She rushes along the rigid flight of steps. Feet barely making contact with the ground as she sprints, ushering and guiding civilians to run faster as they approach the Monastery's Gates.
It wasn't a pleasant sight at all. It was broad daylight and beautiful day that would indebtedly be wasted on this battle against darkness. Her heart pulsed with adrenaline as her eyes made contact with her Son. Her brown eyes flicker down to his attire as he's dressed in all green from head to toe. He's standing firmly beside his teammates, Kai and Jay on either side of him. Kai stood slightly infront of the blonde, Zane right beside him.
Green energy slowly began to engulf around his hands while his arms move gracefully as he slipped into a fighting stance. Fist clenched tightly infront of him. His face is ebbed of any emotion, stoic, as he peers down at the incoming Oni approaching. She watches her son share a brief look with the Firemaster before his gaze returns to look down at the upcoming enemies.
Her blood ran cold fear and concern as she sprints up to him, feet pounding against the pavement beneath her. "Lloyd!" She calls out to her son. He blinks, his stoic expression converting into concern when His emerald glowing eyes met with hers.
The energy flowing through his hands disperses as he steps forward and reaches out to her, gently grasping her hands in his. "Mother." He says, worrisome. He glances briefly at the child beside her before meeting her eyes once more. "You should be inside."
It wasn't a suggestion. It was a demand from him. An order given to her by her own son. She shook her head in ignorance, repulsing His demand. "No, I'm not leaving you." She resorts back in statement, tightening her hold on his wrists. His eyes soften and he purses his lips, glancing down at the stone beneath them.
He shakes his head and looks over his shoulder and at his team. They all shake their heads almost immediately, only Zane sharing a solemn look with Her. Misako feels a pit form in her stomach. She couldn't stay.
Lloyd looks back at her, emerald eyes stripped of emotions. "No." He simplifies. She opens her mouth to protest but Lloyd cuts her off with a hard look. Misako released a sigh, staring at him with a look of dread.
"No matter what happens, those inside need your protection." His face softens slightly, and finally, he smiles, reassuring as he squeezes her hand. "Will you do that for me?" He questions her. His eyes flicker over to the frightened child behind her, his expression goes stoic again, a mask slipping down his face once more. Misako follows his gaze, momentarily watching the child.
She had a task, and much to her dismay it wasn't the one she had hoped to have gotten. Her voice falters and so she nods in lieu. Lloyd slightly tugs on her hand and she's facing him once again. Neither of the two say another word as he pulls her in for an embrace. She feels him lightly tremble under her hold, she hears as he releases a shuddering breath.
She's tormented between staying there and helping him or running off inside like the damsel in distress she's always been seen as. She cradles his head, shutting her eyes for only a split second, she pulling him closer, afraid to let go.
"I love you." She whispers into his hear. He pulls away. Her hand immediately slides down to his cheek. Auburn eyes staring into emerald. Lloyd watches her with such innocent eyes, leaning into her once forsaken touch.
"Be careful." She implores before releasing him from her hold entirely. He mutters a small; "Likewise..." As he steps back. His Mother rushes to grab the child's wrist as She ventures up the steps once again.
Misako feels her son's gaze bore into her as she runs past the Monastery's gates. She sees Faith walk out as she passes, holding a sword in her grasp as she ambles out past the gates.
"Move! Everybody step aside!"
Misako pauses from where she is coaxing a three year old to play with another toddler. As she looks up, eyes wandering towards the door where Nya is shouting at civilians to back away from the entrance. Her hair is a mess. Her ponytail disheveled and loosened, hairband almost slipping off. Her eyes wide as the size of dinner plates, annoyance glazing through her irises.
"I said move! Give them space!" She yells. Jay is beside her, holding the doors open as Kai rushes in. Misako opens her mouth to ask The water master a question, but falls silent upon seeing the Master of Fire carry her son in. Blood leaks out from a large gash on his temple, and nose. He seemed to be unconscious in Kai's hold, his head limp against The latter's shoulder. Face pale as a sheet.
The brunet's eyes briefly look up, locking with Misako's before he sprinted off to the Medical wing with Zane and Jay hot on his heels. Pure dread pools in her stomach as she watches aimlessly.
