Work Text:
“And you, Gabriela Perez, do you take Diego Moreno to be your lawfully wedded husband?” The priest asked, looking at her.
She looked at Diego, his smile on his countenance slowly contorting into one of confusion as his fiancé failed to answer straight away.
Gabriela looked into the crowd; her eyes locked with his.
Bode sat there, trying to keep his face straight as he saw her at the alter opposite Diego.
Object, the thought bounced in his mind.
He wanted, he wanted to.
But he couldn’t – his mouth was open, but he just couldn’t get the words out.
Gabriela’s face slipped almost indiscernibly, but Bode could tell that, just for a second, she’d hoped.
She’d hoped you’d object.
She turned back to Diego, plastering back a smile.
“Yes, I do.”
Bode stood up, walking out as the newlyweds cemented their status with a kiss, joyous cheers erupting all around him.
From everyone, except for him it seemed.
He headed outside and made a turn to the right, making sure to put some distance between himself and Gabriela, the woman he loved, still.
Except she was now his wife.
And with three words, she was no longer mine to win.
