Michinaga remembered the moment he first started feeling fond of Keiwa. It was when Morio switched partners to pair himself up with him. He couldn't stand that man and how he cheated his way into matching himself up with Michinaga. He was just the kind of guy he wanted eliminated from the Desire Grand Prix. Keiwa seemed like a sweet enough guy, he didn't deserve to get knocked out so soon due to another man's tricks.
Not that he exactly trusted Keiwa to not have some kind of self-serving purpose for being a part of all of this. He just wanted to pair up with the person he hated least during the whole situation.
However as time went on, he found himself noticing how alike Keiwa and his best friend Toru were. He remembered how he was afraid of ruining his and Toru's friendship if he ever told him his feelings for him before he died. Yet, somehow, Keiwa ended up confessing to him. It came as a big surprise to Michinaga, who accepted it. Although, it probably didn't end up the best idea when they had so much going on playing through the Desire Grand Prix over and over. There was always a risk that whenever they lost their memories, they lost their feelings for each other too.
Then came the day Michinaga killed Sara. Not that he knew she was the Jyamato, but the look on Keiwa's face in that moment. He was willing to let him take out his despair on him. The punch to the ground, grabbing him and yelling at him until he was sobbing into his shoulder. Their short relationship was over at this point. Michinaga let himself be a villain in Keiwa's eyes. He felt like there was nothing else he could do to atone for what he'd done and to help Keiwa through his grief.
Michinaga was so surprised when Keiwa showed up after he defeated Beroba, even going so far as to save him from Kekera. They finally managed to make amends, he even got to apologise to Sara too after she was brought back. Yet, things were still happening around them. Even if they managed to get along again as friends, Michinaga didn't dare ask for a second chance, not until things were all over with the Desire Grand Prix. It was more important at that time than what had been going on between them, he'd slightly berated himself for even trying to have a relationship with Keiwa in the first place. Then wasn't the time, but now... Now the world was more at peace...
He hesitated to knock on the door, he wasn't great at talking to people. He wasn't sure if this conversation he wanted to have would go well at all.
She opened it with a smile.
"Ah! Mr. Buffalo! What brings you here? Keiwa isn't home right now!"
"Actually, I came here to talk to you."
Sara looked a bit surprised, yet let him in. Ushering for him to sit down, then sitting herself.
"What did you want to talk about?"
"About your brother."
"What about him?"
"Do I deserve him in my life? After what I did to you and to him."
"You already apologised to us about it didn't you? You didn't know I was the Jyamato and after you found out, you did your best to save me for Keiwa's sake! I'm grateful for it! Why wouldn't you deserve to have him be a part of your life? Everything is ok now!"
"I just... If... If it wouldn't bother you..." Michinaga was trying his best to speak more politely, he didn't want to sound rude to her.
"Just spit it out Mr. Buffalo! I'm all ears!"
Michinaga took in a breath and let it out a moment later.
"Do you think I'd have a chance to be with him again?"
"Aga-Oh!?" Sara blinked, surprise evident in her voice. "Of course you do! Keiwa cares a lot about you!"
"You... Didn't know, did you? I thought he'd tell you everything since you're the only family he has." Michinaga was a little worried now that he'd put his foot in it and had outed Keiwa to his sister.
"Well... I was aware he was dating someone, my sisterly instinct picked up on that he might have a special someone. Although part of me thought he'd never get a date... When I asked him about who she was, he got a bit nervous and tried to avoid me! Though, a bit later he did admit he was seeing a guy. He didn't say who though, so I just let him know I'd support him and still loved him. Though I'd hoped that one day he would introduce him to me."
"I guess we broke up before he had the chance to do that."
"Ah... It wasn't because of me was it!?"
"Don't worry about it." He didn't want to hurt her feelings since, in a way, she wasn't wrong.
"Well... Either way I don't think you have anything to worry about. I'll support the both of you being together! I can trust you'll look out for Keiwa since you already have done so before!"
"...Thanks."
"So... When are you going to ask him back?"
"I..."
Just then the door opened, Sara hopped up happily.
"Ah, Keiwa! Welcome home! Someone special is here to see you! I'm going to go visit Neon, so have fun you two!"
Sara punched Keiwa playfully, then gave Michinaga a thumbs up and a wink before she dashed out the apartment. Keiwa was a bit confused about what his sister was talking about until his eyes laid upon the other man in the room.
"Michinaga!? What are you doing here!?"
"I came to speak with your sister."
"...Why though?"
"Uh... It doesn't really matter." Michinaga felt a bit nervous, this was too sudden.
"Well... I've been hoping to get a chance to talk to you anyway, now that we're alone together." Keiwa moved over to the couch, sitting where his sister was previously.
"Spit it out." His brash nature came out as if to shield himself for whatever Keiwa was about to say.
Keiwa just smiled, looking around for a moment while humming. It was almost like he was nervous to say whatever it was that he wanted to say.
"Do you... Would you... Be willing to get back together? With me?"
"Hah!?"
"I-I'd get it if you don't! We've been through a lot and... Things got really bad between us since we broke up. But... I hoped since we were good with each other again… Maybe... If you wanted? But it's fine if we don't! I hope we can continue being friends!"
"I don't want to be friends."
"Oh..." Keiwa looked down sadly. "I'm sorry."
"I mean... If you are really ok with having me back... I want to get back together with you too."
Keiwa looked at him with a huge smile that made Michinaga feel almost dizzy by looking.
"Really!?"
"Yeah."
"Great!"
Keiwa pulled him into a hug, slowly Michinaga returned the gesture.
"I'm so glad..."
"Your sister knows about us by the way. Sorry about that, I thought you'd told her."
"Oh... Uh... Well as long as she's ok with it? She was right!?"
"Yeah, she said she'd support us being together."
"Good." Keiwa smiled.
Michinaga felt relieved, that smile meant things were going to go just fine between them from now on.
