Work Header

you push and pull me like gravity (i fall for you, every part of me)

Summary:

“Baby,” Ren calls out to him. “I need to get up and get ready for work.”

“Mmm…” Dan Heng mumbles. “Stay a little longer? Please?”

He can always lie to Elio and say he had a stomach ache. What he can’t do, on the other hand, is deny his lovely wife.

So he stays.

“Okay, just a bit more then.”

Ren is completely and utterly in love with his wife, Dan Heng.

Notes:

Work Text:

It begins with Dan Heng’s sudden appearance at Ren’s workplace.

“Your wife is here,” Silver Wolf announces, having just returned from the receptionist area to pick up a document.

Ren looks up from the spreadsheet he’s been working on for the past thirty minutes.

“Oh?” Kafka responds.

Ren grabs his phone. Two missed calls from Dan Heng and several messages. He was too engrossed with the monitor of his work computer to have noticed earlier.

“I’ll be right back.”

Surely enough, Dan Heng is there, sitting nicely on one of the sofas designated for guests. His eyes light up when he sees Ren. Ren’s heart skips a beat.

“Hey,” he says, groggy. “I’m sorry. I was doing something and didn’t see your text messages.”

“It’s okay,” Dan Heng replies. “It was a spur-of-the-moment thing. I was nearby and thought we could get lunch together.”

“Were you running errands?”

“Uhum. Just went grocery shopping.”

Ren knows he still has plenty of work to do, but who is he to deny his pretty wife who was kind enough to take time out of his day to personally visit him at his office in person and invite him for lunch?

“Do you mind waiting a few minutes? I just need to send this file across.”

Dan Heng shakes his head. “I’ll be here. Take your time.”

Ren looks around. No one was there other than the receptionist, Qingque, who’s busy playing some game on her phone. He quickly gives Dan Heng a kiss on the forehead. He doesn’t miss the red on Dan Heng’s cheeks.

“Be right back.”

Around fifteen minutes later, Ren ends up returning to Dan Heng with Kafka and Silver Wolf tailing behind him.

“Sorry,” he mumbles. “I told them we’re grabbing lunch together and they insisted on coming.”

“That’s alright,” Dan Heng laughs. “Hey Kafka, Silver Wolf.”

“Always nice to see you, pretty boy,” Kafka winks. “Thanks for letting us tag along.”

“‘Sup.”

Ren ends up driving them in Dan Heng’s car, and they choose a Chinese restaurant they frequently go to just around the block of their office building. He lets Dan Heng order for the table.

The meal itself was uneventful, with mostly Kafka asking Dan Heng how he’s been. After getting married, Dan Heng chose to quit his job to become a stay-at-home wife, occasionally taking on freelance work from his ex-boss (who Kafka happens to know quite well, if he may add). Ren had been worried for him at first, as Dan Heng is someone who’s always been independent and hesitant to rely on others, himself included. However, Ren finds relief in finding that Dan Heng feels comfortable enough to trust him and let him provide a stable life for their little family of two (four, if you want to count the cats).

Nowadays his wife spends his free time catering to Sesame and Mochi (Mochi is pregnant with kittens so he’s really preoccupied with that). He’s also a homebody (like Ren) so Ren is not worried that Dan Heng will get himself into trouble purely out of boredom. All in all, their life as husband and wife has been nothing but peaceful and wholesome.

After they finish their meal, Dan Heng drives them back.

But just as Ren is about to get off the car alongside his two coworkers, Dan Heng says, “Do you all mind if I borrow Ren for a bit?”

Kafka responds, “not at all. Take your time. We’ll head up first.”

After Kafka and Silver Wolf disappear into the lobby of the office building, Ren turns to his wife and asks, “is everything okay?”

Dan Heng does not respond. He parks the car on the side of the road just several blocks away from the area. Ren is about to ask him again, feeling nervous, but Dan Heng suddenly crawls onto his lap.

“Baby? What’s wrong?”

Dan Heng is usually never clingy. The display of possessiveness sends heat down Ren’s groin.

“Uhm,” Dan Heng whispers in his ear. “I’m really wet…”

Oh.

His wife starts grinding against his thighs. Ren is too stunned to speak. He quickly grabs hold of Dan Heng’s waist, letting him do whatever he pleases. Dan Heng’s wishes are Ren’s command, after all.

“What happened?”

“You just look so handsome today… And you smell so good…” Dan Heng tells him, a hand ghosting on his biceps, before grabbing one of Ren’s palms resting on his waist and motioning it on the wet spot forming between his pants. “I couldn’t stop staring at you… Your colleagues probably noticed.”

“But I look the same as always,” he tries to reply, but his voice cracks. Running his fingers over Dan Heng’s clothed pussy, he can tell his wife’s soaked through the fabric. It’s insanely hot. Ren’s starting to become dizzy.