She knows that her son is a Ninja, the Green Ninja in fact, but it doesn't get easier seeing him all injured in any way. Misako feels a calloused hand being placed above her shoulder, giving It a gentle squeeze. "Misako, there is something I wish to tell you. Let us go into a more private room first." She hears Wu say into her ear. She's nodding before she can even process it. Wu firmly clasps a hand on her wrist then begins to tug her away from the crowded area. Cole and Nya tag along, walking behind them.
Wu leads her over to a more secluded room, closing the room's door once Nya and Cole enter. Misako crosses her arms, sighing. Her eyes flicker over to both Cole and Nya, only now noticing their dried tears marks on each of their faces. Misako frowns at this small detail before looking back at Wu. "What even happen-?"
"Lloyd died." Nya blurts out.
All eyes snap to her.
"What?" Misako breathes out, hoping to have misheard. That couldn't be right, her son was currently being treated in the infirmary. Zane, Jay and Kai had just rushed off to tend to his injuries. "What do you mean; 'Lloyd died'? He is clearly being tended to." Her voice comes out colder then she had originally intended for it to. Wu winces at her tone, averting his eyes from Hers when she attempted to make eye contact.
Nya opens her mouth to explain but falters, clearing away welling up tears in her eyes. Cole places a warm comforting hand on her shoulder as a gesture to calm down. His eyes then raise up to meet with Misako's. "He didn't have a pulse. He wasn't breathing. Lloyd was dead." He explains in a simple manner.
"But he's alive." Adds Nya, gripping the edge of the table infront of her. Wu nods, expression grim. "He somehow was able to return to us, Misako. Do not fret." The Ninja's master says, then adds. "...He did however speak of seeing the first Spinjitzu master before he fell into Unconsciousness."
Oh.
She falls silent, spine straightening in alarm. Her eyes flicker over to Nya and Cole, both Ninja clearly seeming to be exhausted, fatigue weighing them down. Cole's arm was twisted in what looked to be a painful angle. And Nya's sleeve was all bloody from the slashes on her forearms. How they both were still standing was beneath her. Wu seemed to have realized it as well.
"You two are dismissed. Go get cleaned up then to your respected room." He implores to his students. The ravenette's head snaps to his direction. "But-" Wu sends her a small glare and she quickly clamps her jaw shut.
"Yes, Master." She says through gritted teeth. Her voice dull, stripped of emotion as she turns around to leave. Cole sighs, sending his master a final look before departing from the room along with Nya.
Once the two Ninja are fully gone, Wu turns to Misako, expression stoic. "Garmadon said he'd wait for you by the Monastery's steps. He wishes to speak with you."
She sighs.
Despite it being late afternoon, the sun was brighter then ever as it started to bid it's goodbye for the night to come. Golden petals swayed away with the wind as it swooshed through her. She pays no mind to the hair in her face as she ventures out the courtyard. The second she steps out, she feels tension run through her. She stops abruptly, turning around, her eyes met with crimson red ones. Ones she fell indebtedly for years ago. "Garmadon." She addresses coldly.
"Misako." He bites out, using the exact same tone she had. It's unbelievable to think they had fallen for one another before., when they could barely speak to eachother now without feeling angered.
She feels her eye twitch, leading her to look away from his red eyes. "What.. is it that you wanted?" She asks, stripping the spite away from her tone. This wasn't about her and Garmadon's relationship..
Garmadon seems to understand and he decides to look away from her, choosing to watch the golden pedals underneath them both. Why did they seem to be following her? "Lloyd..." He started. Misako clenches her fist, eyes snapping but to him. "What about my son?" She emphasizes on the word, feeling her anger rise up again. "How.. how is he?" He ponders hesitantly, looking down at the ground.
"He is still being tended to. Thus, I am not so sure of his... condition." She says, tugging her braid over her shoulder. Garmadon spares her a glance. "But he isn't dead anymore... correct?"
Dead. He knew of Lloyd's potential death.
"...No." She whispers, shaking her head. "But you knew it. You knew he was dead and you left before Wu had even said anything." She rasps out, feeling her throat close up as a lump formed. Garmadon says nothing. How could he do that? How could he leave his son the second he knew he had died? Would he have left Lloyd too in the Oni cloud if he had somehow managed to injure himself?
