The three of them were in the living room, Heart and Mind sitting on the couch a considerable distance from each other and Soul standing in front of them. He pinched the bridge of his nose before speaking.
“Alright we need to do something about this. You two argue way too often and way too much.”
Heart’s posture changed from attentive to slouched while Mind rolled his eyes, they both knew this was going to be another long talking to from Soul.
“…which is why I’m going out tonight”
That sentence snapped the two back into listening.
“You’re doing what?” Mind enquired.
“I’m going out tonight and if I don’t come back to both of you getting along, I swear to god I don’t know what I’ll do but it certainly will not be good for either of you.”
“So, one night? That’s it?” Heart asked
“One night”.
The night onwards was relatively uneventful, Soul left at about 6pm leaving Heart and Mind to prepare their own dinners. They did so with minimal interaction, both opting to eat in separate rooms. On the bright side, they technically weren’t fighting just as Soul had ordered.
At around 9pm Heart entered Mind’s room, clearly somewhat intoxicated given his constant swaying and slurred speech.
“Heyaaa Apollo” Heart slurred, leaning against the doorframe for support.
Mind, who was sitting at his desk reading, swiftly hopped up to support Heart.
“What the fuck did you do?”
“Nothing!” Heat couldn’t help but giggle between words, “Just having fun! y’know… we could have fun…” His voice dropped a tone as he smirked.
Mind’s face became warm as he cleared his throat.
“Uh, no. I think it would be best for you to have an early night”
“Come on pretty boy, just one night can’t hurt” Heart giggled.
Mind was flustered, but he sure wasn’t stupid.
“Heart, you know that I can’t when you’re like this. Let’s get you to bed”
Mind took Heart’s hand and guided him to his bedroom. It was a struggle keeping Heart from stumbling and falling but the two eventually made it.
“Alright go to bed now, I’ll be awake if you need anything. Try to feel better by the morning or Soul will think I was the cause of this.” Mind said.
Heart paused before speaking, “Could you…stay?” his voice far softer than before.
Mind hesitated before sighing.
“Fine, but nothing else, okay?”
“Okay”
Mind lied down next to Heart and before too long they were both fast asleep.
Hours later Soul returned home, checking Mind’s room he noticed the automaton was nowhere to be found. Somewhat panicked, he rushed to Heart’s room only to find he two of them fast asleep with their arms and legs entangled in an embrace.
Soul smiled and chuckled, leaning against the doorframe shaking his head.
“Well it’s better than one night of fighting.”