Seeing as Dan Heng has no intention of letting him return to work on time (Ren will just have to find an excuse for being late, and that’s a later problem), Ren moves the hand on his waist to Dan Heng’s back, under the soft, white shirt he’s wearing. He rubs soothing circles on his wife’s back, encouraging him. His other hand continues to play with Dan Heng’s pussy, this time sneaking inside his trousers.

Dan Heng’s underwear is tucked to the side, and Ren’s fingers find his clit. His wife gasps.

“R—Ren… Don’t stop— ahhh…

“Someone might see us,” He warns him, but Dan Heng is too far gone to care. He swiftly removes his trousers, giving Ren the freedom to finally, finally caress his puffy, soaked folds. Ren’s fingers are immediately covered in slick.

“So wet, baby,” he teases.

“Uhum… B—Because of— ahhh— because of you…”

“I’m honored.”

He can feel his pants tighten. The hot breath in his ear is a sign that Dan Heng is close, and what would Ren be if he doesn’t give his wife what he wants?

“‘M—ahhh… Ren! Close… Don’t—mmmh!”

Dan Heng comes with a loud cry, tightening around Ren’s calloused fingers. He pants heavily through the aftershocks, pressing his forehead against Ren’s.

“Good?” Ren asks him, before pulling his wife in for a kiss.

“Uhum…” Dan Heng replies, before noticing the obvious erection he’s sitting on. “What about you…?”

“I need to head back soon before Elio starts looking for me,” he says. “Will you be good and wait for me?”

Dan Heng’s eyes light up. “Can we…? Later?”

Ren kisses him again. His wife is just too cute for his own good.

“Anything you want,” he whispers, earning a blush from Dan Heng. “All you need to do is ask, okay?”

“Uhum…”

He helps Dan Heng put his trousers back on before suggesting, “Do you need me to drive you home? Your legs are shaking.”

“I’ll be okay, just need to calm down for a bit.”

Ren lets Dan Heng sit on his lap for a few more minutes, running his fingers gently through his soft hair, before Dan Heng slowly steadies his heartbeat and returns to the driver’s seat.

“I’ll see you tonight,” he tells his wife before getting off the car.

“Uhum, I love you.”

“Love you.”

With a wave goodbye, Dan Heng drives away.

Right… Now for the problem in his pants…

***

On the weekends, Ren often volunteers to run errands for (or with) Dan Heng.

He doesn’t get to do it often with his nine-to-five schedule, so he cherishes moments when he can tag along as his wife busies himself with household-related things.

Today he is tasked with taking Mochi to the vet to check on the cat’s pregnancy.

“I’ll come pick you up in about thirty minutes, okay?” Dan Heng tells him. “I just need to grab a few things at the pharmacy.”

“No rush, We’ll be here.”

It’s also nice to spend time with Mochi. Usually when they’re home, Sesame would mark his territory and not let anyone, with the exception of Dan Heng, approach Mochi. Dan Heng says it’s just his natural instinct to protect his mate and future kittens.

Mochi’s check-up ends faster than expected (the vet says they should be expecting two to four kittens, they’re too small to see right now) so Ren has time to kill before Dan Heng returns.

He leans against the wall by the entrance, a sleepy Mochi in his arms. Dan Heng will probably show up in about five to ten minutes.

Just then, Ren hears, “excuse me?”

It’s a woman he’s never seen before.

He looks at her, as if asking can I help you?

The woman laughs nervously. “Ah.. I’ve seen you here a couple times. Are you alone?”

“My cat.”

“Oh… Right. I mean, you’re not here with anyone else, are you?”

Ren raises a brow. What could this person want from him?

The woman continues, “I was wondering if you’d like to have lunch with me?”

What?

Before Ren has the chance to respond, however, his arm is grabbed and the last thing he sees are Dan Heng’s furrowed brows and pouting lips before he is pulled into a deep kiss.

“I’m sorry, have you been waiting long?” Dan Heng asks, sickeningly sweet, after their mouths part. Ren’s arm instinctively holds Dan Heng by the hip, the other still cradling Mochi as carefully as he possibly can.

“N–Not at all.”

Ren is so surprised at what just happened that he doesn’t notice the woman apologizing flusteredly before quickly running away.

However, he doesn’t miss the look on his wife’s face. An expression Ren has never seen on Dan Heng before today.

Is he… Jealous?

“Mochi,” Dan Heng coos, and Mochi shifts into his arms. Dan Heng peppers the cat with kisses. “Let’s get you home, okay?”

Mochi meows.

Dan Heng acts like nothing happened on their drive home, and Ren finds himself wondering if what just happened was a dream.

After letting Mochi rest on the giant pet bed Dan Heng had insisted on purchasing upon finding out they were expecting kittens, Ren heads for the kitchen. Dan Heng follows him.

He’s just about to start preparing lunch for them (Ren is the designated cook on weekends), when he feels his wife wrap his arms around him from behind.