"Do you truly not care for him anymore?" She questions, forcing the lump in her throat away. This wasn't about her, she couldn't afford to breakdown admist of this. Garmadon sighs. "Misako, you and I both know I am not the man I once was. You cannot expect me to care for our... child, as I once did." He says, hesitating slightly.
Misako scoffs lightly, tears welling up in her irises. "I don't believe Lloyd ever looked up to you. Believed that you could change." She spat, glaring up at him.
Garmadon's face hardens. "well, perhaps lf you didn't raise him to be so naive then he maybe wouldn't have."
"...Don't you get it? I didn't get to raise him because you left us. Left me. For your own foolish dreams! It's because of you! You that I didn't get to see him grow up-!"
Garmadon head snaps towards her, and Misako recoils back in fear at his death glare. "Me? You could've easily raised him with the help of Wu. You didn't need me. You never did! So don't you dare blame me of all people for the reason you didn't get to raise your Son!" He shouts, body trembling with pure rage.
Silence fills the atmosphere around them, tension having been built between them. Misako holds her stance, watching quietly as Garmadon walks away...
"How is he?" She asks, leaning on the wall behind her as she crosses her arms. It had been about two hours since Lloyd was carried into the infirmary and since She went to talk - argue - with Garmadon. The Ninja had been in and out of the medical bay, tending to Lloyd and The rest of their own injuries.
Misako had unfortunately not gotten the chance to see her son as she was stuck with the civilians and making sure they were all alright before heading out to talk with Wu once again. But now, she had gotten the chance and despite it being late, she was still going to see her son.
The fire elemental sighed, closing the door to Lloyd's room then proceeding to turn to her direction. He rubbed his eyes tiredly as he looked at her. His shoulder slumped forward with exhaustion. His oversized red t-shirt hanged loosely on his form, unable to cover up the bandages wrapped around his arms most likely covering scrapes or gashes.
"He- he's fine.." Kai sighs, unbothering to step away from the door nor to approach her. "He has a concussion and severe bruising around his chest and arms, but that's all Zane diagnosed him with." He informed her, slouching against the wall. "Is that all?" She questions.
Kai sends her a glance. "Yeah.." He breathes, sighing as he straightens up. "Can you watch him? I'm just gonna go to the kitchen and make coffee." The archaeologist frowns at him.
"Why not head to bed?" Misako asks, moving away from the wall behind her. "I'm staying all night with him." She assures, earning a shake of his head from Kai.
"No, I got it. Don't worry about him." He assures her in return, smiling sheepishly. "I can't sleep either way." He shrugs.
Misako sighs. "Alright." She agrees, knowing Lloyd would be more comfortable with Kai if he were to awake during the night. She couldn't even force herself to truly believe she had a good relationship with her Son. She had an average relationship with Lloyd, but despite even that... he'd always have a better relationship with the Ninja - or even Wu for that matter - over Her.
She ambles on into Lloyd's bedroom, sightly opening the door and leaving it partially closed. She turns around and release a trembling breath as her eyes laid upon Lloyd's figure.
He laid on his back, comfortably snuggled against the pillows and blankets around him. His temple wrapped around in gauze and bandages. His Gi was long forgotten, and instead replaced with a his average green and white stripped pajamas.
Misako lowered down to the ground, kneeling beside her son as she gently brushed away hair from his forehead, leaning over to kiss his head. She bit her lip, watching him silently.
"...I know your awake."
A tired smile pulled his lips upwards. His eyes slowly peeled open, meeting hers. She returned the smile, pressing her forehead to his shoulder. She felt his hand rest upon her head, softly patting it - just as he did when he was infant. She chuckled, wrapping her arms around him softly. He was fine, more then fine and she couldn't be more thankful.
"Mother.." He whispered into her hair, snuggling against it as he slightly returned the hug. He felt something begin to slowly soak his shirt, frowning he rubbed her back. "It's 'kay.. I'm.. I'm okay.." He assured her, closing his eyes against the bright lights swarming over his vision.
"...l'll be okay.."
