forward and started whispering to each other. And the Shimura clan has started probing for more information.
Omegas have become far fewer in the last 50 years, and mating one has become somewhat of a sign of status. Most omegas were under educated and lived pampered lives. The thought of a man like Tobirama being an omega? Unheard of, and incredibly appealing. Say nothing of the alliance that could be had by an alpha omega pairing, the thought of a well educated strong mate? You would have to be crazy not to look for that. But Tobirama came with so many more perks for him personally. What if he was able to broker peace through marriage? He had been quick to leave after that, wanting to get home to propose his new plan to the clan.
Then when Madara had been heading home he stopped to look for somewhere to make camp because he didn’t want to be stuck in a storm. So he had stretched out his senses and to his shock he felt Tobirama, and he was heading straight to him!
What could this be other than fate? All he had to do was wait here and he could make all of his dreams a reality.
His original plan had been to write Hashirama with a request for peace on the agreement of marriage between himself and Tobirama. It had a lot of risks, the main one being that Hashirama might say no. But now he had a way to make sure it happened. If he called a marriage hunt, no one would be able to stop him, and if he was able to bring Tobirama back to his clan already pregnant? Not even those most against peace would be able to protest.
All he had to do was convince Tobirama. Which from what he knew of him might be the hardest part. He was known to be cold and unfeeling, knowing he was an Omega and still managed to be so cold? He wondered if there was any part of him that could be soft enough to be talked into something like this?
Did it really matter? Tobirama didn't actually have to agree to the marriage hunt to make it happen. The Daimyo would acknowledge a marriage hunt called by a noble clan. All he really had to do was mate him.
Could he do that though? Madara had dreamed of falling in love, mating and then having pups. He wanted what his mother and father had. Could he actually force someone into mating with him?
Imagining it filled him with disgust. No, he could never do that to someone, he knew some alphas did things like that but it always seemed so wrong, he wouldn’t be doing that.
So he was back to convincing Tobirama. Did that man even have the usual omega instincts? He doubted it, how could he fight the way he did if he had typical omega instincts. If he did, maybe he could have played on those, but no, what a man like Tobirama needed was logic. He has to convince him that mating was the right thing for both of their clans.
So he had waited, and everything played out almost exactly the way he imagined it.
And tomorrow they would go back to the capital and make things official.