“Baby?” He calls out. “Is everything okay?”

Dan Heng mumbles something incoherent.

“What was that?”

“...Why didn’t you tell her you were married?”

Even without turning around, he knows his wife is sulking right now. Ren can tell from his voice.

“I didn’t even know why she was talking to me.”

“She was obviously trying to hit on you.”

“Was she?” He ponders, more to himself than to Dan Heng. These things usually just fly over his head. He only has eyes for Dan Heng, anyway. No one else matters.

“You need to be more aware of these things. Stop letting people flirt with you…”

“Okay, okay,” He says, sighing lovingly. He turns around to pull Dan Heng into a warm embrace. Dan Heng hugs him back. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize. I’m not angry. I was just–”

“–Jealous?”

“Uhum… Hey, stop laughing!”

Oh? This is new. Dan Heng doesn’t usually like admitting these things.

“There is nothing to worry about. You’re the only one for me.”

“Stop trying to sweet talk your way out of this.”

“Is it working though?”

“...Yes.”

Their lips connect in a kiss, this time gentle and slow, almost like it’s their first time. He can feel Dan Heng’s tense shoulders relaxing in his arms. Ren feels so in love.

“Why don’t you relax a little while I cook? Maybe take a small nap? I’ll wake you up when the food is ready.”

“Okay,” Dan Heng replies, rubbing his eyes. Ren cannot describe how much he adores him. “I’m gonna lay down with Mochi and Sesame. Call me if you need anything.”

***

“What time will you be home today?” Dan Heng asks him just as Ren’s about to leave for work.

“I’ll try to wrap everything up by five,” he responds, putting on his shoes. “Don’t worry, I didn’t forget. Your brother is coming today.”

Dan Heng smiles. “It’s a shame Yingxing- ge can’t come with him. We haven’t spent time together in a while.”

“Knowing him, he’s probably been spending nights at the workshop working on some commission.” Ren grabs his wife by the waist and kisses him. “I’ll be off now.”

“Uhum, have a good day at work.”

“I’ll see you tonight. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

He finishes all he needs to do at exactly four fifty two P.M., and texts Dan Heng to let him know he’s leaving the office soon.

When Ren arrives at the front door, he sees an additional pair of shoes–a sign that his brother-in-law (who also happens to be married to his cousin) is here. He braces himself.

“I’m home,” he says.

Mochi is the first one to greet him, tail curled around his ankles. Ren carries the pregnant cat farther inside the house.

In the living room, he sees Dan Heng reading what seems to be a novel (probably a gift from Dan Feng). His brother-in-law is also there, holding a fancy-looking comb and brushing through his wife’s hair.

“I can’t believe you managed to get a copy of this,” Dan Heng tells Dan Feng. “This edition is so difficult to find. I asked Ren to search around for me with no luck.”

“What do you expect from a useless man like him,” Dan Feng scoffs. “If you ever want or need anything, you know all you need to do is call me.”

Ren rolls his eyes. As he lets Mochi down, Dan Heng looks up from what he was reading, and his face lights up.

“Welcome home,” his wife says, and in an instant Ren forgets what Dan Feng just said about him.

“Hey,” he’s just about to lean in to kiss Dan Heng on the forehead when Dan Feng stops him.

“At least have the decency to shower first,” Dan Feng says to him. “You’ve been out all day.”

“And hello to you too, your highness,” Ren mocks. He knows how much Dan Feng hates that nickname.

“It’s fine,” Dan Heng interjects. “Come here, Ren.”

He wants to stick his tongue out at Dan Feng, but Ren always tries to be the better person.

“Are you hungry? I can cook something real quick.”

Dan Heng shakes his head. “Dan Feng- ge ordered food for us. It should be here soon. We can eat together after you have a bath. I prepared hot water for you.”

“Thank you. I’ll be right back, then.”

Dinner mostly consists of Dan Heng chatting away animatedly with his brother–they’re very close after all–with Ren listening and occasionally chiming in. He’s not necessarily close to Dan Feng (Dan Feng is very possessive, but so is Ren) but he tries to be as civil as possible. He knows that, deep, deep down, Dan Feng approves of him and their marriage… He just has an odd way of showing it.

“What’s Yingxing- ge up to lately?” Ren asks Dan Feng.

Dan Feng sighs dramatically. “I truly have no words for that unbelievable man. Once he starts working it’s as if he’s fully locked in, and is unable to deal with anything else. He’s at his workshop right now.”

“Ah… Well he wants to work hard to provide for you, you know?”

“What nonsense. I keep telling him to quit his job. I make more than enough for the both of us.”

“But it’s different when it’s his own hard work, ” Dan Heng says. Underneath the table, his hand finds Ren’s. “It feels more special, like when he buys you gifts and surprises.”

Ren intertwines their fingers together.

