Work Text:
Due to unforseen circumstances, Honami finds herself hopelessly smitten for her bandmates. The worst part is it's not just one. No, Honami has fallen for all of them. It's a situation that she can't quite come to terms with. Confessing is something that she wants to do desperately. She needs them to know how she feels but at the same time she doesn't know if she's willing to risk her friendship for that. The entire band was built off their friendship and hardwork. If Honami was to confess... who knows what kind of strain it could cause on everyone.
So she doesn't.
She doesn't confess her feelings and lets them stew inside her for far too long to the point she fears they might burst out every single band practice.
Clearly this isn't a proper solution. Honami decides that she shall find a proper way to confess.
Her woes about confessing worm their way into her brain while she's cleaning Miss Yoisaki's house. She notices that it's cleaner than before, like someone had recently been cleaning around as well. It makes her think about asking Yosaki if someone else lives here but her thoughts are interrupted by the girl herself. Apparently Honami had been too busy in thought that she had just dozed off for a bit too long.
"Ah, Miss Mochizuki? Are you alright?" Yoisaki's voice is filled with worry and Honami feels a twinge of guilt hit her.
"Please, don't fret about me. I'm alright. Do you need anything, Miss Yoisaki?" She questions while finishing her work brooming the floor. Yoisaki fidgets with her sweatshirts sleeve before continuing.
"You seem to be... thinking of something very... important to you." Kanade states and Honami freezes. Was she really that obvious? She doesn't answer for a bit, trying to map out what to say before replying.
"I'm fine Miss Yoisaki, truly." She continues to broom and finishes up her work with a bit more haste than usual.
"Miss Mochizuki, if you ever feel stuck with anything, I've heard that writing out your feelings always helps." Kanade calls out from her door as Honami begins to leave. That advice sticks with her as she continues her day. It stays with her as she finishes band practice and sees her bandmates.
Maybe Miss Yoisaki has a point.
Honami doesn't know the first thing about writing love letters. She sits at her table for far too long for something that should be relatively simple. Her feelings are... too much. She shouldn’t be this distracted for something like this, so she focuses all her attention onto the letter. The first thing about any letter is who you send it too... Does she send it to only one person? Or does she send it to her whole band?
After lots of careful consideration, Honami decides that she shall send the letter to all her bandmates. Mainly because if she wrote individual letters she's sure her heart will explode. Then, her pencil hits paper and she doesn't stop writing. She pours out her heart like this is her will on her deathbed, confessing every feeling she has for them. Honami reads it once, then again, then again, making sure that it's good enough for them to recive. She finds herself satisfied with what she's done and puts the letter in her bag. Tomorrow she'll have to get to school a bit earlier than the rest so that she's able to put her letter in a locker.
Sure it's a bit childish and now she feels like a main character from one of Saki's romance novels but she also feels a bit giddy. Okay saying she feels a bit giddy is an understatement, she is absolutely ecstatic.
Ecstatic enough to forget putting her name as the sender...
Honami gets to school far earlier than any of her friends. She slips the letter into Shiho's locker and then puts on her shoes as quickly as possible before beelining for her class. She specifically chose Shiho's locker because she knows that if anything happens, Shiho won't bring it up during school. The day goes on normally, not even a strange glance from the bassist. Honani is starting to wonder if she even put it in her locket at all...
Soon practice time rolls around and they all enter the SEKAI to play. "You know, I got this really long letter in my locker today." Shiho states as they situate into their positions. Honami whips her head up from looking down at her drums. Was this it? This could crush their entire friendship and destroy everything. The suspense is killing her, why does the clock seem to be moving slower!? "Some extremely passionate fanmail for the band, is what I'm assuming. They didn't write down their name though..." Shiho continues, pulling out the letter and Honami pales. That was her letter. With no sign indicating that she wrote it.
Oh no.
Ichika and Saki leave their spots and walk over to Shiho while the drummer stays frozen in place. As Saki scans the letter and squeals Honami feels her heart drop. What should've been a heartfelt confession from the band's leader turned into a... fan letter!? She can't believe how horribly she messed this up. As if it can't get any worse, Shiho absolutely beams while she reads the letter, her face brightens and a soft blush covers her face. It's so sweet that Honami wants to curl up and wither away.
"Hey, they addressed it to us three but not Honami..." Ichika states while reading the letter once more. Her face goes from a smile to a small frown.
"They also use ai a lot too." Shiho hums.
Honami decides that holding back isn't going to work.
"It was supposed to be a love letter. From me to you." Honami breaks her silence and everyone turns around so fast they might get whiplash. Saki's face turns into a little 'O' as she processes what was just said. She can feel herself burn up into a tomato at this point, how did she mess up so bad!?
"Next time sign your love letters." Shiho says with a huff.
Saki doesn't say a word as she walks over to Honami and hugs her.
"Do you... do you all accept my feelings?" It feels so cliche to say it out loud and Honami almost laughs at herself. There's some quiet before an answer.
"Yes."
