Chapter Text

Quackity and Wilbur walked up the mountain. Through the snow that had been left from the storm. Quackity could see how very far down the base of the mountain was, it made him nauseous. He climbed up a rocky path. Quackity caught his breath. There was Olympus. In all her shining glory, there she stood. Sweeping white marble archways lined the palace, big enough to be a small town in reality. It was surrounded by twelve floating platforms. Each one had carved symbols that signified which god it belonged to.

Before them, there was a platform with an owl carved into the side of the archway. Quackity guessed it belonged to Palace Athena, the goddess of wisdom and warfare. When Quackity heard stories of the goddess as a child, he always thought Athena sounded terrifying. So when Wilbur-Hermes walked straight into the platform, Quackity just stared after him. Wilbur turned back and laughed.

“C’mon. Athena won’t mind, probably.” Wilbur said. Quackity squinted skeptically. “You’ll be fine!”

Quackity sighed and followed Wilbur inside. It was a simple interior, a bearskin rug lined the floor of the first room. There were weapons displayed proudly in every room of Athenas palace. Quackity followed Wilbur as he half walked, half flew through the halls. Wilbur came to a sudden stop. Quackity walked up beside him to see what was the matter. Before them was a man. No, not a man, a goddess.

The goddess Athena stood facing Wilbur with a low glare and crossed arms. He was tall and muscular and painted with scars. He wore heavy metal armour and had a spear strapped to his back. And, peculiarly enough, he had long pink hair tied back into a thick braid. Even still, he was a ferocious sight. Quackity began to drop into a bow but Wilbur put a hand on his shoulder to stop him. Quackity looked over to Wilbur, Wilbur had his eyes set on the goddess.

“Techno.” He said, addressing Athena.

“Wilbur.” Athena responded. “What are you doing in my house?”

“Helping a friend out, through your house was the quickest way.” Wilbur said, crossing his arms. “Techno, this is Quackity Nevadas, Quackity, this is Technoblade Athena. My brother.” Quackity nodded a hello quickly. Athena turned to Quackity, Quackity shrank under the attention.

“Huh.” Athena grunted. “Quackity Nevadas. There’s been rumors about you, you know.” He said. Quackity kept eye contact. He gave no reply. “What makes you think you can just walk up to Olympus and fight a god?” He was wearing a dark grin, born of true curiosity but with a grim undertone.

“Because he’s the most powerful mortal I have ever met. Let us through.” Wilbur stepped forward. Athena rolled his eyes.

“Prove it” Athena said, drawing his spear, pointing it at Quackity. Quackity paled.

Athena lead Quackity to a practice room. They were going to duel. Quackity felt more nauseous than before, the world was spinning a bit and the fight hadn’t even begun. Athena stood in across him, holding his spear up to his face. Quackity held his sword in a similar fashion. Athena drew his spear down in a salute, Quackity mirrored the motion.

“On guard.” Wilbur called, pressing his hand to his temples. Quackity readied his stance.

“Ready?” He was not. He really was not.

“Duel!”

Athena raced at Quackity like a bull. The thunder of his footsteps grew louder. Quackity ducked under the blow and moved around the goddess to face her at the side. Athena Slashed at him, he deflected the spear with his sword but the blow still made him stumble backwards. The goddess was relentless with her strikes, never faltering in strength or speed. Quackity, however, could not keep up, he was slipping. From the corner of his eye, he saw Wilbur wince.

Quackity ran back to avoid the sharp blade end of the spear. He knocked into the edge of the arena, but steadied himself. As Athena was charging at him, he held out his blade and ran back at the goddess. For his son. For all the work he had put in. He would go until no end to be sure that his son was safe and sound. He held out the blade and ran with a ll his might. Athena side stepped his blade and grabbed him by the shirt.

Quackity twisted out of the way, in his attempts, he slammed his head straight into the blade of the spear. It jabbed into his eye, Quackity screamed in pain and stepped back. He could barely see, the world was spinning. He saw red. He couldn’t give up though, not when he was this close. Quackity bared his teeth and charged again. He was about to strike when Athena stepped away. He held up his hand for a pause.

“I surrender.” Athena said. Quackity blinked, as well as he could with one of his eyes being completely mutilated.

“You what?” He asked. Athena smiled.

“I surrender. I wan’t to see you succeed, you have the passion and fighting spirit. You cannot succeed if I kill you here and now.” Athena said. Quackity stared.

“Thank you” He whispered, the world went black.