“I don’t need anything,” Dan Feng responds. There is a glint of sadness in his eyes. “His presence means the most to me. Ugh, sometimes I wish he’d work a conventional nine-to-five like you, Ren.”

Dan Heng looks up at him, proud. “Ren sometimes has to work at home, too. But he tries to come home on time everyday.”

Dan Feng looks like he wants to say something, but decides not to. Instead he says, “It’s getting late. I should go.”

“Spend the night, gege, ” Dan Heng tells him. “You hate driving in the dark. The guest room is clean and fully stocked.”

Dan Feng’s ears perk up at that. Ren assumes that’s what he wanted all along.

“I’ll sleep over then.”

Ren lets Dan Heng spend more quality time with his brother in the guest room. To be honest, he doesn’t mind if Dan Heng wants to sleep with Dan Feng tonight, so he’s surprised to see his wife climbing into their shared bed a few hours later.

“Baby?” He calls out. “You’re sleeping here?”

“Uhum,” Dan Heng hums, making himself comfortable in Ren’s arms. “ Gege ’s asleep already.”

“We should sleep too, you must be tired.”

Instead of responding, Dan Heng positions his legs so that they’re on each side of Ren’s thigh. Ren looks at him curiously.

“Your brother is right next door…” He breathes, just as Dan Heng begins to slowly rock against him.

“We’ll just have to be quiet… Please, A-Ren?”

How can Ren deny his cute wife when he’s calling him by that nickname and looking at him pleadingly with doe eyes?

He lets Dan Heng grind against his thigh for the next few minutes, seeing as his wife looks blissful while doing so. He peppers him with kisses–on his forehead, on his cheeks, before finally holding him by the jaw to connect their lips together.

“Hmm… A-Ren… More… Please…” He mewls. Ren wants to explode.

He flips Dan Heng over gently, his wife now underneath him, and pushes a knee back between Dan Heng’s legs. His mouth leans down to suck a bruise on his wife’s exposed collarbone.

Dan Heng smells so nice—like flowers after the rain—although if Ren was to tell him he’ll probably just brush it off as the new fabric softener he just purchased. His wife continues to moan, music to Ren’s ears.

“Keep it down, baby,” he whispers teasingly. “We don’t want your brother to hear us now, do we?”

Dan Heng shakes his head. “N—No, I’ll be good… Please…”

Moving his thigh aside, Ren slowly removes Dan Heng’s pajama pants. He gulps at the darkened spot on his underwear.

Dan Heng doesn’t wait for him and finishes what Ren started, leaving him bare for his husband’s taking. Ren gives Dan Heng another kiss on the lips before his head dives down, sucking on the clit peeking from the hood.

Mmmh— “ Dan Heng does his best to cover his mouth with his hands, and this makes Ren want to bully him even more.

He continues to suckle on the nub, this time together with two fingers rubbing against his wife’s folds. Dan Heng is so, so wet, Ren can feel his slick all over his chin. He ravishes Dan Heng’s pussy like a man starved. The grip on his hair only encourages him to go faster.

“P—Please… No more teasing…” He hears his wife say, tears in his eyes. “A-Ren…”

“What do you want me to do, baby? Use your words.”

“W—Want…”

“Hm? What is it?”

He licks his lips, fingers now spreading Dan Heng’s plump pussy apart. It’s so pink and puffy, and Ren blows hot air into his wife’s opening, earning a shriek.

“Want you… To fuck me… Please…” Dan Heng begs.

“Heh, how vulgar.”

Ren doesn’t need to be told twice.

He quickly pulls his trousers down, freeing his hard, aching cock, leaking with precum. Dan Heng peeks through hooded eyes. Ren is so turned on and he swears if he isn’t inside his wife in the next five seconds he will die.

“Ready?” He asks, cock teasing just on the seams of Dan Heng’s pussy. He leans forward to kiss the tears away from Dan Heng’s reddened cheeks.

“Uhum… Please put it in, Ren…”

“Always so polite,” he laughs quietly. But he’ll give Dan Heng what he wants, he always will.

They’ve had sex countless times, but to Ren, every time feels like the first. Dan Heng is so warm and tight, he feels like he’s going to explode. His wife is crying and babbling beneath him, and he pulls him into a kiss.

Ren doesn’t move—not yet. He lets Dan Heng get used to the intrusion. When Dan Heng starts rocking against him that’s when he knows he’s ready.

The room is filled with breathless moans, both of them trying to be as quiet as possible.

When Dan Heng climaxes, it’s with a silent cry. His pussy spasms around Ren, and it’s not long after that Ren, too, comes, spilling a copious amount of seed inside his wife. They lay there for a few minutes as Ren rubs circles down his wife’s back, a habit he’s developed, as they calm down.

“Are you okay?”

“Uhum,” Dan Heng responds. “So sleepy now.”

“Sleep, baby. I’ll clean us up.”

