Work Text:
Katsuki watches out of the corner of his eye as he walks side by side with his boyfriend on patrol. Izuku is being awfully quiet.
Izuku is never quiet.
Like, he hasn’t said anything word except for the occasional ‘hellos’ to the fans.
“Deku?”
Izuku hums to let him know he heard him. Not looking at him.
“Something is wrong.”
Izuku finally looks at him. Eyes scanning the surrounding area. “What? You see something?”
He clicks his tongue in annoyance. “No babe, I mean, something is wrong with you.”
Izuku’s face drops. “Oh. I’m fine.”
Katsuki scoffs. “Babe, you haven’t said a word in over twenty minutes, you are most definitely not fine.”
Izuku sighs. “I may have inadvertently threatened Endeavor yesterday.”
What the hell did he just say?
“Excuse me?”
Izuku groans. “Look, it was stupid, I’ll admit that, but he pissed me off. Shoto’s inheritance shouldn’t ride of who he chooses to date.”
Ignoring the fact that it was literally written into the contract, he allows Izuku to continue.
“If Shoto wants to leave me, that’s fine.”
That’s a lie. Izuku will totally not be fine if Shoto breaks up with him.
“But he should do it of his own free will, not because his dad is holding five million hostage.”
Katsuki scoffs again. “I’ve reminded him multiple times that we didn’t need his dad’s money.”
A fan walks up to get Dekus autograph. When he leaves, Katsuki continues. “I don’t know what the hell Endeavor had him do, but I sure damn know that it wasn’t anything good.”
Since their first year at UA, he’s known that Enji Todoroki is no good. He has himself himself and only himself in mind. He was a good hero mentor, but as a husband and father he was a dirty bag.
“I’m aware. Shoto is an adult, he made his choice. I just hate that Endeavor is going back on his word.”
Kat rolls his eyes. “Is Shoto even aware that you talked to him?”
Izuku looks away. Guilty. “No.”
Katsuki sighs. “Well when we get home you need to tell him. You’ve told all of us from the beginning that secrets were a bad idea, and Shoto is still learning to open up, even after all these years.
Izuku sighs. “Yeah, I will.”
Katsuki smirks. “It felt damn good to threaten him didn’t it?”
“Yes!” Izuku groans. “And I hate it.”
Kat just laughs.
