He scowled down at the wriggling blonde. He'd planned for this moment since leaving the public eye 3 years ago and now it was time to destroy the same person who tortured him nearly his whole life. He'd hacked, bartered and even killed people in order for this exact moment to happen and now, here it was, and yet, all he could feel was emptiness.
The camera flashed red, signaling that it was filming, and he snarled up at the lens. Time for the show.
"Hello, people of Japan. My name is Nemesis, and I've got a special little show for everyone. Here tonight, my cohost, Bakugo Katsuki. Many might recognize him as the student from UA that had to be chained up after the Sport's festival, but I know him by a different name." He tilted his head, green eyes nearly glowing in the dim light of the warehouse.
"My abuser."
He chuckled, shaking his head. "You see. Katsuki used to be my best friend. We did everything together. We were going to be heroes together. The Wonder Duo. Kacchan and Zuku. The perfect team." He scoffed, "Only Katsuki got his quirk and the teachers boosted his ego. And it was, cool, I mean. His quirk was awesome, and I loved seeing it. Thought of so many different things he could do with it. And for a time, things were great. But then my own quirk came in and my world came crashing down."
He took a deep breath, his heavily scarred hand lifting to pull off his mask. A bony, freckled face torn to shreds by countless scars stared with disinterest back at the world. "My quirk, aptly named Siren was special. With just my voice, singing any song, I could make anyone within hearing distance see whatever I wanted them to see. I thought it was a good quirk. I could use it to make the villains think they were alone or even someone else. But my teachers thought it was villainous. They began to turn on me. Calling me a bad child and blaming me for everything that happened, even if there was no way I could have done it. Hell, half the time I was even muzzled, forced into silence for fear that I might use my quirk on the other kids."
He glared down at the blonde again, "Katsuki believed them and began bullying me. Of course, I told the adults, but they always called me a liar, blaming me for 'instigating' and 'trying to put my betters down'." He huffed, "As if. I just wanted my best friend back. I wanted to be graded fairly. I wanted to be a hero!"
"And for those of you who don't believe me, just listen. You'll see the truth. Bakugo Katsuki is no hero. I've even provided the proof for the heroes and police. As well as any major news outlets in case they chose to hide it."
The screen clicked, flickering black for a second before the greenette was back, his mouth opening as he began to sing. His voice was hauntingly beautiful, sweet and clear like a river. Civilians, Heroes, Teachers, Police even, everyone began to listen, seeing ghostly figures as the song began.
I've been waiting, contemplating
Dreaming of the day that I could make my move
And it's cruel
They all watched as two little boys, one blonde, one with green hair played together, each of them pretending to be a hero as they defeated imaginary villains. It was cute, the children were happy but everyone already suspected that it would change. With some, their eyes flickered between the screens in front of them and the figures still playing, watching as the blonde and greenette promised each other that they would always be friends, that they would be heroes.
Snakes and Ladders
Nothing matters
Haunted by the words I never said to you
And it's cruel
The people flinched as time and time again, the blonde used his quirk on his once friend, leaving the sad little boy all alone to nurse his wounds. They could see the hateful words being carved into a school desk; the vases of spider lilies left for the child to find. They listened as teachers and peers alike berated the kid, blaming him for anything and everything imaginable.
And they were horrified.
Now I, I've played my turn
And turned to the skies
And I saw that look burning in your eyes
How could I be so blind?
Horrified, two parents watched as their son told their nephew to kill himself, crying as the boy they raised laughed as he left the room after burning the other's notebook. How could they have missed this?
UA, on the other hand, gathered in the meeting room, watching with anger as one of their students abused another child.
"I want him out of my class." Eraserhead growled. Nedzu nodded with a sigh, "I'll have to make sure this is truth, but seeing what I have, I don't plan on stopping you." The principal sighed again as an email popped up in their inbox, the promised videos blinking at him from the attachments.
How could we be so blind?
You can play the game, but you can't make the rules
It's Cruel, so cruel.
If all the world's a stage,
Then we all play the fool
It's cruel, so cruel.
Japan shook as the haunting emerald eyes faded with the screen