Dan Heng taps his stomach and adds, “sleepy and full…”

Ren wonders if it’ll take

By the time he returns with a warm towel, his wife is already fast asleep, lips red and cum trickling out of his hole. He feels so proud. Now he just hopes Dan Feng didn’t hear anything and questions them in the morning.

***

Every morning Ren wakes up at approximately seven A.M. He tries to be as punctual as possible, arriving at work anytime before nine (he’s not Kafka who thinks she can come and go as she pleases.)

However, he was faced with a problem that morning.

Dan Heng has his legs all over him, head snuggling cozily under Ren’s chin. He can still smell the shampoo on his wife’s hair from last night. His arms wrap around Ren’s back as he nuzzles into his broad chest.

Dan Heng rewards him by pressing lazy kisses up his jaw. “You’re so nice and warm.”

Ren, in return, dips his hand just beneath the waistband of his wife’s pajama pants, caressing the soft skin there. His wife is so small and slender, he thinks as he playfully pinches Dan Heng’s waist, knowing it will immediately leave red marks.

When Dan Heng’s breathing starts to become stable and slow, Ren realizes he has fallen back asleep. Dan Heng’s been sleeping a lot more lately. Slowly he slips out of bed, not wanting to wake his wife up, and showers his face with gentle kisses before getting ready to head out.

Before Ren leaves, he grabs the lunch Dan Heng had packed for him last night (all he needs to do is heat it up in the microwave later), and tells Sesame and Mochi, “look after your mama for me. And behave.”

When his lunch break rolls around, Ren takes a picture of his food and sends it to Dan Heng.

His wife immediately responds, is it yummy?

Yes, Ren texts back. I love your cooking.

You’re just saying that to be nice. You’re a much better cook than I am.

He laughs at his wife’s response. Dan Heng sends him, in return, a picture of himself in bed with Mochi curled up next to him.

So hungry, but I’m too lazy to get out of bed. Mochi has been cuddling me for the past hour.

Where’s Sesame?

Dan Heng responds again, this time with a picture of Sesame on the floor next to their bed.

I didn’t let him on the bed because he’s a little smelly. I’ll give him a bath later.

“Watcha lookin’ at?” Suddenly, Silver Wolf peers over his shoulder. Ren immediately locks his phone, but knowing her, she probably saw the pictures Dan Heng sent him.

“Probably his cute little wife,” Kafka comments, not looking away from her monitor.

“You’re both so nosey,” Ren clears his throat.

“Ah, to be young and in love,” says Silver Wolf, returning to her seat. “Kafka, maybe I’ll take you up on that offer of introducing me to someone.”

“I’m older than all of you.”

“I forgot you’re an old man.”

Firefly, who’s just returned from the break room, asks, “what are we talking about?”

“Ren’s wife.”

“Get back to work before Elio beats our asses.”

Sometimes at around four, he receives another text from Dan Heng, this time a picture of Sesame on his lap.

The message reads, he’s no longer stinky. We are cuddling on the sofa now.

Ren can’t wait to go home.

***

It’s been raining all day.

All Ren wants is to get home and cozy up with Dan Heng, but he didn’t take his car to work today (Dan Heng insisted that it’s dangerous to drive seeing as the weather predictions say there might be a thunderstorm) so now he’s stuck with hundreds of people inside the underground train.

His colleague, Jingyuan, laughs at his clearly annoyed face when more people rush into the public transport.

“Relax, Ren.”

He chooses to ignore Jingyuan, instead opting to check the time on his watch. It’s almost six thirty. He’s usually home by six, Dan Heng’s probably wondering where he is.

They arrive at Ren’s station three stops later, and Ren quickly squeezes through the endless sea of people. Jingyuan continues to talk animatedly to him, but all Ren can think about is getting them home. They end up catching a taxi after queueing for another twenty minutes.

As Ren unlocks the door to the house, his annoyance immediately dissipates the moment he sees his wife. Dan Heng lights up, running straight to him.

“Ren, you’re home,” he mumbles, pulling Ren into a hug. “I was worried something happened. You didn’t respond to my texts.”

“The train was packed, I couldn't take out my phone,” he replies, kissing Dan Heng’s forehead, before realizing they're not alone.

“Don’t mind me,” Jingyuan teases.

“Ahem, this is Jingyuan, my colleague. Jingyuan, this is my wife, Dan Heng.”

“Oh?” Dan Heng inquires. “Come on in. I don’t think we’ve met before.”

“He’s from a different department,” Ren explains. “I told him he can wait here until the rain stops. He lives a few stations away.”

“Thank you for having me. Pardon the intrusion.”

Dan Heng brews tea for them. The aroma of chrysanthemum fills the living room.

“Feel free to take a hot shower, you can borrow Ren’s clothes if you like,” Dan Heng says to Jingyuan.

“That’s alright. The rain should stop within the next hour. I can wait it out.”

“Only if you’re sure. Do you want me to prepare a hot bath for you, Ren?”

“It’s okay, I’ll just take a quick shower,” Ren tells Dan Heng. “I’ll be right back. If Jingyuan does anything funny, just kick him out.”

“Oh, I wouldn’t dare,” Jingyuan raises his hands up dramatically.

Ren returns after soaking himself under the scalding water, now in a better mood. He joins Dan Heng and Jingyuan on the sofa. The cats are there too, both on Dan Heng’s lap. Dan Heng seems to be engrossed in the conversation he’s having with Jingyuan. But when he sees Ren, he smiles warmly.

“Ren,” he reaches out to him. “Come sit here.”

When he sits next to his wife, Dan Heng immediately intertwines their fingers together, his head leaning against his shoulder as he continues to listen to whatever Jingyuan is talking about. Ren is not listening. How can he when he’s busy basking in the warm embrace of his lovely wife?

“Ah, you both must be so hungry,” Dan Heng suddenly exclaims. “I’m so sorry, I was too engrossed in our conversation.”

“It’s no problem at all, Dan Heng. I should probably get going soon. My son is waiting for me.”

“Jingyuan, I didn’t know you had a son.” Ren comments.

“His name is Yanqing,” Dan Heng tells him. “He’s in elementary school.”

“Just turned seven last month,” adds Jingyuan. “He’s a good kid. Very independent for his age. I’m sure he’s fine with being home alone, but as a father I worry about him all the time.”

“He sounds sweet, I’d love to meet him.”

“Of course, the next time you’re free.” Jingyuan then quickly continues, “if Ren allows it, of course.”

They bid Jingyuan goodbye soon after.

“He’s nice,” Dan Heng says to Ren. “I’m glad to know you have good colleagues at work.”

“He can be a pain in the ass sometimes, talks too much for my liking. But he works hard.”

Dan Heng sits on the counter as Ren whips something quick and easy for them to eat. Times like these are so nice, Ren thinks. Just basking in each other’s presence, listening to his wife talk about his day.

That night after dinner, they curl up together under the covers. Dan Heng presses his head on Ren’s chest, and Ren caresses his hair, his back, his waist, like he’s the most precious thing in the world.

“Is Jingyuan married?” Dan Heng suddenly asks.

“Not that I’m aware of. Why do you ask?”

“He didn’t mention it either when we were talking about his son… It must be difficult being a single parent.”

“I suppose so. He’s doing his best.”

“Uhum…” His wife muffles. “Hey Ren…”

“Hm?”

Dan Heng’s arms cling tightly on Ren’s T-shirt. “Mmm, nothing. Nevermind.”

“What is it, baby?”

Instead of answering, his wife just shakes his head. Ren knows not to pry any further.

“Alright, but you know you can tell me anything, right?”

“Uhum… I know.”

He holds Dan Heng gently, ghosting his forehead with light kisses as they fall asleep together.

He’ll just have to wait until Dan Heng is ready to talk to him.

Ren doesn’t take time off work very often, and he can’t really remember the last time he did. But this morning, when Dan Heng immediately throws up the moment he gets out of bed, he immediately messages Elio to let him know he’s not coming to the office today.

No worries, family comes first, was Elio’s reply. I hope your wife feels better soon.

Ren spends his morning holding Dan Heng’s hair back and rubbing soothing circles down his back as his wife sits by the toilet in agony.

“Baby, are you okay? I’ll take you to the doctor, yeah?” he asks.

Dan Heng just shakes his head. “I probably just ate something bad yesterday, Ren. I’ll be alright.”

“Are you sure? Does it hurt anywhere?”

“No, just a headache. Help me get back to bed?”

Ren doesn’t need to be told twice. With one swift movement, he lifts his wife in his arms and gently carries him back to their bedroom, tucking him in under the covers.

“I’ll be right back with some water. I’ll make you some congee, do you think you can stomach it?”

“Uhum, thank you.”

He spoon feeds Dan Heng the congee he made, making sure to go slowly, afraid that his wife’s upset stomach might end up throwing everything up again. But his cooking seems to work, because his wife happily enjoyed the meal with a smile on his face.

“Good? Do you want seconds?”

“Yes, please. Just a little bit.”

After he finishes his second bowl of congee, Ren helps Dan Heng change out of his clothes into a fresh pair of pajamas before making him lie back down in bed.

“Can we cuddle?” his wife asks him just as he’s about to leave their bedroom with the dirty dishes.

“Of course, give me a second. I’ll be right back.”

When he returns, Dan Heng is already half asleep, his gentle breathing audible.

Ren did ask Kafka earlier to send all the work he needs to get done while he’s at home, but he decides he can look at his emails later. Because right now, he wants to hold his wife.

“Rest well, my love.” He kisses Dan Heng’s forehead. Dan Heng smiles in his sleep.

Working from home has never really been an issue for Ren, especially ever since Dan Heng recommended he turn one of the empty spaces in their 3-bedroom home into a makeshift office. Because Ren is typically someone who prefers to leave his workplace on time, he occasionally takes whatever it is he’s working on home to resume.

Today is one of those days.

The time shows that it’s nearly midnight, but there are still some revisions from Elio he needs to deal with. Mochi has been very kind to accompany him, sitting nicely on his desk.

Knock, knock.

The door slightly opens, and Dan Heng’s head peeks through. “Can I come in?”

“Of course, come here, baby.”

His wife closes the door behind him and walks toward where Ren is sitting.

“Here you are, Mochi,” Dan Heng says. “Why are you here, silly? It’s time for bed. Come on.”

Dan Heng carries Mochi in his arms and takes the cat outside to reunite with Sesame, and returns to Ren’s makeshift office. Quietly, he crawls on Ren’s lap and lays his head on his chest.

“How much longer?” He whines. “I’m sleepy but you’re not there.”

“Just a little more. Do you want to wait here with me?”

Dan Heng nods.

It starts off innocent at first, and Ren is able to get more work done, but when his wife starts grinding against him he stiffens.

“What are you doing?” Ren asks, nervous.

His wife reaches up to his ear, hot breath tickling the skin there, and says, “you should let me warm you up while you work.”

Oh.

“Can I?” Dan Heng continues, but he’s already pulling Ren’s trousers down.

“Baby…” Ren groans. He’s extremely turned on right now.

This is when he notices that his wife isn’t wearing any underwear beneath his pajamas. Has this been Dan Heng’s plan all along?

He’s already so wet, Ren’s half-hard cock slides in easily, and Dan Heng mewls.

“So big…

How in the world is Ren supposed to finish his work now?

But Dan Heng doesn’t move. He returns to laying his head on Ren’s chest, this time his eyes closing. Other than the occasional tightening and slick gushing out of where they’re connected, his wife stays absolutely still.

Ren can feel himself getting fully hard, so he makes it a point to send this goddamn email across, fuck Elio. All he wants to do know is slam his wife against the table and fuck him stupid until he’s nothing more than a panting, drooling mess.

But by the time he’s finally done, Dan Heng is already fast asleep.

Ren wants to cum so bad, but he knows if he pulls out he risks waking Dan Heng up, so instead he carefully carries his wife back to the bedroom, making sure they stay connected.

“Mmm, Ren…?” Dan Heng mumbles.

“I’m here,” he whispers. “Go back to sleep, baby. I’ll take you to bed.”

“Uhm… You… Inside… Feels so good…”

He knows his wife is just sleep talking, but the praise sends more heat to his cock, hot and heavy inside his wife’s pussy.

Ren makes a mental note to punish Dan Heng in the morning for leaving him high and dry, but a few hours later he wakes up to his wife riding him, expression of full bliss.

A—Ah! G—good morning, A-Ren… Ah!

Dan Heng will truly be the death of him.

***

There’s something I need to tell you.

Ren rereads Dan Heng’s texts a few times. He subconsciously gulps.

Everything okay?

Mhm, what time will you be back?

Why can’t he just tell him now, if everything’s okay? A thousand possibilities run through Ren’s mind like a marathon.

Same as usual. I’ll try to be earlier.

Dan Heng simply responds with a  thumbs up sticker.

“You look like you’ve just seen a ghost,” Silver Wolf comments nonchalantly. “You good?”

“Stop bullying him,” Firefly sighs. “You alright there, Ren?”

“Yeah.”

“Did you get into an argument with your wife?” Kafka teases.

“No, it’s not that.”

Silver Wolf returns to her seat, turning her computer on. “Ah, so it’s got something to do with Dan Heng, huh?”

Firefly shakes her head. “Don’t pry into others’ personal matters, Silver Wolf.”

“Nothing happened,” Ren explains. At least not yet.

“Well, whatever it is, it can wait until later. We have that big deadline today, remember?”

Of course Ren remembers. But even as he’s drowning himself in work all he can think about is his wife. Everything had been alright last night and this morning–they took a bath together last night, although Dan Heng, for some reason, insisted on keeping the bathroom pitch black (they usually light up some scented candles for ambiance). Ren had tried to initiate something afterwards but his wife only brushed him off, laughing lightly before planting a kiss on his cheek. That morning, Dan Heng handed him his packed lunch as usual and pulled him into a hug before he left.

When he arrives home that evening, he feels cold sweat running down his back.

But his wife greets him as he always does, pulling him into a sweet hug.

“Welcome home,” Dan Heng says. “You must be tired.”

Ren sits on the sofa and loosens his tie. “It wasn’t too bad. Had a four P.M. deadline but we managed to send the files across in time. Dan Heng joins him. Ren says nothing when he crawls onto his lap.

“Ren…”

“Everything alright, baby?”

“Uhum…”

Dan Heng becomes quiet again. Ren swallows an imaginary lump in his throat.

“You went to the vet today, right? Did they say anything about Mochi?”

“Mochi is pregnant with three kittens,” Dan Heng tells him. “I think they’re due in about two weeks.”

“We should go shopping for kitten supplies then. Want to go tomorrow?”

“Okay…”

He rubs Dan Heng’s back soothingly, a silent ‘you can always tell me anything, I am your safe space,’ and doesn’t push his wife. He lets him speak at his own pace.

“Ren… Do you love me?”

Normally Ren would say, of course I do, is that even a question? but his wife seems to be overthinking something, so instead he responds, “more than you will ever know.”

This earns him a light punch from his wife. “I’m serious.”

“So am I,” he then adds. “What’s on your mind?”

“You remember when I was feeling unwell the other day?”

“Mhm.”

“So uhm… I went to the doctor because I kept feeling nauseous… And they ran some tests…”

There is a sinking feeling in Ren’s stomach, as he prepares for the worst. Dan Heng reaches out and hands him something from his pocket.

“And they told me I’m pregnant.”

Oh.

Wait…

Oh?

“I’m about eleven weeks… Ren?” Dan Heng calls out to him. “Please, say something…”

“We’re going to be parents?” Ren finally asks, looking at the ultrasound his wife had just handed to him. He then cups Dan Heng’s cheeks, inevitably making their eyes meet.

“Uhum…  But only if you want to… Hey! Why are you crying!?”

Ren doesn’t know the answer. He didn’t even realize his eyes started tearing up. He’s not one to cry very often but there’s just this overwhelming feeling in his chest that he cannot control, he thinks he’s about to combust.

“I’m just… Oh, I’m so happy, Dan Heng.”

“R–Really?”

“Yeah.” And with that, Ren pulls his wife into a deep, gentle kiss, before smiling and adding, “you’re crying too.”

“W–No I’m not!”

“Did you and Mochi plan this? To get pregnant together?”

“Oh… I hadn’t even realized… Anyway this was definitely not planned! We agreed to wait, remember?”

The wait is finally over.

“In about two weeks we’re going to have three extra kittens… And in nine months’ time, there’s going to be another addition to the family.”

“We might need to renovate the guest room to make a nursery…”

“Your brother’s going to be so upset. Where is he going to sleep?”

“He can sleep in our room. You can take the sofa,” Dan Heng teases. “Just kidding.”

“Speaking of which… Dan Feng is going to kill me when he finds out.”

Dan Heng laughs, and it’s like music to Ren’s ears. “We can make it up to him by letting him plan the gender reveal party.”

“You’re into that kind of thing?”

“Not really… But I bet it’ll make gege happy.”

Ren thinks Dan Heng is probably right.

Recovering from the high of his wife’s good news, they eat dinner together (Dan Heng made a one pot rice with beef ribs) before his wife sends him off to shower.

“You don’t want to join me?” He asks playfully. Dan Heng rolls his eyes.

“My nausea comes and goes, and I don’t want you to bully me.”

“I’d never do that.”

After showering, they cuddle in bed with the cats. Dan Heng peppers Mochi with kisses, and Sesame watches, his chonky body on top of Ren’s chest.

“You’re going to be a mom soon,” Dan Heng says to Mochi.

Ren reacts to this by laying a hand on his wife’s abdomen. He knows that in just a few weeks, Dan Heng will start showing… His mind is running everywhere.

He offers to tuck Mochi and Sesame in their pet bed, and when he returns Dan Heng pulls him in for a hug.

“I love you,” his wife breathes, tickling his skin. “You’re going to be a great dad. I just know it.”

“I love you too. It’s quite exciting, isn’t it?”

“Uhum… It’s this whole new world… I’m going to need to talk to Jingyuan for parenting tips.”

“He came to the office late today because he overslept and had to drop Yanqing off at school first.”

“All parents have good days and bad.”

“Hm, you might be right. When is your next doctor’s appointment? I want to go with you.”

“Should be next week…” Dan Heng opens the calendar on his phone. “I am scheduled for another ultrasound.”

“Okay, we can go together.”

“Uhum, okay.”

He holds Dan Heng tenderly that night, feeling the steady breathing of his wife against his neck, and dreams.

He dreams of a little girl running into his arms, and behind her, Dan Heng laughing gently. The little girl looks so much like him, Ren thinks, except for her eyes, a deep, comforting shade of azure, the deepest part of an ocean, the color that reminds him of home.

Darling, you’re going to startle your baba like that, Dan Heng tells her.

Ah… Our daughter…

The little girl giggles as Ren lifts her into his arms.

He forgets what the rest of his dreams entail, but his heart is at peace.

Notes:

i'll write a sequel about them and their little baby if this gains enough traction...
